Sounds like somebody had a wonderful Christmas! Well, I have an iPhone, but I think the iTouch will run most of the same applications. I am very used to having constant access to the Internet, either through 3G or WiFi at home. So a lot of my favorite application assume you have internet access. And of course, most of my favorites are music related - from virtual instruments to streaming audio sources. I don't have very many games, but I do have over 200 application installed. Can you tell me what you are into?

Here are some of my favorites:

Streaming media: Rhapsody, Last FM, Slacker Radio, Pandora, NPR News and TED
News: CNN, Time Mobile, NY Times BBC Reader and TUAW (The Unoffical Apple Weblog)
Social Networking: Facebook, Flickr, Twitterific and Plurk
Games: Peggle, Finger Physics, GD Swarm
Utilities: Photogene, Bing
Instruments: Finger Piano, NLogFree, Jasuto, and Euphonics.

Let me know what your specific interests are and I might be able to point you at some good choices.

I have nothing to contribute to this discussion.

Let them eat cakes.

BOX is a great App to share your computer files with yourself. I leave my desktop PC on and access all of my movies and music and word docs along with Excel files. If you hook up a TV Turner to your PC and have cable - you can watch cable TV on your iPhone when you are out and about.

Install Chorus - this is a great free APP that has users review all the new and popular Apps. Great stuff here.

Wunderradio is great to listen to your Second Life Friend's DJ streams.

Get the free flashlight App. Seems stupid but it really comes in handy.

i.TV all of your television listings as you like to see them - and reminder notices.

If you have Googlewave get the iPhone App

Sparkle to get into Second Life on your phone (But Touch Life is cheaper and better).

Don't get sparkle. It's junk and they want five bucks for it. Www.ajaxlife.net via safari costs nothing and does a better job. I use it all the time.

Danke.. I'll look those up.

I'm mostly looking at news apps, mobile video , things useful for city living, and ways to check my social networks on the go. Maybe a few fun games...

Oh, and a good e-book reader.

Less maps and such, since I rely on wifi networks and nothing that use the microphone.

Ajax Life is great while it works, but it seems to fail login quite often.

I've been relying on it for a bit now and haven't had any issues. It's got an iPhone specific ui I haven't had a problem with. Sparkle was a crashasaurus for me--ymmv.

Of course it's the word 'free' that got me hooked

I use any reader that sync with my gmail account. Just open a free reader account in gmail and add your favorite blogs and feeds. There is Mobile RSS - which is a free reader. Open your iTunes store and search for 'google' to see all of your options.

I was getting pissed off at Shazam because the updates made it not really work. They have a Shazam Pro now but it's a bit pricey for a app no one really needs anyway.

Talking about Apps no one needs: I love 'Message in a Bottle'. Beautiful Beach scene where you throw bottles out and grab random bottles from all over the world with messages in them. I guess they needed to better support their servers so you have to actually buy supplies of bottles even after you buy the app and your free supply runs out
I contacted them and let them knwo I was willing to pay when some more interactive add-ons were added for premiums.
