But from the psych department - megalomania is common in abandonment cases such as my own. Hey, if mommy leaving me when I was two causes me to run the world, so be it! /laugh

OK, well, in all this psychological drama we've had going on here, I've been wondering about your upbringing. All I remember was that it was harsh in some way, unloving, or something. I did not remember that you were abandoned by your mother at two (or didn't know it).

But you need to stop fighting against this force - this thing, whatever it is.

Like I said.

Clueless.

Nah, Mero, it's two bit tin gods like you who are ten a penny.

People like Envoy are a rare breed.

Last time I heard, Mero's mommy was a crack addict, a prostitute or was it an international terrorist?

I can't keep up with the bullshit and lies, either.

Mero, my friend, you are demonstrating your out-of-touchness. People who work 20 years for the same place doing the same thing are goal oriented: at the end of that 20 years, they can do this thing called retirement, wherein they get a pension to supplement their fat 401k that they've been able to build up, and they also get to keep at least a semblance of their health insurance. You don't get a pension and health insurance by working seven years at a time in 3 different places.

Bio mom, yeah. Dad got remarried pretty soon thereafter. They split me and my sister up, she got my sister and my dad got me.

You do get a 401(k) though. And you get health insurance every job.

I think it's funny that most of the people who have agreed to your post aren't even employed.

Pensions? That's so last generation.

Health Insurance? You've heard of Obamacare, right?

The health insurance stops when you stop working - unless you retire.

You mean that thing where you have to buy health insurance or pay a fine? Problem solved when you retire with health insurance intact.

Divorce usually involves seeing your kid via visitation. I saw her again when she came down to say she'd signed away her parental rights.

Mero... You do make me think and that is all well and good. I wonder where your heart resides? Find the love of others and embrace that love. It will do you good. Really, let love flow.

Or, just keep trolling, if that is what is going on. I don't believe you can be so heartless.

Hugs.

That's why I bother reading this place - I don't get the benefit of the doubt here. People are too nice in real life. They don't call me on bullshit, or even call each other on it.

Here I've cultivated a culture of dislike that points out things that would never be pointed out in real life. Think on it - how fucking ballsy would someone have to be to say something like what you said to a person in real life? My friends won't, they don't' want to hurt my feelings. I'm sure as shit not paying a counselor. So, I have you bastards!

Me either. What's probably happening is that people read me and think they know me. Lucifer reached out to me a long long time ago and we connected, despite Mero. He liked Rob for a long long time, and defended me until very recently. Same with Viv. I am likable, and make friends easily. If you can get over the postings, which are a really small part of my life (unlike Lucifer who lives online), you'd probably like me like most everyone else I meet does.

But I get it - people here think this internet forum posting stuff is Serious Business. And, hey, when it's all you've got for a social life (or even most of it) then ... well, it's reasonable to take it too seriously and out of context.

Well, I will challenge you because deep down, I think you would like to feel love and acceptance. Not from me or anyone else here. But it would make me happy to know that you are not a totallyl heartless person. I think you are hiding behind a persona. I could be wrong.... I often am.

I do, and I feel those things - Christ my ex is STILL trying to get me back. If that's not love I don't know what is. Plus my kiddo, my girlfriend and even the support of my employees. I'm valued, for a lot of things.

But I also need to feel the negative emotions too and, perhaps, this site suffices for that - when I need the anxiety of not being loved and not being accepted I simply open a browser and its there.

/shrug.

You are valued... here for example... we all post to this thread because your are valued as a member here. I welcome your negative emotions. I personally like that you feel you can come here. You can grow here... I want you, personally, to grow a strong loving heart.

How can I help? Or, how can I fuck off? I will take either reply.

Well, this did. Also in general, just accept what I say in its context and give me just a smidgen of benefit of the doubt. Accept that maybe I'm just not explaining the my thought well or maybe you're just not understanding what I mean. When you take offense to something, ask me about it and if you don't like the answer, please just accept that that's what I have to say about it instead of needing to take a cheap shot or hurl an insult.

You hurt Vivianne too badly with your words. (And I don't care what she did to you first, or you think she did.) I was shocked by it. Hugely shocked; not mildly, like in this thread. It was horrible, and I won't forget it. I like you, though, in spite of that and some other things.

And I do consider internet forum posting stuff Serious Business. And I live online and I don't have a social life! haha But I always considered it serious business. I guess because there are PEOPLE at the other end. You know?

Well, it didn't in my case. Having a birth parent who quite clearly doesn't give a shit about you and never will is indeed a burden in life, as I well know. But it's not one that can't be overcome, and certainly not an excuse for bad behavior. Everyone has burdens.

If your father also treated you like crap, and your step-mother, and didn't care much if you lived or died, and made your childhood a living hell, then I might be impressed. But not because of one absentee, non-loving parent, when there are other family members loving you and providing for you.

I don’t want to rehash the Vivi thing, other than to say this:
She knew me since I was 22. Not online, like, actually knew me. She knew I trolled the Hannity forums. She knew I, kinda, trolled the SLU forums. I am now, and have always been, a different person online than I am offline. This was not news. I have regrets about how all that went down but – our friendship had to end, it’s just shitty that it ended that way. I’m not as available as Vivi is and no, the internet is not a major part of my social life. I don’t use it that way so we were never going to be “internet friends who sometime connect in real life.”

Same/Same with Lucifer. He’s a great guy. He’s a decent human being and I think quite well of him and his mind. But, he’s also fantastically unemployed and of a very different political religion – we shouldn’t be friends, online or off. I don’t tend to associate with those people (unemployed for years, in a relationship with someone across the globe so as to avoid actual connection, against gun rights, etc.) and while I still think he’s a really good man, I don’t want to be his friend. We don’t match. At all.

Go back and read my history – my step mom hit me (like, kind of a lot) and my dad was an alcoholic whom I saw beat my step-mom repeatedly and the only real negative thing about me is I don’t associate the internet with real life. I’m doing just fine. I’m pretty sure I’ve said the above about my step-mom and dad before so if Io’s going to chime in about the liar card (perhaps playing a little violin this time?) then feel free to do the research and quote me on it.

I like you hun; but we are not similar in this regard and if you ever met me in real life you might be shocked at how little I’m willing to fight about things with people. Really, how can I be conservative and support harsh things while also personally connecting to the individuals? I reserve the right to upset and hurt people with my opinions, thoughts and online postings up to a point.

This has been eye opening and I think explains, at least for me, a lot of the disconnects I have with people. Yeah, if I were to treat this as my social life I wouldn’t say half of what I say. You wouldn’t even know I’m conservative. I’d keep my thoughts and opinions to myself and only give you the nice soft side everyone in real life likes. I’d be more liked, but less known. I also wouldn’t post under a moniker – you’d know Rob, not Mero. I’d have a bunch of online friends I could connect to and no real outlet for what I really think. I wouldn’t be able to hash out the hard ideas or be presented with facts to dissuade me from my opinions. That’s one thing Vivi said quite often, before things went south – Mero may troll sometimes, but if you present a good argument he’ll change his mind. I don’t have the desire to dig that quote out but, if you look, it’s there.

OK, then I'm impressed. You had a horrible childhood filled with awful people. Whereas I was loved and doted on by everyone in my family EXCEPT my father.

Wait wait wait now. That is totally insane. I'm not talking about politics.

I am conservative too. But I have a bunch of online friends I connect to, and they STILL know what I really think.

(Online friends I've connected to since I got the internet, not just here; and met many irl. Though don't get excited anybody - I don't care to meet anyone irl anymore.)

So this is nonsense. I have friends irl and online who are, shall we say, "misguided" politically. And yet they know what I think. So what kind of a disconnect are you talking about?

WHEN online acquaintances can't handle anyone who thinks differently from how they do (and there are a number of those), and simply have to degenerate into horrible personal insults, then . . . it's easy. They are no longer a friend of mine. Their loss.

But that still leaves a lot of people to be friends with, while disagreeing.

So your thinking is murky on this point. I have a bunch of online friends I can "connect to" and still have "a real outlet for what I really think."

So it's not true that you have to hide yourself in order to function on forums such as these (which do, admittedly, often leave a lot to be desired in terms of rational discourse and open-mindedness).

You just have to be willing and brave. But the reward is a pretty good one: It sorts the wheat from the chaff. You find out just who will be friends with you despite political differences, and just who marinates in a constant sauce of indignant victimhood (theirs or second-hand) and overweening self-righteousness. They live in a world in which those who disagree just have to be horrible people. (While, of course, they are such totally wonderful people by comparison. Guess they need that.)

Well, you don't WANT to have those people for your friends anyway, so it is a plus to find out who is that way.

But it's not true that you have an either-or choice of being cowardly and submissive, or being overly abrasive to thine enemies. Not only can doing the latter be cruel, but it will also prevent you from being friends with the ones who aren't your enemies, but who notice the unpleasant interactions.

I don’t tend to associate with those people (unemployed for years, in a relationship with someone across the globe so as to avoid actual connection, against gun rights, etc.) and while I still think he’s a really good man, I don’t want to be his friend. We don’t match. At all.

Unemployed because when my wife became ill initially, I was given the option, stop work, or we'll have to remove the kids, following an incident when she almost strangles the eldest.and now, well there's no one offering appropriate courses for me to get back into registration.

Yes I'm in a long distance relationship, but not to "avoid actual connection". In case you forget Io HAS been over here, she plans on coming over again by spring, and the long term goal is her moving here full time. Hell if I didn't put my kids first, I'd have sold up the house and went to the states by now.

As to my views on gun rights... you obviously ain't read my posts.

Luc, you needn't explain or justify your decisions to anyone, least of all him.
