Red face Mesh Texturing... what a pain for me

So I can make my mesh no problem there and I do know the basics of creating UV Maps for an object.

ugh is all I can say

I have this really nice mesh shoe I made and the shape is more complex for me to make an easy to texture UV Map.
I have reread the info out there on this and tested different forms to get a base on it.
I just dont know what anyone would suggest for a shoe to start with.
I am currently trying a few versions out and then splitting and moving shells about.
I get so close to a nice one but now I cannot view the bottom sole of the shoe for the map.

What would you suggest if anything for a shoe?
thanks

ok in my lonely thread...

I got it to work with just a base texture!
wow
I am shocked and now to make a nice texture for it put some of the laces on.
I just do not know if I should keep the lace separate or combine?

Hey Morgaine, from the pic it actually looks really good. Are you using blender? I don't know if you have tried any of the projection views for UV mapping, I sometimes find that can work surprisingly well for something with a bit more shape. Other than that cutting the seams in the right place has a huge impact too.

I find texturing mesh to be a pain too, prims are so much easier. This is is a link to a guy I found really useful if you haven't seen these it's worth a look. Good luck

4 users laughed. The question is: Are they laughing with you, or at you?:
