Well someday soon my friends, this ride will come to an end
But we can't just get in line again.

It helps if you enjoy everything including really bad karaoke, of course. If you don't, you'll want to concentrate on people who are actually good. We had a thread on that awhile back:
If you're a girl who likes the company of girls, the FABglitter club (somewhere more or less in the center of Mooter) has frequent events, pretty much around the clock, or at least it seems that way. And the people and conversation are fun. (I can see their green dots from my Park in Hughes Rise, and sometimes I go there when I am a girl; they aren't strict that way.)
Persephone Phoenix's Blue Angel Poet's Dive is a wonderful place to hang out, listen to poetry readings, dance on the bar, and talk to smart people.
Tiphares is one of my favorite clubs. They have regular events on Sunday nights, and also some other times that I can never remember. Very friendly an' intelligent regulars.
Last year when I was on more there used to be an amazing live blues singer that performed every week but she's gone now
There is still alot of good live blues. There's someone with a really unlikely name what was it...
Komuso Tokugawa!
... who a friend of mine swear is "better than sex". I wouldn't go that far myself but if you like blues guitar and smoky male vocals, he's good. Performs at what seem like random odd hours (he's in Japan, I believe, but the odd hours aren't that simple...).

Meh...
Komasu is an ass.
First off, I've heard better blues in pubs.
Second, guy's a fucking prima donna.
I think it was San's birthday, and P2 hired him to play for them at a party in Darkmere.
So far so good.
So he turns up, weve already built a stage for him, and one of his entourage (yes he comes complete with roadies) starts to build a fucking stage on top of other shit thats laid out in the village, and ignores people telling him theres a stage already.
So, onto the show.
Komasu is already being paid to perform at a private fucking function.
He puts out a tip jar, and mentions it constantly between songs....
He TPs in his fucking fan club, most of them strangers to everyone there, including P2 and Sans, filling the sim, and making it impossible for people P2 and Sans invited to get to the party.
Komasu can go suck shit covered donkey dick as far as I'm concerned.
Hes a greedy fuck of a prima donna, and isn't good enough to perform in any real blues venue

heh, interesting! Obviously opinions differ. I thought the music was pretty good (an' like I say my friend goes bonkers over it). I've never dealt with him in any way besides listening to his music tho.

I missed half the party because of it and almost didn't get my socks!

On the other hand, when I was hospitalized last year, Komuso did a benefit concert and donated the proceeds to us.
YMMV.

I have hired Ko numerous times at my venue and talk with him occasionally hes been great.
(not to discredit what Lucifer has said, cuz wow that sucks)
and to add my man Tukso Okey, now thats something you never can explain.
Noma shes my girl beautiful person too.
Etherian and when he gets Mr.Charles E Bristol going its just a wonderful thing.
These are the ones I consistently hire at my venue. Which I have taken down thou for now maybe next year.
oh and my good friend who I pushed to get her but out there and sing is Taunter Goodnight.

Maybe Kom was having a bad night then, Luc. We've talked about this, and my experience has been totally different. Kom's played at Triumph Cove nearly every Thursday for the last two years, and while, yeah, he IS a character with strong opinions and very outspoken, he's a dear. Maybe a little like you, huh?

I really love Kumoso, too. I've been a fan of his since his 2nd performance in SL. I can't get to his shows as much as I'd like, but he also gives away mp3s of his music sort of open source (pay what you want). His help and concern when Phoe was in the hospital is very much appreciated.
Meatspace Lounge- Kyle Beltran's gorgeous sim. Best blues inworld.
Dogglounge--classy house lounge inworld, first place I spend time in when I rezzed in '07.
Arilynn took me to a wonderful coffeehouse inworld the other day-- can't recall the name.
The Velvet, been there a few times, but I logged out there once on my alt and when I logged back in (a couple months later) it wasn't there anymore... did they move? I'll have to look it up.

It's in the southeast corner of the Downtown sim, still going strong. Music and conversation are good. That is one of the joys of clubbing in SL that is NPIRL: that you can have conversations without straining your voice while music is playing. Of course, the dancing is virtual, but it can be aesthetically pleasing.

Seconding recommendations for the Velvet and Tiphares. I never have to mute anyone for stupidity in either place.
Madhu's Cafe has a Monday night world music show that's always good.
Frank's Jazz Club is *the* singles dance club for lonely desperate housewives, so if you're into that sort of thing (or people watching in general) it can be fun. Sim's always full - guess there's a lot of desperate housewives in SL.
