And now, time for the last beer.
My (hopefully) velvety smooth, or at least tasty, stout.

Let's find out, shall we?

Beer #3:

(Alc. 8.5%)
(Captain Lawrence - Pastry Dreams)

Smelly - Sweetish malt and vanilla coffee.

Tasty - Black coffee with vanilla extract. With a slightly nutty, distant back end.

Overally, not a bad stout. Kind of a standard "good stout, man"... as in, it's not overly sweet or bitter. The profile definitely isn't as tempting as some others I've had, but it's nowhere near the turnoff some have been either.

...

k, let me..
Oh... "pastry dreams"... mmhmm...

*searches for a pic*

meh
I thought I was going to find something way better.

Instead, you get...
this...

I did it!
Only one week in between drinkin nights!
YAY ME!

Ok, enough celebrating in an empty room.

Beer #1:

(Alc. 8.2%)
(Great Barn - Hazy Acres IPA)

Smells - Orange citrus and a bit of dry hay introduce a biscuit-y body, while suggestions of pine linger in the distance.

Tastes - Orange citrus and hay, giving way to a pithy pine back end.

Overalls, this is a decent beer. And it's very much "a beer". The flavors I reviewed had to be teased out a bit, as it really just drinks like a standard ale of good quality. It does shine in the aspect that it doesn't get too bitter or play around with being sweet. A solid brew without being eccentric.

K, moving on.

Beer #2:

(Alc. 8%)
(Three 3's - Here's The Scoop)

Smellin: Faint guava touched by red currant leading into a sweet, hoppy body.

Tastin: Dank guava trailed by red currant, passing by a memory of funky pine in the end.

Overallin, this isn't as much of a "milkshake" IPA I would've wanted, but it doesn't entirely miss that mark either. That said, it's still yummy and it leaves a little extra sweetness on your lips. (A bit funky though.)

Damn.. over an hour later.
Not that it matters much.

Beer #3:

(Alc. 10%)
(Half Acre - Big Hugs : Imperial Coffee Stout)

Smellerin: Dark chocolate nibs, black coffee, and a touch of vanilla. (And kinda metallic.) Bready body with some sweet malt foundation.

Tasterin - Smokey black coffee grounds. Bitter dark chocolate follows faintly behind. Bitter vanilla meanders through on the down low. A reserved sweet malt foundation serves as a balance.

Overallerin, this is a fairly robust stout. None of the bitterness is overwhelming or anything, it's just the prevalent profile note(s). Honestly, I would've named/labeled it something more fitting, but that's neither here nor there. It's pretty good shit and that's the that of that.

..
.
now...

yup.

Sup bitches
I'm getting an early start tonight.

GO!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 9%)
(Church Street - Brewcifer) (DIPA)

Smell: Bright citrus and sweet stone fruit travel through a field of wheat.

Taste: Nectarine and peach. Rising grapefruit pith becomes bitter hops in the hay lined end.

Overall, this starts out bright and turns into a bitter end, but not too bitter. Like moving from an orchard to a hay field. It's a good, solid brew.

...

I honestly don't know how to do the label justice with a naughty pic.
Or, at least, not without spending more time on it than I want to.
Nothing good is coming up.

So.. nyah
I'll try again on the next beer.

That was nice, right?
Such a soothing (even if Luciferian) label....

but then, there was...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 7.2%)
(Surly - Todd The Axe Man) (IPA)

Smells: Bright citrus and soft pine, with a touch of bitter hops far enough away to almost be tomorrow.

Tastes: Piney citrus intro hangs around until fading into dry hops on the outro.

Overalls, that's a pretty fine beer. I mean.. that really is a pretty fine beer! It's got thickness to the body and a solid flavor profile, all without being pushy or overly complex. good shit

...

It's not nude,
but I did promise a pic.

So, here ya's go...

I've had two beers.
They were both IPAs.

It's time for number three.

It's time for stout.

Beer #3:

(Alc. 9.1%)
(River Horse - Craic) (Imperial Stout)

Smellin: Vanilla beans on fresh brewed coffee, in front of a faded sweet malt background.

Tastin: Smoky vanilla fades into medium-bodied black coffee. A gentle, sweet malt deftly provides the undergirding.

Overallin, this is an absolutely wonderful stout. It's smooth and laid back, never asking anything of you... just there as our companion.

...

Sorry I didn't get to any titties or throbbing cocks, but hey... sometimes things are what they are.

Like tonight.
Tonight is what it is, which is that is not a night for usual nudes.
I went with what moved me.
(Which I would say is pretty fuckin sexy)

Anyway.

Hey everyone, anyone, or no one...

I know it's been 2 weeks already, but It's going to end up being at least 3 weeks between reviews.
At least 3 weeks.

My father in law passed away.
I think around a week ago.
Maybe 2.

Everything is a blur between his passing and the coronavirus.

So, maybe I'll have a review this coming weekend.

Stay safe, stay healthy.

Hello again, bruvas and sistas.
Time for a li'l bit of the ol' drinky drink, yeah?
I know I been gone' long time, but mefinks yeah.

Fook it urp

Beer #1:

(Alc. 7.3%)
(Last Wave - Frothing Peach Milkshake IPA)

Smell - Bright eyed peaches/sweet lactose greet us first, but hide dry pine in the background.

Taste - Crisp and gently sweet peach, followed by smooth peach. An almost silent thread of pine from start to finish, with a slow flourish on the outro.

Overall, this is a mighty fine brew, people. Exceedingly pleasant to drink with a bit of warmth on the end. It's a crisp, bright, fruity, pleasant thing that's almost entirely devoid of any bitterness. I'd say there is a faint moment a bit after swallowing a sip, but it only serves to round out the flavor rather than producing an actual bitter moment.

...

Ok.
So.
There we are.

And here we are.

About to view the matching pic I chose.

And here she is:

Damn that was a fine beer.
I don't expect as much from the second one of the night.

But hey, there's only one way to find out, yeah?
Yeah.

Beer #2!

(Alc. 9%)
(Jughandle - Pitch Drop)

Smell - (light scents) Stone fruit with a touch of citrus. Herbaceous hops fill out the rest of the profile with a hint of pine.

Taste - Standard Five Alive flavor in a beer. Hops are present, but not overly bitter. Herbaceous in the first quarter, bitter gains the rest of the way through, but never too bitter.

Overall, as I say, it's like Five Alive in beer form. I find this to be a very common profile in beers that incorporate stone fruit flavor. There are variations though. For instance, this one proves to be more palatable (to me) due to the low bitterness. A solid showing for this brewing trope.

...

Oh yeah.
A pic, right?

hmm..
one sec...

*looks for awhile*

OK!
Here we go!

Only half hour later and I'm working on this post already!
sweeet

anyway...

Beer #3!!!

(Alc. 11.5%)
(Evil Twin - Imperial Biscotti Chili Hazelnut Break)

Smells: Wait wut? Dark Chocolate, coffee grounds, bits of vanilla, and a sprinkling of chili? On a sweet malty base with that familiar raisin bent?

Tastes: Smooth entrance by coffee grounds and bitter dark chocolate. Then moves on to sweet mal... no, wait, a moment of chili heat. With everything rounded to pleasing degrees.

Overalls, I expected this brew to be more heavy handed than it is. Don't get me wrong... it's not as easy as a peach milkshake beer, but in the world of coffee/chocolate stouts, this is a nice smooth brew with wonderful chili heat that's one of the few welcome lingerers in the world!

...

So, you know how I'm always trying to match pics to the beer?
And sometimes it's literal and sometimes inspired?
(and sometimes results in nothing, but i digress)

Well, tonight I figured something out.
I found a pic.
It may not be specifically literal to the name of the beer, but it is specifically inspired by it.

So...

This is all I''m talking about:

HEY THERE!
How y'all doing?
Everyone hanging in there?
I sure hope so!!

I've got some new beers, which is obvious... but I'm kind of anxious and excited.
None of them are from breweries that are in regular rotations.
Some great labels got me like, mmkay!
(And they're all IPAs.)

Let's get to it!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 8.2%)
(Connecticut Valley Brewing Co. - Sherwood)

Smell: Nectarine with some peach and grapefruit with a pine background.

Taste: Juicy nectarine and peach lead into subtle grapefruit with softly dry pine growing into a gently warm outro.

Overall, it's fairly juicy and the bitter notes from the grapefruit are subtle, just as the dry notes are from the pine. Very well balanced brew that has gotten better as I make my way down the glass!

..

So, I went looking for a pic and found out this beer isn't about Robin Hood at all!
It's based on a state park in Connecticut!

I'm not finding anything great for Connecticut state parks.

I guess I could just go with Sherwood Forest.
That's just as good...

right?

*gulp*
And there goes the last of Sherwood.
Great fuckin beer.

Let's see if my luck holds out, yeah?
Yeah!

Beer #2!

(Alc. 9.3%)
(Old Nation -Boss Tweed)

Smell - Stone fruit and pine. Very light on the nose, hard to smell.

Taste - Thick body of stone fruit and orange citrus fades into a peppery pine encore.

Overall, this is a really pleasant brew. Late warmth, but early bright notes give it a nice flavor profile to go with the mouthfeel of that thicker body. Dangerously quaffable!

-

So, um, Boss Tweed?
Yeah, I'm not even gonna try to find something hot or funny related to some corrupt politician from yesteryear.

Geart beer!
Disappointing name... lol

Well.
That was yummy.

Wouldn't it suck if my last beer of the night was some shitty swill?
I think so.
But I hope it's not!

I mean... it's my favorite label of the night!!!

C'mooooonnn...
Beer #three!

(Alc. 8.5%)
(Half Acre - Crocus)

Smellin- Half-candied stone fruit with thoughts of melon. Once, there was pine.

Tastin- Pine-driven stone fruit thought about grapefruit. Then later, warming the cockles...for just a moment.

Overallin, I hate to say it.. but it's the night's most basic beer. Now, don't get it twisted... the night started with two marvelous beers, that I should've rated 1/2 a star higher on Untappd. So, when I say this is the least, it doesn't mean anything negative. It's a solid outing for this profile. But if I had to suggest something from tonight... it'd be the first two. But you'd still be happy enough with this one.

ANY
FUCKIN
WAY

Moving along.
To the pic.

I thought I was gonna say fuck it.
But I found something.

See?

Give ya two guesses why I'm here.
First two don't count.

Yes!
Correct!
BEER!

Not much to mention except I'm back to my standard IPA > IPA > Stout set up.
So, with not much in mind, let's get started!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 8.2%)
(Singlecut - D.D.H. Full Stack)

Smell: Mango and zesty citrus up front, followed by wheat and distant pine.

Taste: Slight mango/peach and grapefruit pith are quickly joined by pine, which lingers as it turns into a dry finish.

Overall, this thick bodied IPA smelled more enticing than it tastes, but it's still a pleasant, well-made brew. It starts fruity, but only for a second before the dry profile makes its way forward.

-

So, it took me a minute to find a pic.
Which is weird.
I thought it would be WAY easier to find topless chicks on stage at a rock show!

Anyway, I finally did find one.
Not quite what I was going for, but it I dig it.

Whaddaya think?
Would you go to this show with me?

Done with that beer.
Time for the middle beer.

Beer #2:

(Alc. 7.1%)
(Levante - Tickle Parts)

Smell- Peach and mango run up, almost forgetting the tobacco way off in the distance. Slight dryness from faint pine.

Taste- Subdued nectarine, tempered by distant tobacco. Benign hops offer a handhold while searching for hiding pine.

Overall, this is a REALLY smooth brew. The flavor is thick, even if subdued and shunning the limelight. Great brew for lounging and listening to 70s vinyl.

-

I wasn't sure what to do for this pic.
So, I just went with tickle fetishism.

Seems fitting, no?
Methinks yes.

Anyway.
Fitting pic is fitting pic...

Alright boys and girls, it's time.
We've come to the last beer of the night.
(Not that it matters really, since I'm the only one here.)

So, umm...

Beer #3:

(Alc. 10.5%)
(Pipeworks - Donut Soup)

Smellserin - Dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla resting on a sweet malty bed.

Tastin - Well balanced vanilla, black coffee, and dark chocolate. Pleasant malty sweetness balances the act with the help of very distant (and almost non-existant) coconut.

Overallserinarangue - It's hard for me to call, as it's been a bit since I've had a stout and I'm just very happy to have a nice one for the first one in a bit. But it's really well balanced! (But still, it is "malty sweet", so it's not something to gulp.)

-

So yeah.
With donuts?
There's like, a million and 5 "donuts with tits" pics.

Not a problem to find one this time around.

I mean...
who doesn't pose naked with donuts?!?

Anyway...
here ya's go...
