As we all know the SL Forums are closing. SCII denizens need to get together and start the farewell thread that will be locked in there until the end of time.
We need to brainstorm about the thread title and choose the thread starter over there. Let us not flame out on this. We need to keep it 'middle-of-the-road' so we go down with the ship (the band MUST keep playing).
Please contribute ideas here. Will Mulch please give feedback also.

That one is for the Forum Cartel Group. We need our own salute to the SL Forums - a fallen soldier on the battlefield of social discourse.
I never saw that as a forum cartel thread. I was never a member of the cartel (though I like many of the people that were) and I was very active in that thread for a long time. Anyone could post in it. Even the asshats that seemed to hate it so much and only posted a "you guys are teh lame" posts were represented.
As for the closing of the forums... I will believe it when it happens. We heard that one before. If LL was committed to the closure they would likely have already pulled the plug to force everyone over to the blog thingie.
I do know this is going to leave a hole for lots of people if it does happen though..

I think it will happen - ihear the death bell will toll in November for alot of old hat SL. The consulting firm BIG SPACESHIP is suppose to make their changes then.

I Think LL has made a stupid mistake. Now everyone can post chatlogs, name names and flame away - SCII And SLU will now be known as the official forums of Second Life. And it won't be pretty.
Bunch of us Thread types came over here- but this is not really the same, honestly- many have gone back there, dealing with said asshats - doesn't matter really as this place is unique and stands on it's own. The misguided attempts to recreate the same atmosphere here failed of course- one cannot create what happened on its own - it's ok though- this place here u guys have made, has its own merit and worth and I for one am glad u guys took us in- The old SL forum- whether it is mothballed or not- will always be unique and LL is truly foolish if they cut off any access- such a wealth of knowledge- there is so much to read outside of RA too- i know i read threads where Chosen Few contributes - cant understand half of what he says mind you- but the man has it together- a few others too that are just such a wealth of info on SL - dont think the OP's idea matters too much though to be honest- it wd be writing in sand at the water's edge-

The SL Forums died in 2006 when they closed down the off topic and general subforums.

theres a thread about it on the sl board.
it looks like people are implying that they lost root access to the server.
and that sounds like a great excuse to just pull it from the rack.
of course i dont imagine they actually need that access to archive the board, so i reckon snopes would give this one a red X
