So I'm shopping around for stuff for my house - for example that kitchen I was mentioning. I'm finding lots of really neat stuff, too. But - what a pain! Most of the furniture in my house as you can see is that nice white-but-not-too-white wood, and it goes really well with the colors of the house, so I'm looking at things in that color. But it's sometimes a hassle to search on Marketplace; I've seen different creators describe the same wood as "pine", "beech", and "walnut", and other creators tag those words to wood that's completely different shades.

So far shopping for this kind of thing seems best done at in-world stores. But some of the nice furniture I saw on Marketplace doesn't seem to be getting sold at in-world stores. I guess they'll miss out on a sale.

I rezzed my like three-years-old SLopoly table just to see how it would fit in the living/dining room, and noticed an "update" button. So I hit it. Whoops! It said "please wait" in chat, and then the thing just vanished! Completely!

After some like five exruciating and confused minutes, I got a delivery of a new "simopolis" table. The game is functionally identical; just the board designs and fonts have now been changed slightly from the famous Monopoly designs, prolly to avoid copyright issues I guess. For instance, instead of Chance and Community Chest cards, now they're "Karma" and "Encounter" cards. But it's all good. The newer table also has lots more texture options and I was able to find one that matches the rest of my furniture.

Cody, try "maple".

Isablan Neva also makes gorgeous houses. She made this for me once as a custom build - I had a parcel in Spinach, on a very steep mountainside. She designed the tree to grow right out of my land - amazing!

I was reading The Thread today. Then I looked around at it's attempted offspring. I didn't realize this one got to 5723 posts. Neat.

Let's just say that in 1996 I was certainly watching cartoons, but "teenage mutant ninja turtles" wasn't one of them.

I've never seen a single episode of the series, of the movie(s?), nor read anything with them in it.

1987-1996, eh? hmm. well, all I can say, I guess, is that I wasn't much into comic shows at the time. Though I sure did like Bugs Bunny. Every time I hear classical music I picture Bugs bouncing around.

Turtles. That fight. Ninja style. Does not sound very interesting.

My new wall clock:

Really keeps SL time. Or any normal time zone you set it to.

No no, it's bought. I could prolly write such a script; but I know way too little about sculpting yet to produce visual quality like that.

I once made a working windmill. It was one of those huge Dutch things. The blade speed depended on the SL wind magnitude, and the hub of the blades rotated on the SL wind direction. Took me days to get it right. Of course, back in those days, the SL wind vectors randomized every minute or so, so my poor windmill was practically doing backflips to keep up. I think LL may have changed that.

Speaking of clocks, I bought one of those retro Kitty clocks for my SL house, like this:

It keeps SL time...but what I didn't realize is....it also meows!!

So for days, I kept hearing a kitty in my house...and I knew I didn't have one. I kept searching the area for a stray kitty cat...none to be seen...

Then I realized...duh! It's the clock!

Oh, and hi everyone! *waves*

I do not know whether they changed it; I hope so too though. That was pretty frustrating; I had a couple vehicles - for instance, a hot-air balloon - that had an option to interact with the SL sim wind, but it was an exercise in silliness for the exact reason you gave - every minute the direction and speed changed. So you wanted to have a nice flight over a few sims, and it could end up taking as much as an hour to even leave your starting sim IF you left it at all. I honestly do not know why LL created physical wind to behave in such a manner; there seems to be no possible use or advantage to it.

I had a sailing ship that, when rezzed, randomly created its own "wind parameters" which you had to sail by, and these would change only once every 25 minutes or so. Also, IIRC the folks behind the sailing sims and their races created a system that broadcasted its own wind parameters sim-wide which multiple properly-equipped boats could hear and sail to, making their regattas possible and fair.

Wish it were here. That would mean less than an hour to go.

I've spent the entire day putting out one mini-crisis after another at work.
