Does anyone know of any designers whose dresses/skirts do not render you completely invisible underneath? I've come across a few dresses, which are marvelous!

I mean...what's the point of having all this lingerie?

Your talking mesh clothing? If "yes," then "no." The problems with mesh clothing without a deformer are terrible if you don't want your assets alpha-ed out of existence. It goes with the territory, if you wear mesh. If I wear a mesh dress, if I try it without the alpha layer, either I have to wear an L or XL and look like I'm wearing a size 18 on a size 6 frame, or I give up and wear an S and the alpha layer.

Mesh and lingerie don't mix.

Unless you tailor your shape down, which with outfits is easy to work around. Then, just don't wear the alpha layer on your pared down shape and you can wear all the lingerie you want and have it be seen by prying eyes.

I disagree. I have a wonderful dress from Volstead which doesn't even use an alpha layer. I have a few mesh skirts which use the alpha layer but don't completely erase my body.

I'm just looking for more.

You must fit the standard sizes pretty well. You sound like you're among the fortunate few. If that is the case, I don't understand your problem at all. It seems to me that just about anything would do.

Standard sizes totally fail to work for the pear-shaped avatar: larger butt, large thighs, slight tummy, small bust. Even the Volstead chemise, which I love, I have to wear a large or my tummy sticks out (or wear a flat tummy shape).

I'm pretty curvy, too...it's just that the alpha layers often "cover" more real estate than they need to (IMO).

I have lots of mesh dresses/skirts/jackets/pants, etc...it's just that I want designers to make their alpha layers...shorter?

I've given up lingerie in SL unless for a photo shoot. Which kind of sucks because I'm always thinking someone is camming up my clothing.
Then again, the alpha layer erases all of those bits so no biggie.
Then again, it isn't like I'm stripping down for anyone anymore there. He's seen it in person.

Esp with mesh, I really make sure to be wearing lingerie...I've seen more wardrobe malfunctions with people wearing mesh than I ever did with system/prim clothing!

Yes! I resisted upgrading to a mesh-compatible viewer for a while (not because I disliked mesh but mostly because I was lazy and couldn't be bothered with all the setup and stuff). The thing that finally made me stop being lazy and get the mesh viewer was mesh clothing becoming really popular, and here's why. Ladies, when you wear a mesh shirt, people with non-mesh viewers will see either 1) your chestises just hanging right out of your shirt, like the shirt was made that way; 2) your shirt as just a little crumpled-up ball-of-paper looking thing sticking out of your tummy, leaving most of you bare; or 3) nothing at all, just you standing there without a shirt (or skirt, etc). Non-mesh viewers do not render the alpha-clothing layer at all. So they will see 'everything' - unless you wear underwear of some kind!

As for the alpha layer problems - well, I do know that some places sell just alpha layers. It's mostly designed for like if you want to wear more than one mesh clothing item at a time - say like, mesh shoes and a mesh top. Your mesh top maker included an alpha layer top, but if you're wearing it, you can't also wear your shoes' alpha layer at the same time. So, people sell alpha layers which are combinations, like one alpha that invisibles both your chest and your feets. Or your chest and your skirt region. Anyway, I think people sell these alpha combinations in sets, and I'm guessing someone somewhere sells like different-length-skirt alpha layers and what not. So you might try checking the marketplace for just alpha layers and seeing if you can find something that way.

I just "add" alpha layers as needed from each outfit; i.e. the alpha layer from my shoes gets added instead of "worn" after I've worn the first alpha layer of my dress. If I need another alpha layer, for instance if the hair I'm wearing requires it, I use "add" again, not "wear".

I believe you can have 3 alphas on at the same time. Might be 4, don't remember.

Sn@tch doesn't do the whole "erase your whole lower body" alpha. At least on the few skirts I have.

Spent some time at Sn@tch last night, picking up demos and checking alpha layers.

Thanks again!

Erratic has great stuff Mo. Basic pieces that are richly textured and don't look cookie-cutter to a lot out there. The leather pants are amazing and a couple of their dresses are heavy on my rotation list.
