No you were not. You were insulting the rest of my posts here. But hey don't let the truth get in the way of your passive agressive hate towards me.

First off. I know someone very intimately who refuses to take anti-depressant meds despite being repeatedly prescribed them. That person would be me. And believe it or not, it does not mean I'm about to flip out and kill people, or that I should be immediately placed on disability or hospitalized as a danger to others, or whatever. It simply means that I prefer who I am now to who I am medicated. But please, continue judging based on tiny scraps of anecdotal evidence. It's awesome.

Second, what the fuck. Vivi talked about one person she knew who was abusing the system. She knows this person is abusing this system because - omg newsflash - she knows the person involved. It does not mean you are abusing the system. It does not mean the system should be abolished. It means nothing save Vivi gets pissy when thinking about this one person's abuse of the system. Clearly this is a good reason to attack her for two pages running now. I mean, it's not like any of you have anything better to do, I suppose, since Jersey Shore's in reruns and it's hard to make money escorting in SL now that everyone has female voice masking.

But thanks for reminding me, in a couple of pages, why I really shouldn't give a shit what many of you think, because you're too busy jumping to conclusions to really notice.

Considering that Viv was the first one making assumptions regarding this women cheating the system, your statement is grossly incorrect.

Most people here has stated that nobody can reasonable determine whether this lady really needs disability or not. Nobody said that she need it or that she doesn't... hold on.. except for Vivianne who claims she doesn't...out of her several medical degrees and psychology knowledge.

So spare me the "poor Viv"attitude and re-read the thread.

On a completely off-topic note, today is the largest full moon of the year, and last night was what is called in the Mayan Calendar, "a day out of time"- and today's the beginning of the lunar year. So- happy loony new year, not that everybody is acting like lunatics, here. Not at all.

Whereas you know this woman's attitude better than she does. Despite, uh, her knowing her in RL and your passing judgement based on 2 pages in a message board thread. WELL DONE.

All I know is that it generally isn't too easy to get on disability, especially for something like bi-polar. So, perhaps there are some things her psychiatrist is aware of that you aren't, Viv.

Sure, people cheating the system makes it easier for people to try and take down the system. But it's really hard to judge the nature of someone's mental illness, even if you interact with them regularly. So, I'm just going to chalk this up to the 'not enough information' category.

Passing judgement? My first post in this thread had to do with the belief that the state will be the one in the best situation to identify whether this individual deserves disability assistance or not.

I have never stated that she does or does not deserve such assistance. It was Vivianne who decided, based on her "knowledge" that the woman was cheating the system.

Arylinn, Luc and others pointed out the possibility that there is a valid reason to ask for disability based on mental illness.

1) The hugging is not random. It is present in each and all my posts.
2) Welcome to the Vivianne's school of passive-aggressiveness. I have no need for that, when I want to be aggressive I am.

PS. Learn to cope, the hug is the way I sign my messages.

My ex is bipolar.

I know that she couldn't work. She knows it too.

She has family members who think she should be at work, based on how she can present in a social setting.

They are wrong.

No matter how well someone external to a situation thinks they have the full picture, they don't.

I worked in mental from 1989 till 2004 when I was asked to stop work by social services as my ex's manic depression was such that I was needed at home full time, I lived with her illness for some seven years.

From both a professional and a personal perspective I feel that you can't be certain you have all the facts in this Viv.

Whoa, now.

Is it wrong somehow for him to bring the facts that were previously only available to you in that private conversation to the thread if it's adding some clear data to the mix? Did he swear an oath of secrecy?

"...From both a professional and a personal perspective I feel that you can't be certain you have all the facts in this Viv. "

With all due respect, Viv, I see only a non-aggressive stance in that statement.

I understand [and share] your position about the woman in question in the o.p.- and Luc's right, there's no way we can know we have all the facts on this. And that doesn't mean I discount your opinion, as I said.

Your reasoning skills are lacking heavily here. Or is it that you prefer to play the victim?

Nobody said that the woman needed disability coverage, or that she did not. We have all said that there is the possibility that it is needed.

I think that Don and Richies' trolling efforts are unhelpful in the extreme, and detract from the conversation.

As for the rest, I don't think they were terribly out of line. Despite disagreeing with you, they were polite.

But yeah, much as I like Don and Richie in some instances, here in this thread they were being dickheads to you.

EDIT: I did not see the second page when I posted this

I'll just say that this thread had me in tears.

I've struggled to keep work for so many years, the meltdowns when everything becomes scrambled, this past year and a half has been the first time I've really been able to get decent and consistent counseling, we've actually figured out what my problems are (autism) and ways of helping deal with it so I can live a day to day life without having so many meltdowns--so I can actually learn to properly/decently socialize--so I can learn how things like the jab-style humor actually works.

I would much rather have a regular job--but my meltdowns get me fired or I end up quitting over what sets off my meltdowns. I would really love to know what it's like to have a secure income, no matter whether it's some puny pathetic amount a month or not. I've had that with DSHS this past year and it has been the first year that I've truly started to get a sense of self esteem.

My trial (in a courtroom) for my appeal for SSI is on Wednesday. Maybe to a few of you, I shouldn't be trying for that--I should instead continue to work and get fired and not have medical and not be able to take the medications that help me so much.

Now--many people that meet me don't even think I have any issues. Many people don't notice anything but maybe some nervous fidgeting. You can't necessarily tell how "messed up" someone is via appearances or smalltalk.

Nobody said that the woman needed disability coverage, or that she did not. We have all said that there is the possibility that it is needed.

Thanks, Fmeh, and I'm sorry for your distress. You're one of the people that I wouldn't begrudge a penny to. I wish you luck on your hearing.

But while you may not have discounted my opinion, pretty much everyone here except you and Lum have.
Not trying to discount your opinion, but you're kind of discounting your 'friend's' illness entirely. I'm not sure how much information you have, but is it enough for you to properly diagnose her?

Fmeh this is not someone I've just met. I've known her for about 2 years now. I call her an acquaintance because we are not friends in any sense of the word but this isn't a passing meeting. Your situation and hers are not the same.

At the outset, you said " I've struggled to keep work for so many years, the meltdowns when everything becomes scrambled, this past year and a half has been the first time I've really been able to get decent and consistent counseling..."

Yeah there's been no struggle to keep work here. There's been no meltdowns. There's been no counseling for a year and a half. Please do not read your situation into this one. No one here is saying you don't deserve anything or aren't having a hard time of it. I've read about your struggles on this board and that for years. Please believe me -- it ain't the same thing.

This shouldn't have you in tears. This should piss you off. Because you've done everything right. And this woman is using the struggles that you and others have been through to be lazy. And because there are people like her out there that are cheating the system, it makes it harder for you and then people look at you and think maybe you are doing the same thing. And see... that's what I posted about in the first place. I never said that I thought all people going for mental disability are cheats or even that I didn't support it. Far from it. I said that I see someone I suspect of trying to game the system making it harder for others. EVERYONE should be pissed off about this.

But hey I get it -- I'm a psychopath for thinking she's gaming the system and of course I must also think you are the same. Weeee!

Please note that bi-polar is also known as manic-DEPRESSIVE. It is highly likely that the Depressive aspect may have a high correlation with what you perceive as laziness, Viv. Also, Fmeh's situation may or may not be relevant to your friend, Viv. Especially considering he is saying he is being treated in the autism spectrum now.

I'm really not trying to go off here, but I'm not so sure your perception is spot-on here.
