Default GASsing...

As most of you know, Lecktor gave me a Squier Stratocaster a year or so ago, and I have been rehabbing my guitar playing since then. I am very happy with it and have no intention of ever selling it, as it means a lot to me that Leck cared enough to give it to me.

However, I am becoming increasingly aware that there are some tunes that don't work well on a Strat. A lot of my stuff is bluesy or 60s-influenced material, and the Strat sounds great for that, but some of my other stuff is a bit heavier and really wants that thick, humbuckery sound.

Bottom line: I need a Les Paul.

It doesn't have to be a genuine Gibson -- I love my Squier even though it's not a Fender, and I would even without the Lecktor connection, so I think an Epiphone would be perfectly fine for me. I also hear great things about Greco, Edwards, and Burny LPs, though many of those seem to be in the $1,000+ range.

Funny thing is, even though I drool over the gorgeous pics of various sunbursts I see posted on guitar forums, I really don't think I want a sunburst, unless maybe I find one of the really pale ones they call Lemonbursts (see Slash's new video, "Back To Cali," for an example). It just seems as if everybody plays a sunburst. Same goes for the Black Beauty, except as noted below.

My favorite LPs (in no particular order):

- Gold top
- Black Standard or Classic with zebra pickups and white pickup rings
- Triple pickup LP Custom Black Beauty a la Frampton
- Black on black Standard (black hardware), similar to a Gothic
- Lemonburst

It'll be a while, but I've got GAS, and it has to get out somewhere.

Genius by birth... slacker by choice.
The indiscriminate use of vulgar language is the linguistic crutch for inarticulate motherfucking sons of bitches.
I can figure the number of millimeters in a light year, but don't ask me to do algebra.
And everything is green and submarine...
