Red face Photo Shop/ Gimp Tips

Hello guys I have am in need of advice please.
All morning I have been working on a new project. I am making a winter home and thought it would be nice to put in those textures that show the shadow from the sun entering the window on the floor. I made one in photo shop and (as I am not that skilled at all in that area) it just seems off to me. Any thoughts on how to make it feel more realistic?
thank you

ps: off to the side wall is a door not finished btw

***also figured this thread doesn't really have to end at my question its for anyone that needs a tip or two

you have a nice technique there, the shadow looks pretty good, but you gotta add that center post in the window to your shadow.
also, add a shadow, that the wall on the left should cast, and maybe shadows for the icicles hanging too, and i think you'll be done.

Here are the other two windows off to the side rooms to get a better view/idea these are single windows.
I could angle the one a bit better thou.

looks like you might haveta darken all of the floor with shadow, that way the light from the windows pouring in would be like islands in a sea of darkness.

an easy trick to do...

build the windows on the floor over a bright white prim take a hi rez snapshot and remove the white and lay the "shadows" over your floor texture as a multiply. Give the shadow a slight blur to.

Oh true and a good idea saves prims too. I think I will do both and maybe insert a script to change the texture so one could have a choice. Thanks.

nah not that picture I wish I thought of that.
That is from a photographer who actually placed a real zipper on that ass.
It was just a PS file of a fake zipper created that one could use on anything I guess. I have been looking for one on a transparent background to make a shirt for SL, hard to find so I put it out there. meh
its in the link thou
