So how's that drought going, Govi?

Evidently LA got hit with a tornado yesterday. I small F-0 and there were no reported deaths or injuries, but some property damage over a 10-block area. Weird weather.

Fallen trees (2.5 foot redwood, 3 foot cedar) closed our road, took out our power. Amazing to us, PG&E had us back up and going after 36 hours! So grateful to them for being so quick. Water in our basement when a 30 minute downpour overwhelmed our gutter system.

Equally amazing to us was that the powerful winds here did not blow down any trees near us, nor break off any big limbs from the surrounding redwoods, cedars, and firs.

So, on the whole, we're pretty good, thank you.

From what I've read, the rain pretty much skipped the Central Valley, though it's going to dump snow big time on the Sierra Nevada mountains. So, drought relief in the high places, but not in farm country.

<sigh>

Another storm coming Monday. It's said that the Pineapple Express has us in its sights for the next month or more. This means storms every two or three days until the jet stream's attentions wander away.

You're really in the thick of it up there!
Stay safe!

We've only had maybe an inch, inch and a half so far.
The roads don't even have any snow on them currently, but I suspect black ice to start forming soon if it hasn't already.

OH!
And don't forget your french toast supplies!
(Why is it that everyone rushes out for milk, eggs and bread anyway?)
(Even Chris Christie alluded to that today when he suggested going out to get supplies, but then said he didn't know why people were buying so much bread. lol)

A friend of mine who lives in Boston says she was off today too. They're still digging out. It was a huge storm.

Made it through fine - Travel ban kept us off the roads, never made French Toast, but I could've if I wanted to! v got a nice vacation yesterday, and had a delayed start to her day at the office today. The city she works in had a record breaking snowfall yesterday, so I'm sure everyone there was late

My kid spent the afternoon with friends, sledding and making giant snow dicks on the old high school steps....sigh.

Only story I got was when we first took Ming Fu out to pee in the morning, he refused to go outside...I had to throw him into a pile of snow already almost twice as deep as he is tall and make him stay there until he went. I've never read so much "What the fuck did you do that for?" on a dog's face before...

View down my driveway:

View if you turned right at the end of my driveway:

Sorry, I went a little silly for a minute there.

Glad everyone is well and got mini-vacations.
Sorry about MingFu having a 300 moment, but glad he got to pee.
And hey... giant dicks aren't only funny, they're easy to make!

That is a lot of snow though... jeepers.

So our official total last week was 30 inches - town next door to us had the jackpot with a full 36".

In the last 5 hours, we've gotten 6-8 more inches, and it's not expected to stop until this evening.

That's some crazy snowfall!
I've seen the weather reports/maps on the news throughou yesterday and today... just... it's insane!
(Jose Diaz-Balart keeps comparing it all to Groundhog Day.)

And while the northeast is getting buried in snow, parts of California have had the driest January in over a hundred years.

Yay for crazy weather! :P

Final total yesterday, 20.7 inches. On top of 30 inches last week. 5 feet o'snow in 7 days.

That's enough

Wow, Spaceman. We are in Tahoe right now, it's so dry here. Normally, there would be crazy snow, but the past few years it's been depressingly dry. There's more rain than snow up here anymore. Stay safe.

That's a good point... I wonder how long the snow will take to completely melt!
I hope it ends up dumping less than expected... it's just getting ridiculous up there now!

That screwdriver was sent with love, Johnny

Sent with love from under 6 feet of snow, but love nonetheless.

Dear everybody except for Spacey (and anyone else in Mass.), I cordially invite you to take several steps backwards before they find out they're getting MORE snow this weekend.

"Potential for significant snow"...which that particular weatherdude had just said he considered "at least 6 inches", with possible blizzard conditions for a while Sunday.

And another possible big storm next Tuesday.

It's getting fucking dangerous out there. Streets here are kinda narrow to begin with (hell...my city still has two cobblestone streets), and we've been called the 2nd hilliest city in the nation only to San Francisco...whether that's true or local tall tale I dunno, but I do know I've made people lose their lunch going down a particular hill (0-45 mph in 500 feet with no gas applied )

Add to that plow piles taller than most cars and some SUVs, and you've got a recipe for fun

I park alongside the neighbor's yard. I brushed the snow off the roof of my car into the yard the other day and it didn't lose any height when it left the roof.

AND I didn't win Powerball, so I can't even fly away to Aruba

The west coast needs to send some of their warmer than average temps your way!
I mean... this is just crazynuts!

Maybe we should send Pat Robertson up there and he can help with all that hot air he's blowing!

Also, sorry... but, I didn't win Powerball either.
If I did, I could've sent you a hot air balloon or a fleet of Hummers or something.

Stay safe!!

If tomorrow's storm gives us the 12 inches it's expected to, my town will have had 7 feet, 9 inches of snow so far this season.

Washington.
When you're ready.
Get movers.

We'll meet you there.
(We just have to figure out our own when and how.)

Oh... and make sure you're west of the Cascade Mountains!
