Default We Haz House Painting!!!

Look! Our house is being painted!

Ugly icky old yellowish blech...

New improved gray tone - still in progress. Sort of a cocoa/gray. We're also going to stick with the brown trim - but use a deeper more espresso color. There's also a plumish color going on the garage door, and the side door of the house. This color scheme is more in keeping with the style of home - earthy. Yellow was totally wrong for it.

Lattice added to part of porch for privacy on side of street:

And, lattice added to back stairs to prevent crap from accumulating underneath. They were built sort of as temporary stairs but who can afford to improve it now? Once stained later this week, I think it will look incredibly better.

Check it out! My Honda 250cc Rebel motorcycle never gets ridden (I ride Trout's bike to school now) and so it's just sad and unused in our garage now. I was browsing through the Barter list on Craigslist, and some guy was offering to paint a house in exchange for a motorcycle. I called him and we've got a deal! He's got lots of spare dove-gray paint in his shop, so I chose that one. He's licensed and bonded so I've got assurance that he's good.

Here's our house when we first bought it, back in January 2010:

From the SW back corner:

He's coming tomorrow to do the base coat. Pics coming soon!

It's awesome that you're riding! Your bike will be glad to be ridden. They don't do well sitting for long periods. Glad you're getting your house painted!

Yep. Gracie (my bike) has lots of pep, but she's just not comfortable enough to ride 56 miles round trip every day. George (Trout's bike) is much bigger and still gets like 45 miles/gallon, so he's my daily commuter.

Someday we'll get a Gracie II. Hopefully something like this:

But more probably something like this:

Yay congrats on the house, I know how exciting renovating is, I spent 5 years renovating my 1950's bungalow then sold it a few weeks ago, we are moving to the country yay!

The new paint looks great Elora, I love earth tones

Your house is really lovely. If Elle recreated it in SL, I would buy it.
