To be... or not to be?

Many of you have asked and wondered what the future would hold for the Viewer, well here is the answer..

After lots and lots of thought and quite a bit of behind the scenes activity we are going to go Crowdfunder!

The upshot of the whole deal is this, a target has been set to fund the entire project and it's continued development for a period of one whole year. What happens remains to be seen, I can however reveal a few details of what does happen if we hit the target, and more critically what can occur if we exceed the funding target. If we seal the deal, almost instantly the binaries will become available for download the project will become active again and an updated and early build of S22 will become live.

Features that were shelved such as programmable camera positions, enhanced photo making features and radical changes to the user interface will start to come live, enhancements in the area of post processing and 3D vision are also on the schedule. Exclusive areas for funders will appear within the website for feature votes and preview access to unique builds of the client.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this is IF the funding target is exceeded, this will enable the project to license things such as KDU or even fund other developers to enhance the clients feature list faster and make the viewer even more appealing.

Building of the binaries will occur on very regular intervals with equal effort being placed both on windows,apple and linux the project will become full steam ahead.

I honestly don't know how this will all turn out which is quite fun! However if the funder bombs everyone gets a refund so that's a comforting thought, of course I would rather think about FmodEX, or 64bit clients, text to speech or any of a hundred other ideas knocking about in my head :)

Only time will tell... 60days to be exact!
