I'll also add that everyone looks too old in this, really.

Most of the young men are teenagers, literally, in the books. Robb is 15/16. So are the young women, Sansa is only 12/13 at this point.

Luc was mentioning Joffrey, who is supposed to have longish, curly blond hair and big red Mick Jagger lips, too.

But I wouldn't trade the actor playing him for any book-correct looking kid. He's perfect.

Jaime, though, should be much more beautiful, imho. He just doesn't have the KingSlayer Glamor to me.

When it comes to Jamie, no actor comes to mind, it's just like when I was thinking who would have made the perfect Lestat (NOT Tom Cruise) and couldn't think of a long haired, gorgeous blond actor that fit. Even when she hates him more than anything on earth, Catelyn thinks he is the most beautiful man she'd ever seen. He is Cersei's twin, after-all.

You know who was like, "they took him right out of my head" perfect to me? Benjen Stark. He looked exactly like I imagined him.

funny that i totally agree with this...in a heterosexual type way.

Really thought Catelyn would look a little more beautiful. All the curly haired "boys" are disturbing in that, i never once imagined curly hair on any character in the books.

I cant make up my mind on Daenerys. Somedays i love the actress playing her, others not.

I still wonder if you can really follow everything that is going on if you have not read the books.

Could be they think the only people who are going to watch the show are the ones who read the books.

The only "boys" I expected to have curly hair were Jaime, Joffrey and Tommen.

I don't think if you read the books, you can "see" this the way everyone else does because you are filling in all the blanks in your head, you know? All the backstory, all the stuff they leave out.

Yeah, Catelyn wasn't like I imagined her, either. The one playing her sister is great though, heh.

Yeah and Jon should have long, straight black hair, as well.

I was also thinking, who had the most sex in the first three books compared to the series?

Rapists, heh.

Then... Tyrion. Dany. And eventually.... Jon.

Also, they should have made Sansa's hair much more auburn, she had her mother's hair.

The kid playing Arya is pretty perfect, though, I admit.

IMHO, neither Jaime NOR Cersei are attractive enough.

As far as thinking of long haired, gorgeous blonde actors, well, that's what wigs are for.

Someone on one of the GoT forums said a few years ago that they saw Heath Ledger as Jaime, but at that point he had already died. I'm not too sure about how he would have done in the role, but he certainly would have have been a possibility, although at $20 million a picture post-Dark Knight, he probably would have been out of HBO's price range.

Yeah..... Heath would have been closer, interesting.

I love the actress playing Cersei so really, I can't complain, she is beautiful and believable as the character. She seems made to play a queen, the first time I saw her was as the Queen in The 300 and I fell for her.

I think the actor playing Theon Greyjoy isn't pretty enough, and the actor playing Jon is too pretty. I feel like the show's casting is manipulating the audience's goodwill with those two especially. I think Cersei and Jaime aren't as beautiful as they are in the books because of that, too, and neither is Lysa Arryn (she's supposed to be plump, actually, and I was really disappointed by the casting of her). My favorite character (one of them) is The Hound. They did perfectly with him, especially in the voice department (because voice always makes a difference), so I was somewhat appeased by that.

Yeah, I forgot the Hound, he is perfect, as well.

You are probably right, can't have the "bad guys" being too beautiful, unless they are Beautiful Evil Queens or whatever.

Even though the books are constant shades of grey, deliberately. Characters you may hate one book, you start to admire in another. There are plenty of peripheral characters that are just.... fucking scum who need to die in a fire. Everyone else is just.... human.

Oh and Charles Dance as Twyin Lannister was perfect casting. I tend to forget since I spent so much time hating the character while reading the books, heh.

I've decided the closest I can get to a believable Jaime Lannister is Brad Pitt in his prime, like around when he did Troy. He would have to be beautiful but also believable as a total warrior, the best in the land, actually.

Totally agreeing with Io on casting. Arya is spot on.

Arya and Tyrion are great in the books and the series.

I didnt catch that Cersei was in "300" also and agree she fits the role well. Jaime not so much so.

Theon, I think is either not being portrayed well by the actor or the writers are trying to oversell him as being bad. I'm trying to not give away anything from the books. Theon, came across to me as just being Rogueish, then later making some poor choices to impress his father. From the moment i saw him in the show Ive not liked him. He again seems so childish.

That "greyness" to characters isnt as easy to portray on the show it seems. At least so far in my opinion.

*sorry didnt read Sansarya's post before i posted. Basically what she said. *

I dislike that Theon casting, I keep trying to find reasons for him and was it the cold steel blue eyes. That may be what brings him closer to the book but then that is me trying to hard which I think the actor is anyway.
I think most are placed pretty well and Jamie is a good choice. However, I still have not read that last book. I did not want to buy the hard cover because it would not fit my collection of larger soft copies. I need to get on it.

Yes, it's official.

HBO has ordered a third season of GAME OF THRONES.

Like the first two seasons, it will be ten episodes long. This one will cover (roughly) the first half or thereabouts of A STORM OF SWORDS, the third novel in the series.

I'll be writing the seventh episode, with the working title "Autumn Storms."

Full details can be found at a dozen other places on the web, so I won't rehash 'em here. Just wanted to pass along the news to my faithful readers.

We had a grab event tonight at the Bloomsbury Theatre. Now I'm tired. night, all.

The way I look at the deviations in the show is this: GRRM is listed as Executive Producer. Sometimes that doesn't mean doodly squat, but in this case, from what I understand, it means quite a bit. He has had a huge amount of input and has also written a number of episodes. To me, this sort of means that the deviations are somehow "authorized," almost as if he's rewriting the books slightly for the television audience.

OMG! I knew I recohgnized the actress that plays Osha, but I couldn't place her and I didn't take the time to look her up on IMDB...

I was reading comments on the recap at RollingStone.com and someone said something that made me realize who she is...

WE'VE SEEN TONKS NAKED.

Now every time we see Osha I'm going to halfway expect her to say, "Don't call me Nymphadora!"

Also, I'm not supposed to like Tywin, but I'm liking him more each week. Geez...

Also, I cheered because The Hound saved Sansa, which thankfully they're NOT deviating from the book in the show because I was looking for a relationship between the two (even though in Storm of Swords, George made it seem ...
The Hound had died of infection/at Arya's hands
Huge deviation indeed. Im having Sword of Truth/Legend of the Sword or whatever flashbacks.

And nope. not supposed to like Tywin at all. He actually smiles? Arya smiles at him? what!!!

Reminds me again how Arya wasted her 3 deaths.

I cant stomach the Theon parts. He's just disgusting.

The Hound and Sansa's relationship is being done well but did they really have to leave out losing that maidservant in the crowd? Oh wait they have Shae in her spot and it would get confusing...ok it is confusing.

They're really going off with the whole Qarth story. That's cool though.

I like the actress playing Ygritte. She seems like a lot of fun.

I like the scenes between Tywin and Arya and between Cersei and Tyrion. They have so many emotional underpinnings, and they're soooo tension-filled (if you've read the books). I was wondering how people who hadn't read the books reacted to the ending of last night's episode.

But did you like Tywin at all when you read the books?

Nope, but in the books Arya developed the same kind of relationship with Roose Bolton, her father's bannerman, when she served as his cup bearer/leecher at Harrenhal. I didn't come to like Roose Bolton, but they've developed this thing with Tywin and I'm dying to see where it goes.
