Default Interesting Christmas present...

So, if you had an active subscription this past week when the Incursion expansion (part the seconde) was released, you got a Christmas present: a new free ship, called the Echelon, and a module that goes with it (and only it) called a Purloined Sansha Codebreaker.

The item description of the Purloined Sansha Codebreaker reads thusly:

Quote:
CONCORD has acquired untold numbers of these devices from destroyed Sansha vessels during recent raids. The modules have the appearance of standard codebreakers, but when connected to the systems of a suitably modified ship, they exhibit significantly enhanced capabilities.

Official DED reports on the devices’ internal workings cite "inconclusive results," but CONCORD has nevertheless opted to distribute these modules to capsuleers in the hope that they might be useful in the fight against Kuvakei's minions.
Okay, so, the ship can only fit this module and nothing else, making it useless for any but a very specific application. Certainly I have no use for it. So I took my new alt's Purloined Sansha Codebreaker and reprocessed it.

...which gave me a single item called a Mangled Sansha Codebreaker. According to its description:

Quote:
This is still nearly recognizable as a Purloined Sansha Codebreaker, but attempting to reprocess it has left it broken yet still more-or-less intact. It's possible that running it through the reprocessor a second time will yield better results.
Running it through a second time? That's like a dare, right? Your wish is my command.

Run through a second time gets a couple of uninteresting components and one interesting one called a True Slave Decryption Node.

Oh yeah.

The description:

Quote:
Functionally, this piece of hardware - obviously of Sansha origin - is an extremely sophisticated parallel processing unit. Connecting it to a standard interface bus and running a few diagnostics reveals that it has been configured to act as the master node for a quasi-distributed decryption system, and its response rate suggests that it's exceptionally efficient at this task.

It is, however, difficult to ignore the fact that it's also a head in a jar - particularly when it opens its eyes briefly, looks around, and frowns.

I'm trying to convince people to do an all echelon comedy op to fountain, and see how long the IT pets avoid us till they see what's going on.

You should throw in a Zephyr or two for ambience. I'd suggest Primaes as well, but they're too slow to fit in with the op properly.

The first round of our little Christmas giveaway worked as well. A lucky carebear actually won a free, mission-fit Scorpion, along with a few shinies stashed in the cargo hold. Next round will happen again soon!

What is a mission fit scorpion and wouldn't a raven be better?

We've got a few of these to go yet, the idea is to make them progressively gooder, if you catch my drift.

*shrugs*. I didn't pick the ship. And it's free; you don't complain about free stuff!

ETA; for what it's worth, ECM will be more useful during the upcoming incursion events than it has been in PvE up to now.

Merry Christmas to the IT pets in Fountain!

It turns out that build wasn't for a titan but for a Super-carrier, it was coming out on Christmas morning, and to make it even more fun, it was a replacement for a guy who's super-carrier we blew up a month ago. The CSAA is now destroyed, and in it's place is an anchored GSC full of Carbon (Coal). Ho ho ho!

Well we've also invaded them and stolen one of their major station systems for Christmas as well.
