I was kind of excited to see what was coming up in today's "Fashion's Night Out" sale on MyHabit (it's a shopping site connected to Amazon, but they have designer stuff that's usually priced outrageously low). There was a promise of Hermes and Chanel stuff. The sale started at 11 AM Pacific time today. Within two seconds after the start of the "sale" both of these bags were snatched up.
It's the second one that made my heart flutter. it's absolutely GORGEOUS. My family calls me the "bag lady" because I LOVE purses with the kind of passion Imelda reserved for shoes. They work their damndest to keep me out of any second hand stores because I've been known to go in one and emerge hours later with shopping bags full of old purses (I even picked up a Coach at a Salvation Army one time).
The price on the second Hermes, though, that about caused a heart attack.
I splurged on a Louis Vuitton bag when I left my ex. A "Yea, I left the bastard" type of gift to myself. The least expensive one, $700.
Came with a nice cover and a lovely box.
The bag is practically ruined now, 4 years later. Ink marks all over the inside, a small rip on the outside. I was under the impression that bag would last me forever.
I iz hard on stuff.
Now it's sitting in my house, in the closet. Kind of still usable but, you know *sighs*
Oh well.
Glad I didn't splurge on the matching wallet too :P
P.S. All my Coach bags, which cost far less, and many that are older still are in good condition. Live and learn.

See, that's understandable. $700 is expensive, but it isn't insane and that was a moment in time where you needed to do something for yourself.
I suppose money is a relative thing as well. To someone who makes very little, 700 is outrageous. To someone who makes a massive amount, 19,000 is trivial.
