That's what I meant by "Author Showcase." People aren't so willing to come to a signing for an author they've never heard of.

Either way, it's mostly going to be a bunch of my friends hanging out, with the hopes of garnering interest from others along the way.

But when/if I see you, I'm going to be all "Heeeeeeeeey, Johnny Vann!"

Which a) is weird; and b) is weirder since there's a character in the book named Doctor Van.

Wicked Grounds.

Yes, it is a Kink Cafe and Boutique. You may see nice asses getting slapped whilst I pitch my novel.

I did not say it would be an easy sale.

1.5 hours until my Author Showcase / Book Signing. Another interesting first for me, I suppose.

It was fun, sold four books overall, three to people I already knew.

Not the best picture, but here's me waiting for thing to start.

Reasonable crowd showed up. A lot of these people are friends from my Mexico trip, but not all.

Signing a book, while Siouxsie looks on...disapprovingly?

Hey... I thought that place was supposed to be all kinky and shit.
But seriously, it looks like it was a good time.

So, what's next?
Are you planning on hitting any SciFi conventions?
How about an in-person signing in the NY/NJ area?

If you panned around 180 degrees, you'd see a wall of fetish photography for sale.

In the hallway between the room we had and the main room, a fine collection of floggers, nipple clamps and such.

And re: Sci-FI cons, I'm in negotiations to do one near San Francisco in November. By then the first TWO books will be out, so I'll have a wee bit more presence.

Don't think I rank appearing in another city yet.

Suggestion: Let's get your website up and running before book 2 is published so you can include the URL in the book.

You should also update the Kindle version of book 1 to include it, if possible.

CAN NOT WAIT FOR BOOK 2. Hey, wait a minute -- you aren't publishing chapters on your blog like you did book 1, are you? If so, I'm missing out!

So far this month, I'v been compared to Richard K. Morgan three times.

I've had people pick up copies of my book from friends, and say they have to run home and buy it.

And yet I've only sold ten copies all month.

This is a rough business.

It is and thank you for reminding me about Morgan.
I stood over my friend and watched her buy it from Amazon for her kindle (which I also helped her buy) ... I'm that good.
I've asked her to write an honest review there after she's done.

As an update for those who might be curious:

Book 2 (Sunshine and Shade): Second draft 100% done.
Book 3 (Ecstasy and Vendetta): Second draft 15% done (from 100% first draft).
Book 4 (Subversion and Solace): First draft 35% done.
Book 5 (name not finalized): ...um...conceived, at least?

Y'know... I'm thinking maybe I'll buy the (paperback) book off of Amazon.
Then I can just add having it signed by you to my bucket list.

This way I get to read and share the book... AND add future adventure to my life!

Yeah, I've been incredibly remiss in getting copies out to people. I still owe the signed copies to some, but real life has been wearing me out.

Which is mostly an excuse, because I've still had time, I've just been bad about it.

See above post re: me being bad at self promotion.

No worries.
You're talking to a professional procrastinator.

So, now it's race(?) to see who gets around to it first.
Will I just buy it on Amazon?
Will you beat me to it and I'll buy it directly from the illustrious author?

Only time will tell... maybe.

Hey Auggie! Now I can finish up in style (and easier reading than on my Touch!): my wife gifted me with a Nook yesterday, and I transferred over "Haven and Hope" to the new platform. I was reading at work last night. Woohoo - ready for the series!

I am made happy by the fact that one of the search engine terms people have used to find my novel is: Дарк Меркури.

Of course, another on the list is: "work me over" pimp -cent sadist

Revised:

Book 2 (Sunshine and Shade): THIRD and final draft 35% done (from completed first two drafts)
Book 3 (Ecstasy and Vendetta): Second draft 85% done (from 100% first draft).
Book 4 (Subversion and Solace): First draft 35% done.
Book 5 (name not finalized): Vaguely outlined.

I'm a re-writing machine, I tell ya.

I'd seriously reconsider the title of book 5. While "name not finalized" is clever I'm not sure it will market well.
