Well, I had, then the R line train stopped working. And I had to fumble around trying to figure out how to get to work. Ended up walking miles to N line train station (map had station entrance in wrong spot, that added extra walking, stupid map).

best thing? it actually is larger area under my direct control than I had before I moved.

So... How was everybuggy's weekend? Didja have fun?

Here's some of the things I did this weekend an stuff.

I did go to the Remembrance Day event, mostly for BlueGin Yifu, but also f'r Sandy Clymer and Wiccan Sojourner. I did not take any piccies at the event, but it was very nicely done anyways. It's the Seasons Hunt spring edition time, so I'm definitely takin' part. That's also not much t'look at.

Me an my sibs have been out an about, including exploring the new Where It Begins region for the store Awesome Blossom. Pretty nice place -- and they have a swing set!

We've also been poking around the Weston and Oak Bluffs regions, where th' moles are doin some work on an amusement part sorta thing. Here's the three of us playing around on the pilings...

And a piccie of one of th' pillars that adorn an entrance to the area. I guess they're still workin on it, but still cool to see the classic hippo there!

Finally, on Sunday I got talked into judging f'r a catamaran race. Here I am eying the boats at the raceline in The Mastheat. This was more fun than I thought it might be. :-)

So that's what I did this weekend.

Here's hopin' yer next week is a super one!

Thanks

I think I had fun. I do not really remember. Friday taken up with waiting for A/C unit to be delivered. Saturday waiting for installers. I think I had fun in SL also over the weekend. *nods, mews*

I have pics but no one cares and I'm lazy ;p

All I've been up to is playing w/ my adopted SL family and the adding trees to my sim on osgrid and playing with making clothes [and looking like I'm right out of 2003 as a result].

G'mornin n G'evening, hope all're well, an that everyone had a great weekend.

My last couple weekends, and a lot of last week, was full of a lot of building. so this weekend, i got some play time. First off, it was the 7 Seas Fishiversary this weekend, an Livingtree was there, a-course. Here's our fishing camp:

Sunday was, a-course, may Day, and I celebrated Spring as best I could.

First, I went out and collected flowers...

(A piccie I'm proud to note got Best of Snapzilla!)

Then I went to the burning of the wicker man on escapades Island...

And when all that was done, I dance about the maypole on Livingtree.

Finally, a while back on Plurk I asked around, looking for a particular outfit. Well, one of the kid clothing designers made it, and so I jes hadda go take another portrait:

And that's my weekend!

Here's hoping everyone has a great week ahead, and many good stories t'share.

This weekend I mostly went through my old Sonia flickr account and cut roughly 4000 pictures, deleted them. Moved some over to Lexxi account.

Hatchling party May 20 2007

Still one of the funnest, funniest moments inside SL - the Osprey (Sonia - me), and Raven (Joseph Abel, long gone) adventures
May 25 2007

I had so much fun putting up my tiny Sonia pictures, she had to make a reappearance in world - April 29 2011 at Tristyn Homewood performance

And Sonia made an appearance at the forum cartel hangout party at Tolya's place

As of today, I have now been in Brooklyn six weeks, and this is the middle of the last day of the sixth work week. I might be counting something incorrectly.

hmm nothing appeAred indicating that I am on my phone.

I have seen 3.5 movies at 2 movie theatres. tend to be similiarish rating as to Rotten Tomatoes.

Walked out on Sucker Punch (22%) - though that tied to first time in those horrible theater seats.
Source Code has a 90% positive response from critics, and I gave it a solid A.
Fast Five - 79%, decent film, solid B
Hana ended up better than I expected. saw it had a 71% positive response and I wanted to see a film, though it wad not one I thought I'd see. gave it A-

Rio still playing, 72%; might see it.
Thor just opened with a 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Don't know if anyone is left, but here's one of those "wouldn't you know it" moments.

When some friends urged me to upgrade my web site from an obsolete 90's look to something more like a blog (which I haven't really accomplished yet) I thought I had better scale back my involvement in SL. I had already done so timewise, but I sold half my land to tier back and just leave a gallery space and sort of become a stray dog if and when I log in at all, leaving room in the budget for my new web space and domain name.

But then I recently downloaded an audiobook by Diane Duane called Omnitopia Dawn (Omnitopia #1). It is clearly based on SL or perhaps games like WoW. She uses interesting terms like "unreal estate" which fits perfectly. It got me all interested in SL again. Well, damn! The virtual world really is what we make of it if we could just have the time.

Hello Weston and Kaimi!

Popping in and out!

I've been coming in-world a bit, but hiding out. Getting my toes a bit wet again. Not quite ready for a full re-entry but Ghosty has come back so, I don't know. I may have to think about visiting more often.

I wish I could find something that would hold my attention however. So many people I am friendly with don't come around much anymore either, and the Cartel seems to have suffered a lot from this.

We'll see...

It's that time again! The time to wish you a good morning and/or a good evening, and write about my weekend!

It's been crazy here, with preparations for the Bay City Anniversary and Shoe Fair goin' on, an this weekend was when both of the above started!

First, Robin Sojourner was going into Shoe Fair for the first time, and working on some great saddle shoes. Which she did that, she had me shoot a lot of her promotional images for the booth, and help out on other stuff besides.

Here's one of the shots I did for her. It was a good excuse for a paety. An really, I've heard enough of political tea parties lately that I decided to take the term back. :-)

And a shot of her booth. Her new shoes - a really nice saddle shoe, can be seen to the right. She is in the Iridium region, BTW.

So the Bay City Anniversary went super. We had some 60± marching, hit a high of 56 avatars in the party after, and had a ton of fun. Here's a somewhat overhead view of the party afters:

And a shot of Route 66, all decked out for the parade. Sadly, I could not shoot piccies and march at the same time.

Sunday, of course, was a day to rest. Here's a shot out in much older stomping grounds, in the forest of Kahruvel. In the Rodeo region.

How was everyone else's weekends, and do ya have fun stuff comin' this week?

That is true - but I gotta tell you, I went and explored part of Bay City, and the first thing that rezzed for me was a sign that says "Curb Your Dog - L$25 Fine Enforced!" or something like that.

I'm afraid I didn't feel very welcome, but I persevered and did eventually find a fire hydrant to read and also got a little shopping in.

Well, of course!

Actually I'd love to set up shop there, but it's a bit over my budget. It is among the few happening places in SL these days.

Thanks for the offer, Mari! I looked around and the land is mostly little store-sized plots. I need a lot of room to chase rabbits in and so forth, so I found a big chunk of mainland just north of the Cartel Hangout to buy. Of course, the surroundings and the hangout seem just as abandoned as these forums now.

SL seems to be in a tailspin to me. No one is around, so no one stays around, making even less people around. Meh - maybe I need to make my own virtual world explorer's group or something.

Glad to see Malia still lurking. I do see Elora and Ghosty here and there and other places, which is very comforting. And I also see Maureen and Lexxi are very active on Flickr. Mari too, but that almost goes without saying. Could be just this venue. It has always been borderline rough and tumble for the old Threadies and Cartel folks.

But in world I'm part of the problem, being uncomfortable with venturing out into new territory. Last night I went to a DJ event discovered through Cartel chat. There were only total strangers (as far as I could tell, but you never really know), but they were a very welcoming and fun group. I felt I fit right in and I had a great time. So you just have to go looking for it, and I for one have to overcome that feeling I wouldn't have much to say to people I don't know. There's always something to say -- complementing their creativity for starters. The magic of SL is still there.

Weston, Ghosty and I have a new home. Honeybear was generous enough to give us a plot in her sim, with the stipulation that G pay her a stipend based on percentages of sales from his store. He has set up a new shop in a skybox on the property and it re-opens tomorrow I believe, after being closed for many months.

We're in Cherry Park. It's really lovely, a corner lot on the water and came with a house already there which is much more than we need. I'm indebted to HB for being so kind to us. She's really wonderful, always has been.

I was inworld this past Monday at Madhu's for tango night and had a very good time. Maureen was there, as was Lexxi and Crazod and a few others I know. BTW, I'm still posting on flickr too but I changed my name to Sivyaleah, which is an old internet name, my first one in fact. Since I post other stuff there aside from SL now, I decided it made more sense to use that one instead.

Hopefully we'll be throwing a party not to far in the near future. I am still mostly lurking, not in the mood to let people know when I'm in world so I have all of my friends currently turned "off". For some reason, I realized we never even friended each other which is a complete oversight so when I'm ready to declare myself really "back" I'll send you a request.

I'm always everywhere and nowhere at the same time, so while I am here, I'm also not.

Hey Malia! I just read most of your China blog. I don't know how I had missed it before. I always wondered what you were doing there and now I know lol.

Very interesting. I had a friend some time ago, who taught English as a second language and she went to live in Japan for a while. It was very difficult for her, sent her into an emotional tailspin in fact. Glad to see you coped a lot better than she did, but perhaps you were better prepared.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog, Elora.

Actually, I did NOT cope well with China at all. However, the blog is open to the public, including colleagues and potential employers, so I tried to keep it as positive as I could.

Real China was more like this:
http://www.secondcitizen.net/Forum/s...postcount=4455

It was a constant struggle for me to "find the positive in this experience". I was constantly ill with respiratory issues for the first 8 months. I began having panic attacks my first week in China. About a third of my hair fell out. I could barely absorb enough of the language to get by. It took me a horribly long time to get over culture shock... but finally, at about 9-10 months into my year, I got adjusted and could actually enjoy myself. So in the end, it was worthwhile and I'm glad I stuck it out to get to the good part... but it wasn't an easy experience for me.

On the other hand, when I lived in Japan for a year, I loved it completely and had a wonderful time there. And some of my colleagues absolutely loved it in China.

There are so many factors in play when you are living and working in another country (urban/rural, work environment, housing, food, language, health, making friends...), every person's experience is different every time they live abroad.

Ok, I have a feeling that between not knowing how to resize my snapzilla images and this being about inworldz that the following post will not be very popular.

Life goes on.

SO.

I've been meaning to go back to Inworldz for a while and Saturday afternoon I ventured back again. I had complained on SLU that there weren't any child avis there and someone told me that there were, and you could even get free child avi stuff from IDI [inworldz desert island -the welcome hub/orientation center/social place]. So I had my avi set up already but no still other kids.

I was talking w/ someone at IDI Saturday and they told me they were going to make a park. They tp'd me to an empty platform 3k up in the air and we talked about kid avis, and what they planned for the park and what I'd like [a purple house in the corner ].

I had to leave because I was wiped out IRL but I had watched them build a little. OMG when I came back was I ever in for a surprise. Basically everything in these photos was made, (tho some bought) and then added after I had logged off to sleep. They seriously busted their butts on this! I was really happily amazed when I came back and looked around.

Here's photos I took to post in the inworldz forums, but since I never post ITT I thought I'd share them with y'all too.

Sorry if this post is too

So, let's start the tour from my livingroom. Not much there yet, I haven't done a lot of shopping yet:

Of course, you can't play until you have your homework done. The park includes free computers to do your homework on if you need to

Like almost all kids places, there's a little dance floor, at least this one is cute.

On hot days nothing beats lounging in the pool, behind me is my house and a sandbox (I didn't take any pictures there)

That gets boring pretty quickly, so I went over and went to the petting zoo and chased around some critters for a few minutes.

After that I went for a ride on the merry-go-round! Fun but kinda lonely by myself

This is like, the hardest game of hop-scotch like ever. But I did it and got all the tires tho!

After all that, I was worn out -so I went and had a lil nap.

...and that's what I'm doing in inworldz.
