Default Doctor Sleep by Stephen King

Doctor Sleep is the follow up to The Shining and answers the question: What ever happened to little Danny Torrance?

It's very good. No, it's not as good as The Shining, that would be quite a feat. But that it is very good and I enjoyed it and yes, it even scared me a little (he starts that shit right off the bat) is rather amazing, given the iconic nature of that novel.

If you liked that book you will like this, I promise. (unless you really have issues with A.A, lol. Which I do, a bit, but it didn't bother me, personally) Yeah, Danny doesn't start off too well. Can't blame him.

As an aside, before Doctor Sleep I read The Red Tent by Anita Diamant and found it very excellent indeed.

Honestly, I think most of the reason it's 4 stars is due to butthurt men and crazy, fundie chirstians. Read the description (and some of the nearly two thousand reviews) and figure out why, if you don't know this novel. It's not "man bashing", it's just the truth about women's lives during the biblical era. And even then, men get off easy, imo. It is also speculative fiction based on a woman who gets passing mention in Exodus; Dinana, the only daughter of Jacob. Then again, so is most of the bible (fiction) but some people don't accept that. Or that biblical characters could possibly enjoy sex or any basic "human experiences" lol. Therefore this book was and still is considered "controversial". *insert wild eyeroll*

If you know your Old Testment, btw, you will also see that she follows the story as it was told very closely and the that this is very well researched. Go and read an online bible for that part of Exodus to refresh your memory as I did, before. Makes this more fun.

Anyhoo, she had me crying like a baby at the end, like a sentimental slob.

Wow, I was really out of it when I wrote that Red Tent review, lol.

I have another one for you...

I will make a separate post on that book later. It turned out to be my favorite book of the year. Maybe the past few years.

Loved that book, I wish I never lent it to Rece. She never gave it back.
