Default The ticket mood.

You just opened this thread.
So before closing it,
place your "ticket mood of the day "
(it can be good mood,, or not )
now, or any time
of day, the night ....
with a word, a sentence,
a link, a poem, a text, a thought,
a smiley, even ... well, everything that comes into your head,
there, now. You do not want to write, you're stuck for inspiration, then you're here at the right place. You can come back whenever you want, and put whatever you want. Apart from insults and vulgarities, that goes without saying. Here we go!

Let's see if I can remember it right, getting all 14 lines correct...

Sonnet XVI by William Shakespeare

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.

If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

I had to check it. I was missing one line and I did not remember the line breaks properly. My second husband and I recited this poem to our wedding guests as part of our vows.

Still, very well done. My days of quoting Shakespeare are long past as I can't remember a lot of it.

I'm peaceful today and most days though it took a long time through a dark place for awhile.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be critical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.

It is certainly more easy to learn the Desiterata by rote as to apply it.

I helped to make the Walkway Over the Hudson happen, in my small way, and I also helped some of the people who brought Two Row Wampum and the Dakota Nation Unity Ride to this moment, and so I am feeling a bit lighter and a bit prouder than usual, seeing these photos in various places on the net.

[AND a bit homesick for the Hudson Valley, again].

“Rushing into action, you fail.
Trying to grasp things, you lose them.
Forcing a project to completion,
you ruin what was almost ripe.

Therefore the Master takes action
by letting things take their course.
He remains as calm at the end
as at the beginning.
He has nothing,
thus has nothing to lose.
What he desires is non-desire;
what he learns is to unlearn.
He simply reminds people
of who they have always been.
He cares about nothing but the Tao.
Thus he can care for all things.”
― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
