Default Push/point me in the right direction.

Ok so Ive mentioned Ive been toying with boot animations for android.
I have figured out how to take a animated gif hack it into millions of frames and then edit those frames. I understand the basics of creating a animated gif from scratch.

Heres where it gets OMG MY HEAD ASSPLODES!

Im wanting to take the Andy the android and have him ride onto the screen on a green machine. Possibly even so a skid sideways. But Im not sure how to go about it. I was told to try out a 3D imaging program (I think that is what it is) called POV-Ray. http://www.povray.org/

However readin the landing page Im not real sure it does what I want. So what Im asking is what would you guys suggest. Remember it needs to be easy and idiot proof. (haha) If not easy atleast idiot proof. I will gladly accept any offers to walk me through created a totally different animated gif just so I can get the basics down.

Also I offer pictures of my balls to anybody that is willing to help.
What? Ok I wont give you pictures of my balls.

POV-Ray!
Holy crap, I remember that from very long ago... I never used it, but it was really popular for awhile there.
It was basically a pre-cursor to Maya and 3DStudioMax and stuff like that.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was used in the old "Mind's Eye" series of CG shorts.

But, are you trying to render a 3D model/animation of the guy, then have him animated as skidding into the scene or something?
Not that I'm sure what program might help with that... but if you don't find one, maybe you could make a 2D, 8-bit styled, version as a gif animation?

Yes.

It really doesnt have to be 3D.
If you have seen some of the bootanimations for android you get the idea.

I would think you could make an animated 2D GIF to mirror that style fairly well.
It reminds me more of Flash, but either way... you're right, it's quite probable that you wouldn't need a 3D modelling program to make what you're thinking of.

I'm honestly out of my league in this topic, but I thought I'd help where I could.

Well for boot animations on android they have to be in .jpg or .png format and each individual frame in a folder. Png being the better choice of the two its not hard to convert to that after.

The biggest part is Im not real familar with "creating" the images via gimp or paint.net. Most of my experience is with editing existing images.

Thanks tho Kick atleast I know somebody was reading lol.

You're welcome.

One method that may help would be to find images of what you want, then trace them in a program that uses layers.
I've gotten some neat results with drawing stuff that way.

Is it bad that I read this as "I've been toying with boob animations for android"?

In my defense. I just got out of the hospital and not entirely clear headed
