What's the deal with InWorldz?

Default What's the deal with InWorldz?

So, Bunnie tells me there's a new place to check out called InWorldz, and so we went over and registered. From what I can tell it's SL but without so many people and assets.

I uploaded a skin for Bunnie and myself, apparently uploads are not working so you can upload textures all day but you don't get charged. WOOT So I'll be uploading some stuff later on today to get my inventory rolllin.

Lag was a pretty big issue, which I find odd as it's fairly empty. I didn't get a chance to explore much as it's been so long since I was a newb I'm lost without mah stuff.

If there's enough interest, maybe I'll throw together some clothing and skin textures and hand them out to peeps for something to do. Anyone know anything about the land setup over there? Rentals, etc. Commercial properties?

Feedback appreciated. Thanks in advance -

Here is a thread Amara started about Meta7, but it has kind of morphed into an inWorldz thread. Small place and glitchy but we are having fun there.

Legion, one of the founders is a member here and posts. Best place to get the answers though, in a quicker manner is their forum. As well as hounding the folks readily available at the reception area. Usually I should say. Elenia and Legion are quite frequently there while doing back end work, as well as several volunteer residents who mentor.

Also to add, it is a year old as of April. Based on opensim originally, but methodically being recoded to introduce ... stability and reliance. New shiny is on the boards but back burnered until acceptable levels of stability are achieved.

Nothing shady, I vouch for the team and was one of the original founding members. InWorldz is one of the few that has put alot of effort into making sure the money exchange code was solid and safe before opening it up. Land transactions are performed through Paypal so you have safety net there. InWorldz is also registered as LLC.

It was awesome to log in and be a noobie again! It's been almost 3 yrs for me

We ran into Zane(Zhane)? Knight and he took us to the freebie store. We crashed shortly after and are probably still standing there.

I am soo loving the whole pioneering aspect of it- today i 'captured' two more future residents. I read something on their forums to make me think there may be an XStreet like equivalent - I don't know yet though but wil find out- am also wondering about slapt.... wouldnt it be nice if there could be a bit of cross commerce that way....

It's very exciting.

What gets me is I have read an enormous amount of the SL archives and I've seen a lot of the same vibe. Where the administrators of the platform Care about the platform and speak to its residents.

I have only been with SL since 2008 so I missed all the growing pains. I can see why long time residents have such strong feelings about the direction SL has gone. The vision I have of my future inworldz is vastly different from that of my future in SL, and in fact, I don't think could be realized in the SL environment.

Right now I would be content with not having my knees and ankles bent at odd angles- hard to walk that way!!

I also see huge potential from a biz standpoint, assuming it does get going and hangs on - SL needs the competition even if its years in the making.

BTW - I contacted Slapt peep Constanza. She said their energies are being investedin SL for now but were aware and keeping an eye on IW as well as others for future-

Meantime- I think for those of us there, we have a chance to grow with it and hopefully develop together - I too wasn't in SL in the beginning, only showed up in '06 but even from then to now it is a vastly different place.

Don't get me wrong- I love my SL. I have made my life there and am not planning on leaving- but it feels nice to be in IW and get that fresh turned over prim smell

Default InWorldz

Let me try to answer some of your questions here, and I know I will miss some.

InWorldz is an Opensimulator based grid which just celebrated it's 1st Birthday on April 1. Though technically we have been around a little longer than that.

There are other posts here, and in our forums which talk about what we have done so far with correcting code.

One thing that we have not done anything with yet is the Physics Engine. This will be getting a complete rewrite at some point down the road, although it may get a few patches before that happens, as has the Script Engine. Amaranthim, this is why your knees buckle, especially on large prims. Again it will be addressed, it's just not as high priority as some of the script engine issues, etc.

Right now there are a few people renting land, both commercial and residential, but since we have experienced a boom of new comers, would be best to ask on our forums what might be available. (Good Opportunity for others, maybe.)

If there are specific questions about what works, or doesn't if you do post in our forums. Then everyone can benefit from the answers.

I know it bro. It felt really good to sit and talk again the other day. I miss those times. I think that's why we spend the time on IDI chatting, it's really good to just sit and talk to people. Listen to what their dreams are and let them know what our vision is.

When you came up with InWorldz - Where your Dreams are our Vision, you truly conveyed the ideas that we all still have for InWorldz.

InWorldz is about the people. Everyone. It needs to be in reach of any person to create and just enjoy themselves. Every person that we come into contact with, is shaping how we do things. We are not looking to make big changes without user input. That's a lesson we have learned.

I hope that everyone who comes into InWorldz will stop by and say hello. Tell us what you would like to see, and maybe help us get to that point.

Thanks for posting sorry about the delayed response I was out all day. I'm definitely hyped about getting in on the ground level of a new place. It's like playing SL for the first time all over again, but with more know-how.

I setup a forum account so I'll post over there. I noticed I wasn't being charged for my texture uploads. Hopefully that's how it's setup? I'll have to read through your forum when I get a chance (this place keeps me reading alot to keep up).

I wish I could export my shape from SL, I spent so much time on it. I'm writing all the numbers down so I can recreate it. I'm such a dork.

I'll answer a few for Legion. Uploads are free, and are planned to remain so.
You can export your shape either with Imprudence or Hippo viewers or Second Inventory as long as it's full perms. Then again, recording the numbers down is how I did it too heh

I have been there a couple of days and ran into Damien yesterday. If someone would just upload some blond hair for men I would definitely buy it -- assuming you can buy stuff that is.

I just don't have time to learn to make hair, skin, or clothes. (I can make pretty good textures however.) Perhaps I should upload some as freebies. How does one do that?

Hiya Weston. All uploads InWorldz are free. If you'd like to donate to the freebie base, just make sure they are full perm and box them up. If you'd like to catch me in world some time and pass to me I'll place them in the Freebie Warehouse by the Coffee Clatch reception area. I think the JS freebie avatar at the Freebie Warehouse has a blonde hairset with it. I'm 99% positive it does. I've asked around about quad avi makers and no luck as of yet. There is a group gaining traction already doing Anthro Furs tho, so hopefully soon! Perhaps you could mention InWorldz to the creator of your av and they might be interested in branching out business?

Weston, I have a short blonde hair that works well for guys i will upload it for the freebies and for you . You are going to need to resize it though as I made it on me so it will more than likely be too small for guys.

Well I imported a bunch of eyelashes this morning and the one hair that i think works for guys- Now, see... I have this utter phobia- I CAN'T be a guy.. so.. even though the hair will work on guys, they wil have to size it up cause i can't turn into a guy to build it on a guy sized frame...

This morning i sent an IM to a guy with a roman sounding name- Claudius maybe? I forget- but i ddi hear back yesterday from Rosa - sorry i am murdering people's names not used to folks yet - and she said he had both residential and commercial property. So.. waiting to hear
