Default Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

I not only want to see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in 3-D, I already want to see it several times.

This user agrees. But then, who wouldn't, right?

It looks fuck-awesome!

I still enjoy the first one whenever it comes on.
I'm totally digging on the prequel series that these are!

Unfortunately, I probably won't see it until after it's on Blu-Ray or OnDemand or Netflix... whatever, until I can watch it at home.
Having a kid tends to put a damper on making it to the movies.
(For instance, I missed Godzilla! YARG!)

Anyway, yes... looks like an awesome movie.

Me too ! I watch the first one whenever it comes on, too! Having kids this age means we can go to the movies whenever we want to, and they can come along if they want!

I've scanned the reviews on rotten tomatoes, just scanned, cause I want things to be as much of a surprise as possible. The reviews are very good, with some critics saying things like best sci-fi movie ever, will go down in history as a great movie, etc.

Course, I don't pay that much attention to reviews, as they don't necessarily mean I will personally like it all that much. But this one, I know I will!

We saw the four seasons movie this week, "Jersey Boys," which my daughter wanted to go with us to see, which is why we went. I knew from scanning the reviews not to expect too much, but the regular people review percentage was better. So my expectations weren't huge, but I enjoyed the movie.

Old Clint is getting a tad too self-indulgent in his old age. This movie could have used some tightening. But still, enjoyable.

But Apes! I can't wait!

You'll have to give us a (non-spoiler, vague) review once you've seen it!

I can at least view it vicariously through you.

Yay!

Oh... and maybe any other movies you get to see?

We do plan on getting a babysitter for us to go see Guardians Of The Galaxy when it comes out.
Not only does it look highly amusing, but Vin Diesel is in it and we just can't so no to "The Riddick"!
(NOBODY says no to Riddick! )

Yes of course I want to see it. I've seen them all, why not the latest and greatest.

I know you got to see Godzilla, Io! We missed that one.

Kick, if it's any consolation, we only got babysitters twice during the whole time our girls were growing up; both times for evening events we had to go to.

(Well, and I had neighborhood babysitters sometimes during the day while I worked at home.)

My mother could only care for them one at a time, so every week she would have one or the other overnight.

Yeah... not that it's all so horrible.

I mean, sure, we missed movies... but we did so to be with our babies!
Yes, I would have loved to see Godzilla at the movies, but... my kid easily takes precedence and is just so FREAKING AWESOME!

Ok, you asked for a review. We came home from camping to see this, then went back to camping. We had to do that, because we had to put the dog in the back yard. I wanted to wait a bit before posting a review for people to get a chance to see it before being possibly bummed out by my opinion.

Because I was rather disappointed by it. I liked the first one better. It was more intellectual, less war. And less sappy. One of those situations where the critics are more rapturous than I turn out to be.

Plus, the 3-D in it seemed more pointless than in other 3-D movies I've seen. Not so much a subtle plus, as, pointless. In other words, not worth coming home in order to see it. On the other hand, if I hadn't done that, I would have thought I missed something by missing the 3-D aspect.

However, this won't stop me from seeing a third prequel, and in 3-D, which I'm pretty sure they will make.

I'm not surprised there's more war and less intellectual.
It's a natural evolution of the story.
Simians taking over a world run by humans would necessarily end up going through an extended period of violence and chaos.

As for 3D, my biggest appreciation is for getting a sense of depth going away from me... instead of something sticking out at my face.
(Although both can be used to make some sweet effects.)

Goddammit, I still haven't been able to see this yet and don't want to miss it in the theaters. :/

Yeah, just a little too much war for me, it stops holding my interest after a while.

Hope you get to see it, Io!
