Default History Channel's THE BIBLE Breaks Network Record with 14.7M Viewers

For serious.

That doesn't look like an apple to me, Miss Thang.

I don't watch tv so I know nothing.

But Google news tells me it's the record cable broadcast for the year, well so far.

Lots of Christians are happy. Critics aren't.

I'm not involved but it was this forum or the tv one.

I wonder if they included the time Yahweh sent bears to destroy some children who had mocked one of his prophets (Elijah, I think)?

I'm sure they were only cute little tiny baby polar bears like this one, to have as pets.

Of course when they grew up, they would eat the children but by then they would be adults and should slaughter the bears that were formally their beloved pets. Except they didn't have the second amendment yet and only had useless sticks and stones so because of the librals they all died.

And that is why God is making polar bears extinct.

Conflicted with Walking Dead, so forget it. Otherwise, I'm a sucker for this sort of stuff, even if I don't believe any of it.

The large viewer numbers just confirms my belief that a lot of people who profess to be Christian, never really read the bible, well not past the New Testament.

I guess they really were waiting for the Movie.

Quote:
“We could not be more thrilled with this out of the gate success,” said Downey and Burnett in a statement. “The world is watching right now and we are incredibly humbled by the reaction to the series. This No. 1 series is a tribute to all those who have helped us to spread the Word. Ultimately The Bible will be seen and felt by billions around the globe …Today, more people are discussing God’s chosen people — Moses and Abraham — in one day than ever before.”
Um.....

There were more than just those two.
Quote:
The television airing of "The Bible" on History is only the beginning for this project. Lifetime will air a repeat each week after a new episode appears on History. It will air internationally, and a DVD package will go on sale this spring. The series' scripts are bound together into a book. Producers will make a theatrical release movie of a portion of the story, and are looking at showing it in stadiums this fall. Burnett and Downey have also reached a deal to make parts of the film available as part of a religious education curriculum for churches.

"More people will watch this than any of our other series combined over the next three decades," Burnett said.
Ka-ching!! $$$

Although I agree with him that there is a lot of "bible illiteracy" I doubt this edited, entertainment driven version will really help. Sometimes you just have to read that shit, ya know? For yourself.

Anyway, you will never top Ten Commandments, bitches.

So yeah, what I'm saying is these two are "on a mission from Gawd" with this.

Quote:
"We believe the Bible," Burnett said. "However, on this project, there's only one way to approach this. You have to take the Bible as a fact."

"We have run into people that have thought, believe it or not, that Joan of Arc was Noah's wife, or that Sodom and Gomorrah lived happily ever after," Downey said. "And [we] thought, if nothing else, just to set the record straight."
They aren't treating it like their other Christian shows like oh, Survivor and Shark Tank, oh no.

Quote:
"The Bible is the foundation of this nation, of our laws, of our society," Burnett said. "There wouldn't have been the Declaration of Independence. President Obama swore his allegiance to all of us not on one Bible, on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Bible and Abraham Lincoln's bible last month. It's on our money: 'In God We Trust.'"

I remember reading about a movie that was supposed to come out by now, with some hot new actor, about the whole War in Heaven and His Satanic Majesty's Fall. (didn't like the actor playing Luc but what can you do).

Then never heard about it again, see that I would watch. That is entertainment, man, warring angels. Yes, I have all the Prophecy movies.

There weren't any apples then, either.

If you are so inclined, read this and find out where the apple story came from, it's a great book.

The dead sea Scrolls are not gospels.

They are Essene texts and hence Jewish texts, not Christian.

Books on the subject of such texts often use the word Gospel, though, Luc. There are literally dozens.

A gospel is an account that describes the life of Jesus of Nazareth. The most widely known examples are the four canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, but the term is also used to refer to the apocryphal gospels, the non-canonical gospels, the Jewish-Christian gospels and the Gnostic Gospels.
