Damn it... I finished the second beer awhile back.
But I got distracted by Twitter.
Then a dog walk.

But now... let's move on to the last beer of the night, shall we?

Yes, we shall.
(Kick said to himself.)

Beer #3:

(Alc. 12%)
(Jughandle - 4 Way Stop)

Smellin: Even handed white wine grape sweetness on the top. Slightly wet, smoky wood. Somewhere in the distance, a bready base hints at it's own existence.

Tastin: Wet, smoky wood tempered with a white wine inspired soul. A touch of raisin is inevitable. All resting on a bready biscuit.

Overallin, this is a somewhat boozy brew... obviously in the wine category instead of whiskey. A bit taught, but also pleasant in it's own right. Another one that lends itself to sipping instead of crushing.

And the pic?
I don't know... I don't want to spend time trying to figure this one out.

Oh hey, I just noticed we're on a new page!
Yay!

So, I know it's only been a few days, but it's National Beer Day and I can't very well just ignore that now, can I?!?
Plus, Untappd has a badge for checking in a beer today and y'all know I'm a badge whore.
(Well, maybe you don't, but I am. So there. :P)

Anyway, I'm only drinking one beer tonight, just to celebrate the day.
With that in mind...

Beer #1 (of 1):

(Alc. 6%)
(The Wild Beer Co. - Bliss)

Smell: Dark spices and damp hay served up on a cracker. Hints of apricot playing in the background.

Taste: Subtle damp hay strides through with wafts of dark spice behind it, trailing off into the distance before warming the tail end. Whispers of apricot play in the background.

Overall, I'm thinking this may be old or something. It seems flat, but it's possible it's supposed to be like that. The taste is more congenial than expected for something with that funky brett yeast. A good summer/early autumn afternoon beer.

And hey (hay), I found a pic, too!

So, I was totally sick last week.
Which means it's been about 2 1/2 weeks since I had a serious drinking night.
But, obviously... I'm about to fix that!

Not much to intro here, just some fun lookin beer to taste!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6.5%)
(Dogfish Head - Dragons & YumYums)

Smell: Fruit on a cracker. Sweet and tart. All the fruity flavors on the label (dragonberry, yum yum berry, passionfruit, and pear juice) do a subtle dance, with a faint hint of black carrot juice informing the edges of the profile.

Taste: Tangy and bright, sweet and sour fruit. Slightly bitter back end provides a dry balance. Hidden black carrot and cracker notes round out the profile.

Overall, this is a fairly tasty brew. A bit confusing, as it has sweet, tart, and dry notes. I could easily see drinking it at a Flaming Lips concert though!

And a related pic that makes me wish I'd been there...

And for my second act...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 6.8%)
(Cypress Brewing - ZABE)

Smell: Pineapple and citrus pith shine forward. Faint biscuit backbone. Dry hay in the distance.

Taste: Slightly creamy mouthfeel bears out pineapple and citrus pith (and coconut?). Earthy, hay forward hops. Faint biscuit backbone.

Overall, this is really nice. I mean, just slow and easy to drink. It's thicker and deeper than most IPAs and while the name is inspired by zero bitterness (0 IBU - Zero Aye Bee Ewe), there's still a hint of it trying to break through. Good for about 1/3 of the way into a summer night party.

(No idea what to do for a pic on this... so I'm not. )

And here we are.
I've had my first two and they're making their presence known.
About to hit up number three and that's when I'll be gone.

Ready?
I am.
(maybe)

Beer #3:
(Couldn't find a pic with beer glass in it.)

(Alc. 11.4%)
(Ship Bottom - Pleasure Island)

Smell: Stone fruit and faint raisin. Biscuit spine. Distant citrus notes. Hints of melon offer a Gaussian blur.

Taste: Melon and stone fruit, tempered with bitter raisins. Grounded in a biscuit spine. Sustained citrus notes in the mid-ground.

Overall, an interesting brew for sure. There's a complexity that starts with melon, flows through dry and somewhat bitter middleground, then dips back into melon for moment, before fading into pithy bitter notes.

And, of course, this one gets a pic...

Yay, it's only been a week this time!

Another set of IPAs tonight.
(I'm a bit full from dinner and I figured these'd be easier to drink than full on stouts or whatever.)
So, let's have a good night, yeah?
Yeah!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 7.5%)
(Bolero Snort - One Hoof in Front of the Other)

Smell: Sweet citrus, melon and a hint of pith. An easy going biscuit body, with a hint of black pepper. Slight bitter streak throughout.

Taste: Softly bitter pith leads the way for hints of melon, pineapple, and orange. An easy biscuit and faint hay body ends with a touch of peppery heat.

Overall, I think this is more bitter than it should be, as I didn't let this chill for very long. That being said, it's not a bad IPA. It has a creamy, thick body with a distant twang on the back end. Fairly high in juiciness. Could drink again.

Moving right along, it's time for...

Beer #2:

(Alc.7.8%)
(Evil Twin - The Soup Superior IPA)

Smells: Pomegranate steps forward, with citrus notes following. Creamy, milk IPA body on a cracker. Vanilla underpinning with distant pith lining.

Tastes: Lactose and hay open the door for pithy citrus and slight pomegranate notes. A thin vein of vanilla flows under the cracker body.

Overall, this is a weird concoction. Made with "oat and lactose with vanilla and pomegranate"... it feels like this IPA doesn't even know what it wants to be. Seems like it would be good in the second winds of the sunrise hours... after being up all night.

And then there was...

Beer #3:

(Alc. 8%)
(Foolproof - The Depths)

Smellin: Very faint. Resiny hops on cracker/biscuit body. And a hint of pepper?

Tastin: Softly resinous hops presented on a faint cracker/biscuit body. Citrus pith bite, lightly spiced with black pepper, defines the edges.

Overall, this is a pleasant brew with a strong, yet soft, profile. A somewhat thick body presents this darker tasting IPA, rounding out the somewhat bitter edges.

And finally, a pic!
At least, as fitting as I could think of...

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!!
(And a continuing congrats to Mexico for the Battle of Puebla win!!)

For me, obviously, it's time to drink.
I wanted to stick with all Mexican derived or inspired drinks tonight, but apparently craft beer doesn't tend to have much to do with Mexican origins.
So, just the first bottle is a direct relation, the others are vaguely related... maybe...

Cerveza #1:

(Alc. 8%)
(Flying Fish - Pescado Dorado)

Smell: Saffron boldly steps forward with a funky attitude. Traces of apricot wind through the oaky body, presented on a slight cracker background. A memory of pear mentions itself in the outro.

Taste: Funky saffron tempered with apricot, presented on an oaky body. Soft agave notes harmonize with the cracker backbone before signing out on memories of pear.

Overall, a bit of an odd duck... or fish, if you will. The tequila notes are more subtle than I expected, although the oak comes through clearly (but nowhere near overwhelming). If I made a TL;DR version of it's taste, I'd go with funky/oaky. Easily enjoyable brew!

(No pic, cuz apparently there isn't a plethora of naked women riding flying fish. oh well.)

Finally finished with that big ol bottle of cerveza!

Time to move on to the less holiday-centric brews.

Beer #2:

(Alc. 6%)
(Stillwater - Nu-Tropic)

Smells: Apricot and sweet grapefruit (also known as mango) presented on a bready/biscuity body, holding hands with a kinda snarky passionfruit. Just a touch of pepper notes in the undercurrent.

Tastes: Mango, with passionfruit in tow, leads the way. A soft bitter hop edge sneaks along, borne by distant pepper heat and an almost forgettable biscuit backbeat.

Overall, this is a really enjoyable brew. Closer to carbonated (slightly pithy) juice than beer. Closer to carbonated Five Alive than beer, actually!

And, it certainly deserves a pic!

And then there was the last beer.

Beer #3:

(Alc. 7%)
(Flying Fish - Red Fish)

Smellin: Bready pine and pithy citrus. A bit of sweet malt in the undercurrent.

Tastin: Smokey on a bready body. Edges of pithy grapefruit hangin with sweet malts. A bit of spice.

Overallin, meh. It's good for what it is, but it's not standing out much to me. (This may be due to my insobriety.)

Obviously it was Mother's Day weekend, which is most of the reason I didn't have an entry last week.
Also obviously, I'm getting back to it tonight!

A bit of a hodge podge for this evening.
How is that?
Well, let's get started and find out!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 10%)
(De Dolle Brouwers - Boskeun)

Smell: Smoky and boozy off the bat. A bready/biscuity body seems to come forward with dark spices.

Taste: Charred oak presented by a biscuity body. Dark spices follow with a funky, boozy nibble of warmth.

Overall, I'm not sure if I'm tasting the right thing. It's supposed to be an Easter seasonal beer, but apparently it was bottled in March... of 2014. That being said, it's a fairly pleasant brew. The only aged taste is a funky bite in the underbelly and far back end. Probably was significantly better 4 years ago!

I probably could've found a better pic, but it was taking too long.
So, you get this... which ain't bad.

Bah.
Time wasted doing stuff other than drinking.
Hurrying on to...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 7.5%)
(Cigar City - Jai Alai aged on White Oak)

Smells: Grapefruit, citrus pith and stone fruit step boldly forward. A slight cracker body holds hands with white oak whispers.

Tastes: Memories of juicy fruit fade into bitter grapefruit pith and a hint of pine. A cracker and white oak body follow close behind, joining bitter pith on the outro.

Overall, a bit more bitter than I prefer, but nicely crafted. The white oak aging definitely brings a different edge to the Jai Alai brew. There's a soft undulation of flavor that's catchy enough to keep bringing you back for another sip.

(And no, it's not easy to find a sexy Jai Alai pic. The sport is kinda rough for that kinda clothing... or lack thereof.)
(Feel free to post one though, if you can find one.)

Ok, on to the last beer of tonight's new experiences.

Beer #3:

(Alc. 6%)
(Evil Twin - Wet Dream)

Smellin: Black coffee and tobacco notes. Not sweet or bitter, just smooth. The bready body bears forth hints of malt and hops, with no discernibly sharp edges.

Tastin: Espresso steps up first, a bit of tobacco on the edges. A bready/biscuity body fills out the rest with a touch of bitter citrus.

Overallin, this is another wonderful outing by Evil Twin. Honestly, the only improvement I'd make is to make an Imperial version that adds some vanilla bean to the process. Just a lovely experience for anyone who enjoys espresso.

So, I wanted to include a pic, but "wet dream" is harder to find a good pic than I thought.
Instead, have another coffee centered pic...

Oh hai!
You know what time it is... it's Beer O'Clock!!

Tonight's choices are influenced by not having my first two choices.
Originally I wanted 3 beers brewed in the Netherlands (for an Untappd badge), but couldn't find any.
Then, I was going to get some patriotic beers (for Memorial weekend)... but again, no such luck.
So, I ended up with a few that just sounded good (one suggested by an employee at the liquor store).

And we're off!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6.5%)
(Lord Hobo - Glorious)

Smell: Sweet grapefruit and gentle melon lead the way. A soft cracker body hints at distant dry hay. A whisper of pine fills in a few details under it all.

Taste: Gentle pineapple/grapefruit on the intro. Dry hay and pith meanders forward with a soft cracker body. A whisper of pine under it all.

Overall, this is a very easy going drink. A nice mouthfeel and subdued (but not lacking) flavors make it a peasant experience.

Aaand yer related pic, boys and girls:

Moving right along to the second (and strongest) imbibement of the night...

Beer #2:

(Alc. 10%)
(Double Nickel - Brick Face)

Smellin: Raisins, plum/fig and malt borne upon a bready body. (Perhaps a bit of far distant wet hay?)

Tastin: Tempered plum/fig and malt come forward on a bready body. A suggestion of wet hay walks up, holding hands with some raisins. Dry exit.

Overall, kinda weird, but not bad. The raisin notes are well tempered, enough that I'm not annoyed by their profile at all. There's a dry and just slightly bitter lingering after each sip is said and done. Barely boozy, almost too small to notice. But yeah... not bad.

(I'm not even trying for a pic on this one.)

And now for dessert.
I mean, yeah, it's beer and all.
But still...

Look, just check out the beer and you'll catch my drift.

Beer #3:

(Alc. 6.5%)
(Dark City - Blue Bishop)

Smells: Lactic blueberries presented on a biscuit.

Tastes: Lactic blueberries. Biscuit body. Background hay funk.

Overalls, this is fairly tasty. Not as strongly blueberry as I hoped for, but smooth and enjoyable. A bit of bitter hops along the way, but just barely.

(Didn't find anything great to post for a pic.)

So, there's a missing set of entries in this thread.
Back around 3 weeks ago, the site was down, so I couldn't leave my beer reviews here.
I can't just skip that and not have them here... that'd be heresy!

With that in mind, I'm gonna copy them over from the other forum I visit.
Usually, I copy/paste them in the other direction.
Obviously.

After I lay those down here, I'll move on to my beers for tonight.
(In case you're wondering, I really have had a 3 week break from drinking nights!)
(All of these reviews are originally from June 2nd.)

Ok, enough jibba jabba...
On to the reviews...

----------------------------------
----- BEGIN JUNE 2 2018 -----
----------------------------------

Beer #1:

(Alc. 5.6%)
(Einstok - Arctic Pale Ale)

Smell: Bready body comes forward while holding hands with faintly sweet malt. Wheat characteristics helping define what smells like a fairly traditional ale.

Taste: A wheat and bread body, with subtle spices. Faintly sweet malt helps round out this brew, before a bitter moment on the far end.

Overall, it's a decent ale. The bitter hops grows a bit as you make your way through it, but not badly so. I'm not jumping for joy, but I could see this being my drink for the night at some party or something.

Beer#2:

(Alc. 6.7%)
(Cypress Brewing - Runway Models in Space)

Smell: Candied citrus beauty and faint sweet pith. A body between cracker and bread.

Taste: Earthy citrus and slightly sweet pith are presented on a thick biscuit body. Faraway bitter notes curl in on the sides, cresting as it fades out.

Overall, this is a wonderful brew. I'm betting it was even better a few months ago. It smelled so good, I gave up on getting any more detailed before trying a sip for my tasting notes. It's a lot more earthy and grassy than I expected, but I suppose I wouldn't know what space tastes like anyway.

Beer #3:

(Alc. 13%)
(Evil Twin - Even More Bible Belt)

Smellin: Dark coffee and dark chocolate slowly and deliberately walk forward. Wisps of sneaky vanilla and oak in the background provide cover for the even more elusive chilies. All borne upon a respectful biscuit backbone.

Tastin: Dark coffee/chocolate deliberately step up, supported by a bready biscuit of a backbone. Soft vanilla undercurrent tinted by oak notes provide cover for elusive chilies.

Overallin, this shit is awesome. AWESOME. AWE. SOME. It's like Heaven, if Lucifer was in charge. Dark, delicious and delicious and delicious. What do I truly desire? More of this fucking beer (and for Lucifer not to be cancelled).
Shit man... y'all need this brew in your lives.

Ok, now that THAT'S taken care of, I can move on to this evening's imbibements!

Let's get it on!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6.7%)
(Half Acre Beer Co - Vallejo)

Smell: Sweet pith and grapefruit served up on a biscuity/bready body. Faint pepper lines the far edges.

Taste: Bready grapefruit up front in a softly bitter presentation. Thin pepper notes line the piney background.

Overall, it's a decent IPA. Pleasant and unassuming. It would make a great sipping beer for summer afternoons.

And instead of a pic, there's only one thing I should post here:

And now for the next ----.
This ----- has an interesting ------.
So, let's --- it!

----#2:

(Alc. 8.5%)
(Westbrook - Citrus Redacted)

Smells: Citrus with a touch of stone fruit, then... a slightness of raisin? The biscuit body carries a bit of hay.

Tastes: Pleasantly funky hay presents strong upon the biscuit body. A citrus base coat lends itself throughout, with barely pithy moments.

Overall, this is weird. I expected a strong citrus profile, instead I'm getting strong hay. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just unexpected when.. well, you can see the pic of the can. On the other hand, the "redacted" part of the name does lend itself to a hidden citrus profile, which does work in this case.

(The picture in the last post was redacted.)

Finally, I'm on to the last beer of the night.
(Although, I may move on to my tequila after that.)

Beer #3:

(Alc. 8.9%)
(Conshohocken - Island in the Sun)

Smellin: Citrus with a small stone fruit sidecar. Hazy, sweet pineapple. A grainy, biscuit body brings hides the far distant pith.

Tastin: Summer hay sets the stage for distant pineapple notes, caressing whispers of stone fruit forward upon a firm biscuit backbone. Smooth, creamy and delightful.

Overallin, this motherfucker has an extremely thick head. Yes, thick enough that it HAD to be mentioned first. Other than that, this is a really pleasant ale. Creamy, thickish... weaker on citrus than expected, but still really nice. However you describe the minutiae of the taste, it's worth the imbibement.

And the pic... er, pics:

Hello again!
Tonight I only have two new brews... but it's for good reason.
One of them is pretty damn high in alcohol content!

But, for now...

Beer #1:

(Alc. 7.2%)
(Departed Soles - Flavor Unit - Vol 4)

Smell: Stone fruit and pineapple up first, with a whiff of pith. A bready body presents a continued citrus soul.

Taste: Stone fruit pretends to come forward, but pith takes the lead with a little piney help. Pineapple wanders up on a cracker, with more citrus notes following.

Overall, this reminds me of Five Alive, if it were a beer. Both juicy and dry, this seems more apt for drinking in the early evening than it does for the afternoon. A tasty brew that seems to get better with each sip.

(No pic for this one, even though I think there should be.)
(Once again, I present to the challenge to you, dear reader!)

Now that I'm done with that, it's time for the last beer already!
(Don't worry, I have plenty of tequila if I need more drunkiness.)

Beer #2:

(Alc. 17.2%)
(Evil Twin - Bozo Beer)

Smells: Dark chocolate, black coffee, and dark vanilla. A bready body carries a myriad of flavored whispers gently forward; chili notes, hazelnut, marshmallow, cinnamon. All sweetly roasted.

Tastes: Black coffee steps up with vanilla and dark chocolate. A creamy, bready body serves up whispers of marshmallow, chili, and even further back, hazelnut and cinnamon. All with a roasty oak underpinning.

Overall, this beer is pretty fucking fabulous. It's largely coffee and vanilla, with chocolate notes following close behind. The rest are details, each quiet on their own, but adding an altogether unique profile. Exceedingly pleasant.

Hello again boys & girls!
Sorry I missed a week, but I'm here now.

Not much of a preface tonight, just going to get right to it.

Beer #1:

(Alc. 4.8%)
(Blue Point - Mosaic Session IPA with Cucumber)

Smell: Bright citrus and sweet pith. Hints of black pepper in the cracker body. Possible pine resin in the background.

Taste: Somewhat bold cucumber with hints of citrus. Moments later, slightly dank pith meanders by as hints of pine resin trail through the back end.

Overall, not a bad session brew. It has some body to the none-to-shy flavor of (mainly) cucumber, then slightly bitter, dry hops. I could be wrong, but I think the cucumber builds throughout.

(No pic on this one... I mean, trying to find a half-dirty pic with cucumbers is, well, they're all quite raunchy, lol. Moreso than I prefer for these posts.)

And that ends the easy going portion of the night.
Now we're on to the more intense brews of the evening!
(Switching from traditional Pint Glass to Snifter for these next two.)

Beer #2:

(Alc. 12%)
(Jughandle - 4-Way Stop Aged in White Wine Barrels)

Aaaaand... just realized I've already reviewed this one.
See previous review here:

(I shoulda gotten the rum barrel aged one)

Oh shit... it's been 2 fucking hours since I opened #2?
The hell is wrong with me?
(I know, that last beer was a bitch to drink!)

Anyshits... on to..

Beer #3:

(Alc. 11%)
(Stillwater - Critical Thinking)

Smellin: Black vanilla, bitter chocolate, and espresso notes. Slightly bready body. Hints of oak, pepper and spice.

Tastin: Sweet smokey oak, vanilla, espresso come forward first. Dark chocolate deftly slides in. Easy biscuit backbone courts hints of bitter hops.

Overallin, this is a bit sweeter than I expected, but fairly solid anyway. Hard to go wrong with Stillwater. Even if the sweetness borders on being closer to a raisin melody. But yeah, smoky and dark. If I had to distill it down to two flavors, I'd probably go with oak and vanilla.

And, finally, one pic for the night.
Nothing nudie, but super hawt anywayz...

Alrighty... almost missed out on tonight, but here I am!
Sure, a bit late, but I'm getting started now!

Can't really waste time, so here we go...

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6.5%)
(Flying Monkeys - Juicy Ass IPA)

Smell: Pineapple heads up first, bringing grapefruit along with it. Lightly bready backbone. A touch of pine, with some grass notes in the backgound.

Taste: Passionfruit leads the way, both sweet and pithy. A light, biscuit backbone backs it up, with faint tangerine notes. A hint of bitter pine resin in the finish.

Overall, not bad at all. More body than you might expect. The more bitter notes are coming out in the second half, possibly due to warming up a bit. But yeah, it's nice... especially the creamier start with a thick, thick head that had me double checking if it had been made with lactose (it's not). Fairly solid IPA.

And, yeah, this one totally gets a pic!
(Not TOO juicy though, since it was only 6.5% alc., lol)

Moving along to the next strongest brew,
after one, it must be...

Beer #2:
(with full can art)

(Alc. 8.5%)
(Southern Tier - Psychic Laser)

Smellin: Subdued, very faint dank orange and banana clove. A bready backbone steps up with a bit of hay funk. A citrus reminder on the back end with a piney side-kick.

Tastin: Unassuming dank orange/banana clove lead the way. Moderate hay funk served on a biscuity cracker up next. Closed out with a faint citrus/pine backbeat.

Overall, while this was a bit difficult to pin down in smell/taste, it's a great entry in heavy IPAs. Definitely has a unique, thick flavor! I'm finding it rather pleasant, as the funk isn't pronounced and is just a part of the whole.

(No pic.)

Here's some words.
Nobody is reading them.

Beer #3:

(Alc. 9%)
(Troegs - Nimble Giant)

Smellerin: Earthy grapefruit, hints of pineapple. Mostly biscuit backbone. And some kinda root off in the background. And a touch of pine in the distance.

Tasterin: Earthy pineapple and grapefruit pith bitterness step forward. Crackery biscuit backbone supports kitchen spice (and pine-ish) backbeat.

Overallinerin, this is a thick and bold DIPA. A bit more bitter and reisnous that I prefer, but not by much... and wonderful for those who enjoy that profile. This brew only happens once a year, so go get this shit if you can!

And, for a pic?
Heheh...

Words and stuff.
Now beer.

Beer #1:

(Alc. 6%)
(Bell's - Kalamazoo Stout)

Smell: Chocolate nibs up first, with a bready body on it's heels. Bold, dark coffee softly layered just underneath the primary notes.

Taste: Dark chocolate enters hand-in-hand with dark coffee. An easy, bready body follows, with distant smokey vanilla notes.

Overall, not a bad stout. Tastes like it has more of a punch than just 6% alcohol, but not overly-boozy or anything... just it's a fairly stout, um, stout.

(And no, there's no nudie pic to go with Kalamazoo. )

Now that I've finished off the lighter fare of the night, time to move on the heavy hitters!
Switching gears and hitting up an IPA, then it'll be back to another stout.

So, here we go!
Beer #2:

(Alc. 10%)
(Stillwater - Blown Speakers)

Smellin: Sweet pineapple, mango, and grapefruit up front. Hints of vanilla lofted by the (mostly) cracker body, then a pinch of pepper under it all.

Tastin: Pineapple pith steps forward, notes of mango and grapefruit follow after. A boozy, biscuity body dominates the middle, with pepper notes on it's belly.

Overallin: I'm a bit surprised at the turn-around from smell to taste. I expected this to be sweeter than it is. Instead, it's got a thick body that's boozier and more bitter than I expected. Still, not a horrible beer, but not my favorite from Stillwater.

Aaand, instead of a pic, I have this related throwback (that I only thought of because it came on in the car just as I was about to park after getting home from getting these beers!):

And then I was on the last beer of the night.
(Audience: Awwww)
(Me: S'okay, I still have plenty of tequila if needed)
(Audience: canned cheering and clapping)

Beer #3:

(Alc. 9.1%)
(Neshaminy Creek - Imperial Chocolate Mudbank Milk Stout)

Smells: Chocolate nibs, shells, and lactose velvet beauty. Shortbread body? Espresso notes.

Tastes: Deep, plush dark chocolate nibs and espresso buoyed by a gentle shortbread body. Dreams of oak and vanilla escort the latter notes.

Overalls, shit yeah. This is where it's at. It's just velvety smooth and sweet from the first greetings, with just enough of a bitter turn on the back end to prevent it from being too sweet. Wonderfully balanced.

And I got a pic this time.
Yessir.

Wow, it's really only been 5 days since my last beer entry?
Cool cool.

I've got a bit of a spread of styles tonight.
So, let's have at it!

Beer #1:

(Alc. 9.3%)
(Birra Del Borgo - Etrusca)

Smell: Honeywine and spices take a strong step forward, lofted by a bready body. A hefty, astringent undercurrent carries nigh imperceptible notes of hazelnut.

Taste: Sharp (but well-mannered) farmhouse funk colored with notes of honey. A clay-baked biscuit body lends a hand to hazelnuts, wheat, and spices.

Overall, this is way more drinkable than I expected for both a honeyed brew and this alcohol level. It's tiny effervescent bubbles add a lot to the loveliness of this brew. There are notes here that I'm not sure how to describe, but they're pleasant and keep showing up... from the last moment of a sip, to breathing in through your teeth, even another element when just licking your lips.

Look, just try this fucking beer, ok?

Also, I have no idea what pic to include with this.

No wait, that's a lie... I have a couple ideas.
I just don't want to spend time finding one for this.
Like, I would probably just get some ancient topless statue or something.

Instead, I'm going to get on with leaving my review on Untappd and HIP forums.
By then, I'll probably be heading into tonight's IPA.

If anyone reading this wants to post a pic, please feel free to do so!

And now, on to the IPA.

Beer #2:

(Alc. 8%)
(Full Pint - Living Color)

Smells: Grapefruit, peach, and pineapple strike me first. Then sweet wheat carries the biscuity body over a spirit of pine.

Tastes: Grapefruit pith with a touch of peach. Bitter hops lead a biscuity body; wheat, pine and spices march forward in the background.

Overalls, it's not bad for a dry, bitter IPA... but probably suffers from coming directly after a brew with MUCH lower IBUs. I find myself wishing it had been more impressive, while acknowledging it's probably not missing the mark it aimed for. As I drink through this glass, it's tasting more and more like it probably should.

Again, I don't know.. not bothering with a pic for this one either.
(The first thing I think of is J-Lo from her Fly Girl days on In Living Color, lol.)

Ok, everybody.
It's time for the big boy of the night.

Let's give it up for...

BEER #3!

(Alc. 11.1%)
(Weyerbacher - 23)

Smellin: Cascara coffee, coffee grinds and a distant touch of caramel. Hints of cocoa weave through the slightly bready body, heading out with a wink of vanilla.

Tastin: Lovely progression. Coffee > coffee/cascara > cocoa > faint bready body > wink of vanilla > smoky outro. Some overlapping, too.

Overallin, this is my wheelhouse, so I love it. But, it's also smooth and lovely and... weird, because it's a "golden stout". The alcohol does start to stand out further and further, the more you drink... but that's ok.

I should at least include one pic for tonight's beer run!
Not sure what would.. oh wait... duh...

Not hard when coffee is prominently involved.

A quick heads up...

I'll be among the missing for a little while, starting this weekend.
This means no beer reviews.
No number counting.
Just... nothing.

I'll be back around the 21st.
...ish.

Hey there, y'all... I'm back!!!

A bit worn out for the night after driving for several hours today, but I'm home again.
