I never got the Clapton worship, I guess those kinds never heard the blues guitar until he played it, but it's not a competition. There are several guitarists who were/are brilliant.

Quite true. I think you're "spot on," as they say in the UK, that a lot of the "Clapton Is God" thing came from young people in Britain being exposed to the blues for the first time, and of course besides the Holy Trinity there were many other superb guitarists; merely including the British ones turns up guys like Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac), Martin Barre (Jethro Tull), Richard Thompson (Fairport Convention), George Harrison (some outfit called Johnny and the Moondogs), Robert Fripp (King Crimson), John McLaughlin (Mahavishnu Orchestra), Peter Townshend (The Who), Paul Kossoff (Free), and many others.

I'm a rather big Gilmore fan, as well.

The guitar solo in Echos in Live at Pompeii is one of my favorites but can't link just that part, and then when the bass kicks in, oh my. Don't tell Luc but watching Gilmore, young and shirtless playing this makes me want to get on my knees and suck his dick.

Never mind, I found a youtube of just the solo bit

NO, again, it was cut off at the end fuck it.

I edited my Gilmour post, there *was* a vid with just the solo.

I also found this cool thing, dig the little boy Page.

Yeah, the human hand can produce a much wider array of sounds on guitar than the pick.
Who woulda thunk it?

I only will use a pick if I'm playin' some Iron Maiden or Metallica, or some Chris Squire bass lines.

I'm going to be boring and repetitive once more.

Roy Buchanan really gets to me - I'd hate to be his guitar and live in that much pain and anguish:

I also love his range of feeling, even within the one song:

Thanks Io!

"Marooned" is possibly my favourite Gilmore solo.

I actually prefer the original studio track over the live-version above (for me, less is more on this number, and the studio track goes that way). But I figured I'd do Luc a favour, and show the older Gilmour.
