I am a noob in the ways of animating gifs for web browser consumption.

I want to do something for my website, which I'm in the midst of building, where you touch a button on a diamond-shaped tile at the middle of the page and it spins along a vertical axis.

Is there an online tutorial that y'all would recommend for this? Keep in mind that my learning curve, as an old fart, is already steep.

Thanks muchly.

in world??
assuming not, you could use a javascript mouseover snippet (millions on google). you would need the static image as well as the animated one, the script would swap them depending if the mouse was over them or not.
the hard part is the spinning graphic. if youre lucky there is some sort of online gif generator that can do this for you.

Here's the rough draft- needs tweakage, of course...

Thanks, guys.

I used my half-arsed adobe program that came with my tablet to make the frames, and the online gif generator to put it together... I just wanted to check the mechanics of it before I did a fully dressed one, with no bumps, dirt, or jiggles. Hope to get after it tomorrow after the building inspector comes by to look at my stakes, and I get the first coat done in the big bedroom... and maybe some time on the walkway... Too many projects in too many directions.

here's the final of the gif, I'm still working on the rest. When I have a finished site, I'll post it.

at 3mb+ in size i am sure that gif can be made leaner. you should run it through some sort of optimisation program.
something like ulead gif animator would likely work wonders on your gif.

thanks.

Am also likely to make it smaller in size, just for the sake of the page view, but I very much appreciate the tech advice- much needed.

hey thats pretty sexy. i dig it.
yes, propagation is a drag. if its holding you back from working on the site, you can specify your domains ip in windows' hosts file.

dry run... still much tweakage to do, including that gif optimisation you mentioned, p., but at least there's a start.

I'm a toddler at this, so please bear w/ my amateurish efforts...
