So, hey, non-existent believers.
I started making a Red Bubble shop today.
Or rather, I signed up, updated some settings, and changed my profile pic.
But, I'm planning on making it a RL version of Bang Rumpus.
(Even though Bang Rumpus still isn't open in-world after several years, lol.)

I'll let y'all know when there's more to know.
In the meantime, it's time for beer!
-

Beer #1:

(Alc. 7.2%)
(Fat Orange Cat - All Cats Are Gray in The Dark)

Smell: Soft coffee, cocoa powder, and caramel with hints of white pepper. On a biscuit.

Taste: Cocoa powder, followed by a sustained note of vanilla. An undertone of sweet malt alongside the faint biscuit body.

Overall, I'm not sure what to do with this thing. It seems to get better as I get deeper in the glass, but the cocoa powder flavor always makes me think of old chocolate flavored scratch-n-sniff stickers, or the added flavors of DuClaw beers. There is a definite beer characteristic overlaid on top of the "Taste" description above, but I figure that's usually taken for granted, unless otherwise noted. So, it's not bad, not great.

(Not sure what pic to put with this, so I'm not gonna bother.)

Ok, so it looks like I'm going to end up having 3 beers tonight.
The last one is weird and I'm really looking forward to it.
That said, they're all weird tongiht! XD

For now, this thing is...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 10%)
(Founders - Mas Agave)

Smells - LIME and salt. Faint undercurrent of tequila.

Tastes - Creamy lime with salted tips and lime. Soft tequila undercurrent with lime.

Overalls, LIME! There is SO MUCH lime in this beast, I think I just fell in love. Although, give it a few more sips and the powerful gose style of this brew will probably ask for a break. It's more like key lime pie with a slight bitter backbite than a tequila aged lime gose... or beer. I'm a fiend for lime, so I'm impossibly biased on this one.

And it weren't too hard to find a pic for this brew.
(Although, I feel like I should add a pic to the first beer... maybe another day.)

anyway,
here ya go.

Ok, this should be my last beer of the night.
And I CAN'T WAIT to find out what this shit tastes like!
(It's going to be hard to beat the last one though... fuuuuckkk liiiiime... *drool*)

anywayz...

LET'S GET IT ON!

Beer #3:

(Alc. 8%)
(Omnipollo - Vanitas)

Smellin: Citrus and stone fruit step up, with shoes made of sweet pith. A thought of dry hops spread upon a biscuit body. Somewhat tropical and juicy overall.

Tastin: Nectarine and pineapple lead the way along a subdued wheat path. The biscuit body follows with a trace of dry pine echoing in the distance, doubling back on the outro.

Overallin, this is a pleasant brew that's not too sweet. Thick and juicy, the fruity flavors dominate. (Unfortunately, I'm not really detecting the pistachios or almonds that are supposed to be part of this profile. But it's possible they're helping to round out some edges.)

And, um, I found a fitting pic.
But, I uh...
I'm not sure I should've.

Enjoy?

Well, obviously I skipped last week.
But I'm back again, now.

I think there's only one new beer tonight.
But, I'm running late, so I'm just gonna get to it...

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6.1%)
(Departed Soles - Hoppy Little Trees)

Smell: Peach and orange, backed up by dry hops. Edges rounded by sweet notes (due to milk sugar).

Taste: Peach, nectarine pith, and a bit of orange citrus lead the way along a dry hopped path, with traces of sweet undergrowth.

Overall, it's a kinda juicy, kinda hoppy experience. The bitterness from the dry hops is most pronounced in the backend. Decent brew, but not entirely my thing. It's not disappointing or anything, I"m just not as excited as I'd hoped to be.

But hey, y'all get this pic!

Ok, so, this isn't a new beer, but it is a new... experience?

I'll put it this way... remember when I tried Yin, the stout and Yang, the IPA?
Well, I'm trying them as a "black & tan" now.
Except I didn't pour it right, so it's just a "mostly black".

(Alc. 10%)
(Evil Twin - Yin Yang)

The smells are confusing, so I'm heading to tastes.

Tastes: The chocolate stout notes are bold, but they've done a Cloak & Dagger with Yin... joining forces with the oat and subtle stone fruit notes of Yang.

Overall, this was obviously going to be a tasty concoction. I think I prefer the stout on it's own, but I prefer them together as a B&T over the straight IPA. But, that comes down to personal preference more than overall quality and depth.

I'm just happy to finally try this combo!

Oh hai there.
Life is crazy, so these reviews are taking a bit of a hit.
(Lots of remodeling going on at home, on top of a few other time consuming things.)

But I'm finally back after 3 weeks!
HUZZAH!
Time to DRINK!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6.5%)
(Jughandle - Background Radiation)

Smell: Nectarine and sweet pineapple pith lead the way. Hay notes bring up the rear on a biscuit body.

Taste: Stone fruit steps up with citrus pith following all along the way, leading to slight hay notes on a biscuity body. Easy bitter hops outro.

Overall, this is a fairly standard, well-made NEIPA. Juicy with bitter notes, easy to drink, tempered by dry hops.

(No idea what to use for a hottie pic on this one, sorry.)

I had a bunch of stuff written out here, but my comp fucked wit me and now I don't want to bother.

Beer #2:

(Alc. 9.1%)
(Departed Soles - Autohops)

Smells: Dank peaches and honey. Bready body with distant pine.

Tastes: Dank honey and subdued peach take the stage, while a peppery biscuit body lends support to a faint note of farmhouse hops.

Overalls, this reminds me of dark honey. There's some farmhouse sensibility, but not actual production. It's thickish and gutturally pleasant.

(Too aggravated by updating bullshit to search for a pic right now.)

Ok, I've done my Taylor Swift impression (I done shook it off) and ready for the last review of the night...

Beer #3:

(Alc. 10.1%)
(Cape May - Concrete Ship)

Smellin: Faint bourbon behind chocolate tinted black coffee. Sweet malt enveloping the experience.

Tastin: Black coffee, soaked in bourbon, steps forward with dark chocolate. Complimentary sweet malt rounds out the smokey oak bottom.

Overallin, it's another rather pleasant stout. It could be argued that there's hidden raisin notes in the distant underbelly, but it's really a standard chocolate/coffee stout... with added smoky bourbon notes. Pretty good shit.

(And really, not sure how a WW1 naval folly results in any kind of sexy pic here, so the night should conclude without any pics.)

(BUT.. I can't just let it go like that!)
(So, lemme find a decent pic of some kind, yeah? Like, related or not? Yeah?)
(yeah)

(so....)

Absolutely unrelated, but here ya go anyway!

Oi! Oi!
Hello mates!

It's been 2 weeks again, but honestly, I'm surprised it wasn't longer.
Doing a ton of crap these days and it's keeping me from foruming/drinking/gaming as much as I like.
But that's life I suppose.
(Plus, most of the crap is actually remodeling work in our home and is less crappy and more wonderful.)

ANYway...
let's get to drinkin!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 7%)
(Edmund's Oast - Bound By Time)

Smell: Dank-ish, piney hops with a backdraft of hay on a biscuit, with a faint edging of white pepper.

Taste: Slightly sweet pine carries over dry hops and faint hay. Served on a thick cracker edged with white pepper.

Overall, this is a smooth, dry IPA. The sweetness is muted, as is the bitterness... yet it all manages to have a bold profile, partially due to the peppery heat on the back end. It seems refined... but that might just be the subconscious influence of the label art. Good shit.

Hmm...
I wonder what pic I might be able to come up with for this brew...

*time passes*

Well, I expected a lot more options...
But still, I ended up with this...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 7.2%)
(Singlecut - Does Anybody Remember Laughter?)

Smells: Honeyed melon and dank hay on a cracker?

Tastes: Spiced farmhouse sensibility with a honeyed pine background, resting on a bit of a biscuity body. Ending with a chest-warm afterthought.

Overall, the body has a fairly creamy thickness. It would go better with a sunset than a sunrise, if that helps. Somewhat earthy, it's agreeable temper brings me back sip after sip.

And again, I thought I'd have an easy time finding a pic.
But, alas... it was not so.

But I DID find this:

And then there was the last beer of the night.

Beer #3:

(Alc. 7.5%)
(Fat Orange Cat - She Drives a Plymouth Satellite)

Smellins: Sweet stone fruit holds hands with pine. A touch of grapefruit rides on the cracker body. Wheat bows on the outro.

Tastins: Dank stone fruit and pine lead the way. A biscuit body carries a bit of grapefruit pith, with a wheaty outro.

Overallins, this has that Five Alive vibe I've talked about before. Both earthy and bitter-juicy. Not my favorite style, but well done for what it is.

And no good pics were found.

Hello again, nobody!
How are y'none doing?
I hope all is well.

I know I've been away for a month, but as I've said before... the past several months have been crazy.
Between home redesigning and summer activities, it's been just a bit busy.

As you've no doubt guessed by now, I haz beers for tonight!
(With a loose "descent into madness" theme.)

So, shall we get going then?
Yes?
OKAY!
Please keep your hands and arms inside the thread at all times... and we're off!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 8%)
(Prairie Artisan Ales - Phantasmagoria)

Smell: Apricot and somewhat pithy grapefruit on a biscuit, with a little pepper heat on the sides.

Taste: Apricot with a touch of grapefruit pith and, further back, a hint of pine. The creamy body feels biscuit-y. Somewhere in the distance, pepper notes.

Overall, this is surprisingly more smooth than I expected. Instead of being bitter or strongly pithy on the front end, it's much calmer. Very drinkable. Kinda dangerously so for something clocking in at 8%.
Good shit.

.
.
.

And yes, I found a pic.
But...

umm...

It's gonna be a weird night:

So, ok, this next beer is...
well, the label is...

just...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 7.2%)
(Abomination Brewing - Only Hell Can Save Us Now)

Smells: Passion fruit and guava introduce slightly bitter hops, with vanilla-sweet lactose playing just behind them. (Not sure if more cracker or biscuit for the body.)

Tastes: Raspberry and guava step gently forward, bringing passion fruit with them. Hushed vanilla hides hefty hops. It tries to get bitter on the outro, but remains calm, even if twangy.

Overalls, this is a pretty tasty brew! I know it's described with slight flavors, but they combine to create a fully fleshed out profile. It's mostly opaque with some sediment in my glass. Another brew that's exceedingly easy to drink!

.
.
.

I guess it's not weird that Hell makes for good pics, hey?

I told you it'd be a weird night...

Damn it.
It's impossible to do almost anything other than reviews while drinking m'beers!

By the time I'm done typing out the review here, re-posting it on Hip Forums, then rating it and posting it on Untappd... it's time for the next beer!

That being said, here's the big boy of the night...

Beer #3:

(Alc. 10.5%)
(Edmund's Oast - Azathoth)

Smellth: Standard black coffee, dark chocolate, molasses. Light bread/heavy biscuit body. Sweet malt comes in at a good clip.

Tasth: Black coffee with hints of dark chocolate. Tinny molasses on a bready biscuit. Sweet, smoky malt builds throughout.

Overalth, this is a fairly standard stout. It's a bit on the smoky side and pretty tasty. Not my favorite, but there's nothing wrong. A good showing.

.
.
.

And for the pic?
HELL if I know, but let's see what I find!

*some time passes*

Huh... weird.
I didn't find anything.

HA!

Wait... it's really been about a month since my last set of reviews?!?
Hot damn, time flies!

So, I only have 2 beers tonight.
Since I aim for around 25% alcohol for the night and they both have a high ABV.

Anyway, I'mma get started.

Beer #1:

(Alc. 10.2%)
(Proclamation Ale + Barreled Souls Brewing - Dr. Presley)

Smell: Subtle bitter chocolate and coriander up first with a vanilla and cherry backstep. Every now and then, it smells kinda like Dr Pepper. All on a subdued biscuit body.

Taste: Cherry chocolate blends with coriander. Sustained soft vanilla throughout. With anise rounding out the edges with a touch of cinnamon.

Overall, this brew actually does remind me of Dr. Pepper. It's not exactly the same, but it is reminiscent of it. A somewhat complex palate, the anise comes through stronger as you go on.

.
.
.

Found a pic.
It's not nude.
But still... oh myyy.

And all of a sudden, it was time for the last beer.
Because there's only two.
Like I mentioned earlier.
(Nobody is reading this.)

Beer #2:

(Alc. 14%)
(Brewdog - Radio Zombie Phone In)

Smells - Malted dark chocolate with coffee notes along for the ride. A bit of a boozy caramel along the sides.

Tastes - Coffee with malted dark chocolate up front. A wisp of caramel then leads to a suggestion of warm, oaky hops.

Overalls - A nice pleasant stout with a warm ending. A bit of a boozy bite in the second half, but not bad. As with most high ABV stouts, it's a sipping drink. It's the better of the two for the night, even if not in my overall top stouts.

.
.
.

So...
You, um, know how the name of this beer is a zombie thing.
Right?
Yeah?

k...
so, just giving you a sec to, um, be ready.

For...

Hey all!
Apparently showing up once a month or two is my new thing.
I'm not proud of that, nor do I wish to continue it as being my thing.
Hopefully I'll get back to getting drunk more often!

For now, it's time for another beer night (obviously).
So, let's get to it!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 11.8%)
(Cameron's Brewing Co - Early Bird Breakfast Barley Wine)

Smell - Funky caramel and hay up front. Dark cherry notes layered within the biscuity body.

Taste - Slightly funky hay hides a thread of white chocolate. Soft caramel notes lead through boozy heat and far off dark cherry notes. All served on a biscuit.

Overall, my description is more nuanced than a casual sip may reveal, which would probably come across more like "decent farmhouse style brew, with boozy heat". Of course, my ability to give good reviews may be hampered after so much time away from it!

And don't worry.
I wouldn't forget the naughty highlight of these reviews!

I know it's not much by way of barleywine.
But, this pic is based on the early bird breakfast part.
So there.

Right on time... one hour later, it's time for...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 12%)
(Prairie Artisan Ales - Pirate Noir)

Smellin: Coffee and rum come at it with equal strength, leaving little room for the licorice hued biscuit body, resting on a sweet malt soul.

Tastin: Island coffee(?) and smoky rum, warmly present on a biscuit body... lofted by a sweet malty soul. Unique flavor.

Overallin, I'm enjoying the peculiar brew I have in me glass! The smoky qualities could be unpleasantly overpowering, if I drank it quickly... so don't do that. Otherwise, it's a rather pleasant sipping beer.

Well, ho lee Shit, it took forever to find something for this one!
I thought it's be easy.
I mean, why shouldn't anything to do with pirates be easy to find?

Well, apparently "noir" isn't a big thing amongst nudie pirate pics.

So, this is what you get.
Enjoy!

Hey there, netizens... how's things?
Too sober?
Well, I got a few beers to take care o' that!

Finally gonna get some pumpkin brews into the mix, too!
So, what am I waiting for?
Let's get it on!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6.7%)
(Elysian - Night Owl) (2019)

Smell: Spiced pumpkin pie with a dollop of whipped cream with a graham cracker crust.

Taste: Wheat up front introduces subtle, spiced pumpkin pie flavors. All resting on a cracker body. Distant bitter hops on the backend.

Overall, it's a decent outing for Night Owl this year. Not as bold in pumpkin flavor as I'd prefer, but that also means it doesn't get overwhelming. Not bad.

.
.
.

And you're obligatory hottie pic...

Ok, it's been an hour, so you know what that means...

Beer #2!

(Alc. 10%)
(Flying Monkeys - Paranormal)

Smells: Dark pumpkin pie with a browned crust.

Tastes: There is a "dark pumpkin pie with a browned crust" profile here, but... I don't know. Something is... different.

Overalls, this smelled amazing. But, once I tasted it... I don't know if it's because it's an Imperial after drinking a lesser ABV brew or something else, but it tastes... off. I'd want to try it again before making a final judgment.
Anyway.
It has a good amount of alcohol and I'm drinkingn it and it's working well. :P

Moving on...

Time for the pic.
Maybe not nudie, but it's a good'un.

Here...

Wow, it's only been 20 minutes!
And now we're on to the last(?) beer of the night...

Beer #3:

(Alc. 11%)
(Lough Gill - Dark Sunset)

Smellin - Chocolate, vanilla, and espresso. Buoyed by smoked wood.

Tastin - Vanilla beans guide coffee grounds through smoky chocolate.

Overallin - Pleasant and welcoming, even if the effervescence is on a smaller scale than the implored lounging calls for. But, ignoring the yearn for a bready body instead of closer to cracker, this is a brew you can readily settle in to.

Oh.. whu?
Did you say "don't leave without that hottie pic, fucker"?

k... I can accommodate.
One sec...

K, here we go.

Well, fuck me silly and call me Sally.. it's been a whole damn month!
I thought it'd only been, like, 2 weeks!
Hot shit!

K... now that that's outta the way.
Time for drinkin!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6%)
(Proclamation Ale Co. - Derivative: Mystery)

Smell: Bright stone fruit and citrus. Gentle pepper notes. Distant and soft hint of pine.

Taste: Pleasant and neighborly stone fruit/citrus (peach/orange mostly). Soft, distant pepper and pine. Dry, especially on the far side.

Overall, this is a very easy to drink and pleasing brew. It would be perfect as a summer beer... at ANY time of day. Just wonderful.

(Worth noting: On the can, it says they threw in a bunch of hops they've never used before, then yelled at the beer to "GET IN THE CAN AND BE AWESOME!!!")

And for the hottie pic?
Just make sure you check out the beer can first.
Look carefully and you'll notice how it's related.

K.
Fun, easy times have come and gone.
Time to dig in a bit further now.

Beer #2:

(Alc. 10.5%)
(Pipeworks - Got Ya Covered)

Smellin: Bready dark chocolate with a hint of salty pretzel skin. Distant hint of vanilla.

Tastin: Dark chocolate on top of a sustained, salty, pretzel note. Trading prominence as they reach the back end. Vanilla influence avoids certain detection.

Overallin, it's an interesting brew. Upon taking my first sip, I said out loud, "Well, that's different." It's thick and fairly sweet, as stouts are wont to be. Not bad, but probably not something to get a whole six/four pack or anything.

Oh...
Did you want a pic for this one, too?
Even though chocolate covered pretzels + sexy people doesn't equal plentiful pictures?

K...
here...
have this...

It's been over an hour... must be time for...

Beer #3!

(Alc. 9%)
(Common Roots - Coffee Cup)

Smells: Slow roasted and subdued.

Tastes: Subdued coffee stout. Unassuming, but steady.

Overalls, this seems pretty benign. A decent, steady, understated coffee stout.

and...
um...

For that related pic?
It's not that individualistic of a drink, but I'll try.

And here's what I got...

Howdy there.
It's gonna be a short one tonight.

I had a drink already, but not one to review.
And now I'm ready for beer #1, even if it's drink number two.

(I'm excited for this one...)

TONIGHT'S BEER:

(Alc. 17.2%)
(Evil Twin - Big Ass Money Stout)

Smell: Slightly sweet roasted malt and mocha espresso

Taste: Sweet, roasted malt on top of subdued mocha espresso.

Overall, I expected this to be smoother, but I'm also pretty sure that I kept it too cold... so, my take is skewed by ill preparedness. With that in mind, it's coming across as too sweet and a bit boozy on the tail end. But again, I suspect that it wouldn't be as exaggerated if I'd just kept it slightly cool instead.

*time passes*

Turns out I was right.
After getting closer to room temperature, this stout has gotten much smoother.
The sweetness has come way down and the boozy heat has lessened to no longer be much of a negative.

So, I ended up giving it 4/5 on Untappd and suggest that if you do get this, serve it slightly chilled... but not cold.

...

And once again,
adhering to custom,
doth I so produce,
yon visage of hotness.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
And welcome to the first review(s) of 2020!!

I'm starting the year off with a set of beers I selected for their amusing labels.
We'll see if the beer was worth it, but I have a good feeling about the night.

So let's get started, yes?
(YES!)

Beer #1:

(Alc. 5.5%)
(D9 Brewing - Whiskers)

Smell: Sour orange with a hint of wet hay just behind it.

Taste: Strong tartness, lightly orange. A thought of wet hay rests in the distance.

Overall, it's definitely a sour brew! Or rather, tart... very tart. Almost as if tartness was the flavor, instead of the style. The orange is like very watered down orange juice, which actually may work to make this a more light-hearted brew. Not bad.

.
.
.

And a picture for this?
Hmm...
ok...

one sec.

Ok, here's the best I found for this one:

Alrighty... time to move on to something easier to drink.
(That last one was pretty damn sour/tart.)

Anywayz...

Beer #2:

(Al. 8%)
(Three 3's - Super Flirp)

Smell: Candied citrus and stone fruit. Dry hay soul. Very distant pine.

Taste: Grapefruit and nectarine up front. Hay soul in-between. Dry pine on the back end.

Overall, this is a rather pleasant IPA with a classic flavor profile applied in good measure. Nothing is too sweet, bitter, or anything. Just done really well. Solid brew.

...

As for the pic that usually goes down here...
Fuck it, I'm not even gonna try with this one.

And then there was 1.
(Or should I say 3?)

pfft

I should say, let me drink my fuckin beer.

Beer #3:

(Alc. 12.4%)
(Abomination - Midnight Snack)

Smells: Smooth mocha coffee grounds and cacao nibs, lofted by sweet oaty malt.

Tastes: Agreeable espresso with thoughts of vanilla, lilting on a river of sweet oaty malt.

Overalls, this mostly follows standard milk stout tropes. But, it does them very well and produces a pleasantly smooth imbibement without the strong boozy element some lesser brews have exhibited.

.
.
.

In other news, I easily found something to post with this.

And so...
y'alls related pic is:

Here we are.
Together again.
aww...

Ok, TIME FOR BEER!!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 7.5%)
(Beach Haus - Interstellar Blues)

Smell: Standard full bodied, smooth IPA... with lactose.

Taste: Dry faint pine bitterness with a distant tart bite, accompanied by a faint wisp of vanilla and lactose.

Overall, I'm disappointed. It's not a bad beer, I just don't really taste any blueberry notes in it. Mostly it's just a nice (even if dry and unimposing) beer.

And um...
that pic that usually goes down here?
Yeah... turns out searching for "blueberry tits" brings back a whole inflation fetishdom.

Like, it's hard to find anything that ISN'T inflation porn.
So... I'm just gonna skip it for this beer.

I'm hopeful for a better experience with this brew.
So, trepidatiously, I'mma move on to...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 7.3%)
(Fat Orange Cat - Sweet Jane Strawberry)

Smells: Soft pine and strawberries up front. Vanilla fades in to a soft crescendo of a dry finish.

Tastes: Laid back pine introduces subdued strawberry. Both easing into a full, smooth finish.

Overalls, this is a very pleasant brew. Probably one of my favorites from Fat Orange Cat thus far. Even though not mentioned specifically, the milkshake angle is definitely present. Makes me want to try the other Sweet Jane flavors!

And I know I said I was going to add a hottie pic here, but I changed my mind.
I can't help but include something way cooler...

And then there was one.
Or, um, third.
I don't know you get the point leave me alone

Beer #3!

(Alc. 10%)
(Flying Monkeys - The Chocolate Manifesto)

Smellerin- Woah... that's chocolate. I mean, that's just a lot of chocolate. Layers of delicious chocolate.

Tasterin- It's a chocolate stout. Not a coffee/chocolate stout. Just fuckloads of chocolate. ...with a warm stouty back end.

Overallerin- Fuck yes. Chocolate for miles. Drink this shit.

And you've been so understanding and patient.
So, with that in mind...
I imagine I owe y'all.

I owe y'all a hottie.

So, here ya go...
The Chocolate Manifesto hottie:

So, hey there everyone.
Tonight looks like it should be a pretty big night for me.
If all goes according to plan, Bang Rumpus will actually be open for actual business by the time I log off tonight!!!

But, as I'm wont to do, I'll also be drinkin some beers.
With all that said, I'mma get to it!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6.5%)
(Jughandle - Background Radiation)

Smell: Vanilla, pine, grapefruit and stone fruit?

Taste: Subdued stone fruit intro, with soft pine backing strengthening throughout. Slight grapefruit foundation.

Overall, not a bad brew. It's thicker in body than I expect of a NEIPA, but about normal in taste. It's largely a standard NEIPA brew, but has a distant quirky personality trait that I can't quite hammer down.

.
.
.

Aaaand...
as always...

(and with a fun smirk)

Too early to get started on the Bang Rumpus opening (where "too early" = "too sober"), so it's just time for...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 8.5%)
(Cape May + Left Hand - Ties The Room Together)

Smells: Roasted malt and faint vanilla introduce fleeting thoughts of chocolate. A half-hiding coffee note is sustained all along.

Tastes: Creamy vanilla coffee on a half-hidden bed of chocolate.

Overalls, this is a pretty pleasant brew! It's smooth and easy to drink... like how a white chocolate mocha latte is smooth and easy. Slightly boozy at times, but nothing to worry about.

...

And, um...
So you know how I usually put some kind of hottie down here in the related pic?
Well, it's not.. um.. quite the same this time.

It's related and all.
It's just not some scantily clad hot thing.

But it's still awesome.

I mean...

Ok.
Last beer of the night.
(I think)

Beer #3:

(Alc. 12%)
(Evil Twin - Even More JCS)

Smellins: Vanilla bean and black coffee in a blanket of sweet malt.

Tastins: Black coffee lowlighted with smoky vanilla, within a blanket of sweet malt on a bed of biscuits.

Overallins, this is as tasty as I expected. Although it's overly sweet on this outing, it still has an Evil Twin soul. Not my favorite from them, but that doesn't mean it's bad. (But as is the case with most higher ABV brews, don't gulp... this is for sipping!)

-

Now, I know I should include a pic to go along with this beer....
but...

I don't know.
What do I pair with this?

hmm

maybe this is good?

boop

I'm back for another round!

You know the drill.
So, here we go!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6.8%)
(Red Tank - Hazy Cosmic Jive)

Smell: Nectarine with a touch of pine on a biscuity body.

Taste: Somewhat peppery stone fruit (mostly nectarine) with slightly funky pine and grapefruit underpinnings.

Overall, it's an interesting brew. Almost straightforward IPA profile, but that funky pine is funky. Not in a bad way, just... different.

ALL HAIL BOWIE!!!

Oh...

also...

(as is the norm)

this hottie...

I'm done wit dat beah.

Now onto
Beer #2:

(Alc. 7.3%)
(Omnipollo - Henosis)

Smells: Stone fruit and slight sugared melon.

Tastes: Dank, slightly funky peach and stark grapefruit lead into dry, but easy-handed, pine.

Overalls, this is a nice beer. A bit deep on the dankness, but largely decent. Either way, it goes down fairly smooth. Not my fave, but I wouldn't chase it away. Pretty good for what it is though.

hey
hey
hey

pic time!

And...
here we go!

Ok.
Time for the last review.
And as I'm wont to do, it's a stout.

I'm hoping it's gonna be freakin awesome.

Let's find out!

Beer #3:

(Alc. 11%)
(Lough Gill - Dark Sunset)

Smellerin: Coffee grounds, and oak, present cocoa nibs and vanilla bean.

Tastification: Coffee grounds travel over vanilla beans to meet cocoa nibs. Sweet malt outlines the woodsy background.

Oh. Vuhralls: Pretty standard stout profile, but handled with a decent deftness. I prefer very little sweetness in a stout, so I'm tempering my valuation with that in mind. Which means it follows the standard "don't gulp" rule for stouts. But it's tasty, even though it breaks down to a generic sounding smoky-sweet profile after the initial heft.

---

What could I possibly come up with for "Dark Sunset"?
Do you think you can guess?
I don't think I could, if I didn't already knew.

But...

Speaking of not knowing, how about we change that?
Let's take a gander, shall we?

Another 2 week break under my belt.
And another set of beer reviews to start.

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6.75%)
(Evil Twin - New York Is A Great Place To Visit, But I Would Never Want To Live There)

Smell - Softly sweet citrus rises up in front of a ghost of dry pine.

Taste - Smooth, subdued, sweet citrus takes the lead. While dry pine evens the balance far behind the scenes.

Overall, this is an incredibly gentle brew. The flavor isn't missing, but it never gets in your face. Just a pleasant, easy-going drink that would be great for social gatherings where you don't have to stick to session beers.

And, umm...
as for the pic?

It's not just a hottie this time.

It's more... well..
I tried to make it fitting, as I'm wont to do.

So, yeah...
here ya go...

Ok, that beer is done.
Now on to...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 7.8%)
(Toppling Goliath - King Sue)

Smellin - Mango steps up before sweet grapefruit gives way to orange pith, with hoppy hops along for the ride in the backseat.

Tastin - Grapefruit thinks about pineapple while holding hands with mango and orange pith, as pine-dry hops walk forward towards the back end.

Overallin, this is fairly tasty, if you like dry brews. It's not bad, but it's not my fave as it kinda sports the "bruised stone-fruit" profile that I find common to these brews. I wouldn't refuse it, but I wouldn't seek it out either.

And, um...

hehe
I, uh, got something.

...

*giggle*

K, here ya go...
