Default Imprudence Viewer Devs looking for a new home

The Dev team for Imprudence viewer are looking for a new home due to the draconian new terms LL is imposing on TPVs. They are taking tours of various OpenSim based worlds in this search. They are scheduled to tour InWorldz April 28, 2010 and we'd like to show them a good crowd of enthusiastic residents who would love to see them join this great new world. If you're a new InWorldz resident or even if you aren't (yet) we'd love to see you there.

ImpDev OpenSim grid tour dates

April 14th, 2010 by Jacek Antonelli
I mentioned in my previous post that we’ll be relocating our ImpDev developer meetups to a new location on an OpenSim-based grid.
Before we settle on a new home, though, we’re taking a tour of a variety of OpenSim-base grids, hosting our meetup on a different grid each week throughout April and early May! Fun!
Here are the dates and locations scheduled for the tour. Each meetup starts at 19:00 UTC (noon PDT) and lasts for an hour or so.
Many thanks to all these grids for offering to host us — it’s really fun to see first hand the variety of grids available these days! We’ll probably take more tours in the future, as there are even more grids out there.
Meetup reminders and exact locations (region name and coordinates) are sent to the ImpDev mailing list. If you’re interested in attending the meetups, I recommend subscribing to the list.

3rd Rock Grid? Is that based on the television series? Because if so, that would be quite interesting.

If they just mean earth . . . well . . mmphs.

(and yes, I could look myself, but I'm both lazy and want to limit the websites I visit)

I think they just lifted the name. The world itself is standard OpenSim SLish.

What I will say here about Imprudence is this, they have added quite a few features without bloating it. Emerald has too much going on.

Everything I have seen in the code of Imprudence tells me that the features are being thought out, and popular ones are added as a benefit to it's users. Not just because they can.

While Imprudence has issues with InWorldz right now, I have hope that their developers will spend some time with us, and fix those issues. Since the Imprudence devs have been willing to meet InWorldz, I have hope they will take into consideration our needs.

This is truly the benefit that Linden Labs has given us with their new TPV Policy.

I considered working the Imprudence code for our next viewer, but I would have to remove an awful lot to get it based where we want it. It is my feeling that we need a basic viewer with as few modifications in it to release to the general population. If we add too much, then it all has to be supported.

I also at one point tried to contact Emerald devs and ask them to consider looking at their code so that it would work better, which was never responded to.

The things i will miss in my Emerald:

Double tap TP
extra decimal points in building
extra shapes in building - not too much but its cool to know they are there
the handy access to Windlight presets

proly more if i think of it...

I do know i dont want anything to do with that idiotic pos LL is foisting on us -

Emerald is compliant now. You don't need to miss it. Well you need to download the compliant version, but it compliant now.

Did they ever bother to include audio support in the OS X compile of their viewer? That was a pretty glaring omission that kept me from seriously considering it.

I haven't actually downloaded it yet. There has been a rush on the viewer causing traffic problems on the website.
