I just had a thought...
What if the Zombie Apocalypse happened during one of those Zombie Walk things?

But yay for Washington!
(I'll have to make note of the easiest/quickest route to get up into some mountains.)

Huh, Oregon is right in the middle at 27. We have plenty of mountains, urban density isn't really that high and everyone in Oregon (outside Portland) owns a gun. Must be our lack of any major military bases that does it.

The problem with Texas being number one is that...well, you have to actually live in Texas!

I wonder if they account for population density when considering military bases and shit.
Like, if NJ had 3 bases and Texas had 7, NJ would be better off in how much of a percentage of the population could be housed at bases.

If I'm saying that right...

It's because Everone is stoned and can't be bothered with zombies

I figured California would come in pretty good (#3) - but of course NOT the cities. Lots of supply options but lots of places to hide and fortify in the Sierras

Unless Oakland turns zombie, I bet Oakland and similar other Californian places -- all urban, Bard -- will be unmatched for violence against zombies, even considering the mountain folk.

I've never bought a gun, never needed one, thank goodness. But for some reason, maybe their prevalence, I've always known -- off the top of my head -- where I could buy one, the exact location of a particular gun store, no matter where I've lived. I think it's their ubiquity in California; not as common as Seven-Eleven stores, but half way there.

Only about half of Oakland by land area would be considered "urban". There were horses in my neighborhood and up at the top of the hills is rich / suburban.

Zombies can walk though. Seems to me the best best for people living in Oakland is to go to Alameda and barricade the bridges. Plenty of boats to use for an emergency escape and there's even an airport.
