Hallucinations are distress signals from your brain. Its way of saying "Look (literally), do not put this stuff in me, no workee-workee." Brain diarrhea if you will. Only humans' bizarre idea of "reasoning" can interpret such an obvious warning sign as a wondrous and meaningful experience.
You don't hallucinate on it. You get distortions, and notice fractals really really easily, but not true hallucinations.
A real hallucination would be like if you saw a ghost-Buick drive through your kitchen driven by a reptilian Phyllis Diller, casting shadows, with full 3D realisms, and somehow it all makes sense to you.
