If they would have run with a Steampunk vibe I could've gotten into it. Maybe they should hire Dancien to write for them.

I want a job where people present their ideas to me and I can go "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?"

Because I'm on half a bottle of rum and it still doesn't make a lick of goddamn sense.

2 users laughed. The question is: Are they laughing with you, or at you?:
This user agrees. But then, who wouldn't, right?

Really, what got me right from the beginning was "ALL electricity/power"???

What about electrical impulses in the brain?
What about the magnetosphere?
Did all the fireflies and eels die off?

So yeah, the implausibility isn't lost on me.

I found the first episode of "Last Resort" intriguing. "Elementary" needs one more episode to grab me.

I got ten minutes into the second episode of Revolution and went "eh" and something else grabbed my attention. Probably forums.

Damnit! I totally wanted to check this out. I'm just now perusing VEGAS on CBS, I'm a big ganster movie fan and I was hoping it would have a nice CASINO style feel to it, and Vic Mackey's in it! WOOT

Elementary was crap. Lucy is awesome but the Hackers guy is a tool. The show isn't much different than the Mentalist, really, except it has Lucy in it and they've robbed the Sherlock Holmes premise to garner followers.

I wanted to watch Last Resort but the first half was on at the same time as The Big Bang Theory, and, well, needless to say...

I'll give you the lowdown so you can decide if its the kind of thing that grabs you.

It set the premise pretty well. There was a submarine, a nuclear missile sub called the Colorado, in the Indian Ocean, and it received "properly formatted orders" to fire nukes at a target in Pakistan; but the orders went sent through what was described as a secondary, somewhat less-secure channel that is only used in case of the kinds of emergencies like if DC had been obliterated - which of course it hasn't been. So the captain got on the line and was like this smells bad, and asked the orders to be repeated via the proper, formal, primary channel. A little later, evidently the SECDEF personally radios the sub, relieves the captain, and places the XO in charge, and orders the sub to fire ze missiles. After a tense moment, the XO is like, "please verify the orders by proper channel". The SECDEF says "standby", and then a missile is suddenly fired at the sub from somewhere, which it manages to barely evade by diving quick. The captain is very angry.

A short time later, the sub surfaces at a coastal village where resides a teeny-tiny NATO-administered radar site, which the sub crew commandeers, and finds out that the US has told the world that Pakistan fired the missile and destroyed the Colorado, and that the US is now at war with Pakistan. There is tension between the sub's regular crew and its resident SEAL unit, which demands to know why the commanders of the sub chose not to follow a "properly formatted order". At the same time, the US sends bombers to really destroy the Colorado, and Colorado fires a missile that threatens DC if the US doesn't call off the bombers. It does call them off, but the captain allows the missile to detonate some thirty miles off the east coast. It is a nuclear detonation however, which while far enough away not to harm anyone on shore, was certainly noticeable, thus making the situation public. The captain prepares a video message, parts of which you saw/heard in the show trailers.

I think it's interesting, anyways. YMMV. IIRC, the pilot played twice - once, and then again a couple hours later. I dunno if the rest of the series will be like that, but if so it may solve the programming conflict with your other show.

Just finished watching the pilot. Like the captain, good show.

That was essentially what I got from the trailer. I'll try to watch for broadcast on a secondary, less secure channel.

eta: Full episode of Last Resort premiere available here.
