Congrats on the 2k! We do have a good time there even with the glitches. Maybe that is part of it's charm. That and having the people running the place being so accessible.
A better and more stable virtual world based on the OpenSim codebase. Basically another version of SL, cept better.
I believe there are tools to transfer your inventory over to InWorldz, and a private island costs $75 bucks a month, no setup fees.
You want to create an account there and check it out, it's a good thing.

InWorldz is a user create.... Eh, yeah.. we've heard that before...
We actually are a Virtual World created for the users, by users. Hmm.. I see a stint in rehab coming up.. or maybe InWorldz IS the rehab?
We are based off the open source Open Simulator software. We have begun to make many improvements for a more stable user experience so we are are working on the stability end of things.
What we are trying to accomplish is more of a partnership with our residents. We are keeping our prices low, and working with people to give them the best experience we can.
To demonstrate that we are serious about this we have made all uploads free, and they will remain that way. We want people to be able create, be able to save their memories, and not have to worry how much it will cost them to accomplish this.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised since I didn't hear of it until the last week in April when Amar told me about it, but this is the response I get when I mention IW to most people I run into on SL.
There was a group chat going on about the new exporting inventory rules and I "thought" I was in the SL Merchants Group when it was actually the Second Inventory group. During the discussion, someone asked if there was another world to go to.
Enter Czari talking up IW. Someone else said they were on the developer's team for Second Inventory and they couldn't endorse one specific sim. (Errrr, that's when I realized what group I was in...lol.) I said of course, I'm just giving my personal input and if anyone was interested they could come to this site and read the Other World forum and/or check out the IW site. I got my hand "slapped" again by the developer saying the same thing s/he already said. Once again I said I understood that, was not employed, on the dev team, or otherwise connected with IW other than as a resident and I was giving MY personal insight to a question that was asked.
No further chat ensued. Hmmmmm.....
Anyway...I haven't built anything in IW yet (although I have been graciously given free shop space for the time being) because I'm enjoying the people in IW and usually head for the "Coffee Shop" (near the new resident appearance point). I'd become somewhat of a longer on SL but on IW everyone is extremely friendly, helpful and generous by giving things to each other.

Did anyone mention the sims start at 35k prims? ^.^

What is a Private Isle?
Private Isles are full regions, not connected to the mainland, Sah'ra. Private Isles have far more functionality and management capabilities than a mainland region. Private Isles have no rating restrictions, allow estate managers, full flexibility of the estate tools. Private Isles come with a range of prims from 35,000 to 45,000, with the smallest allowable prim being .001 x .001 x .001 to the largest allowable of 128 x 128 x 128.
What do regions cost?
Currently, for beta pricing, all Private Isles are priced at $75/month, with no setup fees attached. Mainland pricing is at $60/month with no setup fees. This will be changing in the future. All Beta residents who purchase land now, will have grandfathered pricing for one year after we come out of beta.
How do I buy a region?
First, determine which type of land you want, then head to the World Map. If you are purchasing Mainland Region, simply find the region on the map, if it's not owned currently, you'll see a "For Sale" button on the info box about that region. Click on it and follow the instructions to PayPal. When you're done paying, PayPal will direct you back to the InWorldz main site. Allow up to 24hours for us to process your request and transfer ownership to you.
If you are purchasing a Private Isle, select one of the InWorldz Oceans available on the map (be kind, please don't select one next to an existing region) and you'll see a "For Sale" button. clicking on this will bring you to a configuration sheet where you can enter the estate name and region name you would like. Allow up to 24hours for us to process this and get your region up and running. If you have any problems do not hesitate to contact us at support@inworldz.com
WEell with 35000 prims to play with, megaprims suddenly become less important :-) Though it does make building easier.
Today I got myself a brand new outfit to look less n00bish, and while at it, ordered a region too. Which I will share with Ama, as I would not know what to do with a full region :-) Let's make Inworldz the next SL, but then better!
Anyone interested in splitting an island? I'm looking at YOU Kavick.
Maybe 4 people, we can each take a 1/4 sim for a whopping $18.75 a month. I'll have to cut down to only one box of moon pies a week, but I can handle it.
Someone want to steer me toward some inventory transfer code?
I've been using the LibSL source for throwing together bots and there is code in there for dumping everything out to XML, but it's not 100% baked.
I'm lazy. I don't want to finish it, I'd rather just unpack my stuff into a plot and dump it to disk.
from what I understand, the secondinventory thing nowadays only transfers things you created yourself, so full perm, even with permission of the creator to transfer outside SL, doesnt work. Did not try it myself though.

Lame.
I can wrap up the code I've got, I'm just lazy. It actually takes everything regardless of ownership/rights and dumps it out. I've no interest in stealing anyones IP, but I refuse to play around with any of Linden Labs time wasting nonsense any more. Their last little customer service fiasco changed things. It'll be fun finding away around the authorized client code if nothing else.

Is there a scripting language up and flying now?
Talking to the wife about it, mang.
She's interested in checking it out. So, hopefully she'll get in there within the next week.
Yay for even more new peeps!! You guys won't be dissapointed- it is just awesome there and the folks so great.
Fatz or anyone with the knowhow - you mentioned xml - I have a friend who is a shape maker and wd come and bring her shapes but doesnt want to rebuild each one - is there a way to dump that info into xml she could just import on the other side?

The previous version of Imprudence has Shape backup, which dumps to .xml
I don't remember if Emerald has this or not. It also was in the Meerkat viewer, I believe.
Saying this, I am unsure if it's against the Third Reic... um SL's TOS or not..
nobody mentioned you can walk ON sculpties!!!.....and not ten feet in the air but literally ON them....as in rocks....in the water...you can walk on them to get to the other side (yes that amuses me to no end!)

Well, that was a total bust.
I created a new account, answered the activation letter, and could not log in. Tried to reset my password -- per the instructions when it could not validate my account password -- and the pasword reset page threw a 404 error.
Beebo if you have not gotten this fixed yet, you will get a quicker response in the IW forum - 3Ring had a similar problem but they were able to get her in after they reset it for her. If you post over there i am sure they will be able to help you and if you like i wd be glad to send a smoke signal out for you.

It's 2004 all over again LOL

This user laughed so hard that they peed a little:
This is frustrating, as there's no native Mac viewer and the Hippo viewer team apparently took Mac off their site.
We'll get there.. Tranq is on a Mac, and will compile a viewer at some point, time allowing. In the meantime, anyone else on a Mac wants to try, the source code is available on the web site.
Met Roxie and Lexxi within the first few minutes, so the "small world" feel was roaring along. Managed to get my own skin and an approximation of my shape together, so I don't look too strange. Finding hair and clothes to suit will take a bit longer; male AO anims that don't make me look stone butch are but a dream so far.
So next time in I'll do a bit of exploring. Feel free to Friend me -- Beebo Brink, as always.
when I wake up tomorrow...I have a mix of female static (they were made with Qavimator and in hindsight now that I'm working with Blender...they are not the best...but will work for now for anyone who likes that sort of thing) that I made along with mix of other animations that were in the ZHAO Lecktor passed me a while back.
As long as I can move tomorrow and get to a computer...I'll set them up full perm over at Test the Waters and figure out how to also get them into the freebie IDI area. I gardened all weekend....I'm sore....so it might be delayed a few hours.
Male animations along with limited movement female ones should be out by the end of the week if all goes well.
