I just started reading the first book this weekend. My Kindle says I am 33% done. I wasnt sure I would enjoy reading it after watching the show but I am loving learning many of the back stories and learning more about the characters. So far the show seems to be sticking to the book pretty well.

So, is season two still part of the first book?

No, S2 is based on the second book, A Clash Of Kings.

I don't think it is, there may be parts that came from The Game of Thrones, but I'm not sure (I didn't watch this season yet). I do know there was quite a departure from the books just by reading this thread.

Enjoy reading the books!

Plus $1800 shipping... oh, and it's not iron, it's fiberglass and resin. You'd think for 30 G's you'd get actual iron.

For that price, you could have your own personal version forged from real swords of iron!

Imagine the weight of a real iron throne made from real swords. I don't think the floor in our bathroom would support it!

I love the casting for the Reeds! Jojen is perfect, though they've only shown Meera a little bit, she seems perfect, too. Even though they deviated from the book a few times in the latest episode (Lady Catelyn talking about praying for John Snow to live, The Hound identifying Arya in from of the Brothers Without Banners...), I like the changes they made.

Somehow we missed the part in last week's episode where the Night's Watch were attacked by the wights. They keep referring to it and showed scenes from it, but we missed that part. Maybe because we were anxious to not miss The Walking Dead finale?

I knew last night was going to be epic.

I just wish we had gotten to see the fight between Dondarrion and the Hound.

Also the best part of the Dany story was when she revealed she spoke Valeryian. But that whole part was totally awesome.

So now, with an 8000-strong army of the most badass and loyal soldiers in the world, along with a three-dragon squadron of close air support, I'm guessing that the Khalisi is now going to march into the Western lands and

First four books were great. Book five...seriously, over a thousand pages of YAWN mostly about Dany. Season 5 for HBO is going to have to be reworked or skipped.

well they already are reworking a lot of it. I had a hard time with book five as well. But if you've noticed, a lot of the Theon storyline from Book 4 is happening now. That's because almost nothing happens to Theon in Book 3. And they didn't want Alfie Allen sitting around for 2 years doing nothing and yet they have to keep him on contract if they want him guaranteed for Book 4. (I say two years because they have announced that Book 3 is so massive that they will need 2 years to do it all).

So I think you'll see some stuff sooner than later and other stuff later than sooner -- they have to mix it up kind of a lot to take into consideration the schedules of actors and the like.

I have to admit, I'm a little bit jealous of Melisandre's "private time" with Gendry tonight. That boy is a cutie. (hope she doesn't kill him off.)

I felt so sorry for Sansa.

14!

Also I thought she showed remarkable poise for a 14 year old on hearing that Tywin had commanded teh sexxors.

I like Sansa a lot more in the tv show than in the books. She's a lot less annoying on the show. I can actually feel sorry for her and not hope for her death.

The scene with the White one was good technical effects.
