Yes, the acting in B5 is choppy... but you have to admit, the performances by Andreas Katsulas as G'Kar, Mira Furlen As Delenn and above all Peter Jurasik as Londo were all stunning.

The thing that stood our, though, about B5 was the writing.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed firefly, but it was just like Every other damn show Wheedon does.

It was Buffy dressed up as Cowboys in a Spaceship.

What's not to love.. but best Sci Fi series as the Wheedon Brownshirts claim.. never.
I fail to see the Buffy connection with Firefly beyond the director. I see no similarity.

I like Andreas Katsulas better on Star Trek. I think he over acts a lot on Babylon 5. I do like Londo and Girabaldi a lot. And I think Talia Winters (Andrea Thompson) was possibly the best actor in the show. Claudia Christian as Comander Susan Ivanova seems pretty good.

Oh man, I just remembered Defying Gravity. Described on the wiki as "Grey's Anatomy in space".

Calling people that like Firefly a "Wheedon Brownshirt" is really disingenuous. I couldn't stand the Buffy or Angel series and I really find little to liken them to Firefly.
First off, I did say in that post that I liked firefly, I just don't think it's the best SF TV show.

Second, "Wheedon's" Brownshirts" was a play on the fanaticism and name of the Browncoate.

Browncoats, brownshirts... get it?

From Wikipedia:

Whereas the first season dealt with issues like ecology, exploration of the sea, environmental radicals, advances in technology, and political intrigue, the second season featured episodes involving genetic engineering, aliens, parapsychology, time-travel, and various "monsters of the week" (including killer plants, a dragon worm, and a prehistoric crocodile). Roy Scheider was vocal in his anger of the show's new direction. In an interview filmed during the second season, Scheider averred: "It's childish trash...I am very bitter about it. I feel betrayed...It's [seaQuest] not even good fantasy. I mean Star Trek does this stuff much better than we can do it. To me the show is now 21 Jump Street meets Star Dreck."[8] "We were moving to Florida," Scheider said. "We were going to present human beings who had a life on land as well as on the boat... we've had one script that has done that," Scheider said. "The other shows are Saturday afternoon 4 o'clock junk for children. Just junk - old, tired, time-warp robot crap."[9]
Holy smoke. You know you're swan-diving into a pool of fail when your show's LEAD is calling it "childish trash" on national television while the current season is still filming.

Yeah, the second season of Seaquest sucked so badly, Scheider walked after it.

They did try to improve it again in season 3, with Ironside in the lead, and although I felt they did, it wasn't a big enough improvement ratings wise to avoid the axe.

I'm not stupid I just don't think it's amusing when you use generalizations.
I never said that Firefly was the best, just that I happen to like it.

Yeah, we got a lot of the old movie serials on Saturday morning TV in the 70s..

The Phantom Empire was the oddest..

Gene Autrey, robots, and musical numbers

Ours were played on the locally originated live kids shows: Captain Fortune, Deputy Dave, Fireman Frank, Mister Bob, Mayor (something), Captain (something like Midnight or Space).

Geeze Luc, they just "red shirted" Talia. Or at least turned her from a "good guy" into a "bad guy"

And btw, on the advice of some dude on the interwebz I watched the movie The Gathering and Sinclair was actually pretty good in that. He turned all smarmy or something for the first series

Watching Farscape now.
While interesting some of the acting is so wooden that I thought I was watching trees grow. The cast isn't too bad but the episode with the Ilanics had me unintentionally in stitches thanks to over and underacting.

damn, never thought you'd have missed out the gathering, that was the pilot.

Once you watch the episode Babylon Squared... watch the movie "In the Beginning" before going on any further.. It's the Earth Minbari War, you'll like it.

Thats actually a pretty good order, although in all honesty, I'd miss out "Legend of the Rangers" it adds nothing, and sucks bigstyle.
