Default Incursion!

The final part of the Incursion expansion has been released, featuring the Sansha incursions - which, I might add, may get me interested in PvE again to some extent, although I promise I won't ever fully give up my ninja nogoodnik ways - and, of course, the new Character editor. Us oldbies have a few weeks, evidently, to create a new-style character whereas noobs of course will be required to make one immediately when they register.

I can't wait to get home and redesign myself. Not only are the faces much more realistic (I didn't mind the original cartoonish avatars...but what was with those neck tendons anyway? Yikes); but it seems to me from what I've seen so far they've now got access to "normal" clothes rather than dorky 70's-futurist-style Star Wars costumes. Space ruffians do not fight in repurposed bathrobes adorned with used auto parts.

BTW, from the way I hear it - best to experiment on the test server a bit before messing with your actual live character; it's easy to screw up and get yourself stuck with suck if you don't "get" the character editor interface. Just sayin'.

The patch was deployed today! You can log in and play with the character editor this very minute. You will have to download the patch/client first, though. And in the character editor, don't touch ANYTHING marked "save" until you're sure it's the image you want. Because it won't give you an "are you sure?" box to click.

What I do with this character editor is a crime. So far I've created a hispanic man with downs syndrome, and a cartoonish adult Screech.

You should check out the EVE forums. Some people are having a blast with it:

And finally, Freddie Mercury:

I am, however, getting reeeeeallly annoyed at all the Picard/Spock/Star Trek/Wars wannabes. It makes me want to blow up their ships.

Today they are live! The actual incursions!

The new Sansha rats are tough, too. They neut you and RR each other. And they cannot be solo'd - not by carebears in mission ships; and while CCP had given warnings in its devblog about that very fact, lots of bears didn't pay attention and have lost some very expensive stuff. Nomnomnom...

And the new smartrats aren't just in incursion 'sites'. They're also camping gates and patrolling asteroid belts...in high-security systems, f'ing with trading, mining, and mission-running. The tears have never been more epic.

We've run them on test already. Modified mission ships with omni tanks and logi support are required. The lower the sig the better. And here I am training into hacs tonight

(BS apparently get brutalized)

That seems to be the case most of the time; HOWEVER I'm hearing that one Scorpion with a load of Amarr jammers (and a decent ECM pilot) can permajam an entire low-level site, and cut down on the rat DPS in bigger sites enough to the point that RR isn't even necessary. Thus equipped, you might be able to bring in some heavies to help take them down quicker.

You guys would be in a better position to try and confirm this than I; so try it if you want.

RR'ing, especially spider-tanking, is risky here in hi-sec, because GCC rules still apply if you're repping someone who (accidentally or intentionally) gets flagged. The results are glorious:

We're working on ways to exploit this for maximum ninja-party potential. ^^

Yeah I heard about that, some idiot smartbombed or something and caused his entire fleet to get concorded.

All of our guys are running fits to avoid just that kind of thing.

We've done the math on the low level sites, the Isk/hour generated doesn't even come up to half of basic belt ratting in 0.0. Pretty much the 20 mans or higher.

For fun content for empire mission runners it may be worth it, but ultimately our end game combat out in 0.0 is eachother. Ratting is just a way for us to fly completely non fleet doctrine ships to drive our FC's mad.

The big money in these things is the LP and maybe that supercarrier BPC. From my understanding the salvage is standard sansha fair and not even the faction level loot.

With that in mind if you were doing a pure money grind it probably wouldn't even be worth swooping the wrecks.

(you are blue to us as well)

I joined a small mostly-bear gang in my logi running some Incursion sites last night. Got some isk and LP; nothing spectacular but more than enough for the 'work' I put in. Of course every site had some abandoned t2 wrecks in it, of which I was able to nom several. Nomnomnom.

It was enjoyable, anyway. I've got to swing up to Yulai and find out what's in their LP store; CONCORD capital mods is the rumor, and those might turn a profit.

I'd shoot for a tengu, I went Ishtar because I purchased a high drone skill alt to make a carrier pilot, and Ishtar as PVE godship is only a month and a half out of the way.

Yep, I get weird in empire too, especially when near gates. I'm always afraid I'm going to see 20 neuts and lock one up and start firing before I remember where I am.

They need to make a stand alone character creator so that us non-EVE Online players can try it out.

Also you need about 4-5 mil SP in drones before they start hitting worth a damn

Oddly, to tell from the forums, the people complaining the most about the GCC thing are gangs from lowsec or null who try running highsec sites and are unfamiliar with how CONCORD works.

Of course there are still plenty of carebears offering their officer fit BS of solo-PVE-godhood upon the sacrificial incursion altars.
