Burning Man exploited for commercial publicity stunt
Burning Man is a pretty free-wheeling place, but if there's one thing they're all equally anal about, it's commercialism. Conspicuous branding is actively discouraged, and commercial exploitation is expressly prohibited.
At last year's Burning Man, evidently Krug Champagne (in collaboration with a posh NYC restaurant) staged a commercial stunt. After sneaking in hired professional photographers under the guise of "general press" (which included signing agreements not to use photographs taken at the event for commercial purposes), Krug set up an invite-only catered dinner including actors with professionally made "Burning Man-themed costumes" in a desolate corner of the event area, which was photographed in detail. At the conclusion of the dinner, the entire party seems to have left the event, leaving their tables and the refuse from the dinner behind for other Burning Man participants and organizers to clean up.
Krug then openly publicized their "wonderful champagne dinner at Burning Man" as an advertisement, both on the web and in print magazines. One magazine in particular, Town & Country, asked Burning Man for permission to publish a photo essay of the feast in one of their issues (as required by the agreement their photographers signed); Burning Man denied permission, and Town & Country published the photo essay anyway.

Well but in fairness, LL doesn't get to promote itself at Burning Life. LL owns the grid; but there's dozens of RL regional burns held on privately-owned rented campgrounds; it's pretty much the same thing I think.
If you put people in boxes, not all of them are going to fit, but you notice the ones who fit best are the most "out of the box" people in the series...
