A Game Of Thrones / Song Of Ice And Fire

Discuss the BOOKS here, as opposed to discussions strictly about HBO's television series.

I'm on the second book. I've read all of them three or four times, possibly more. I'm on the bit where Theon returns to Pyke to try to talk his father into swearing allegiance to the King of the North and it all goes impossibly wrong.

Joy Honey 06-20-2011 10:46 PM

I'm back to reading book three. I took a little break from reading to catch up on the TV series (not quite done with that, but I'll get there :D)

I've just read the part where Tyrion has made his way to and talked to Tywin for the first time since regaining consciousness. Talk about a cold man.

Monna 06-21-2011 01:54 AM

Ja I will have to reread these also. This thread look forward to it I will.

Just 16 more days.

Freya 06-26-2011 03:31 PM

i'm glad. i've reread them all in anticipation of the new book. i need to see what happens to Arya and Jon Snow. *sighs*

Phoenix Psaltery 06-26-2011 04:05 PM

Arya will become the next breakout star on The Disney Channel, and Jon Snow is starting a screamo band.

I'm hoping Tyrion meets wup with Arya and Daenerys when he's in the Eastern Kingdoms.

quarter though storm of swords.. loving it. I got the audio version read by Roy Dotrice, he does a fantastic job giving voice too the characters, Tyrions welsh accent I like very much. though Patch and Hodor are very annoying...

Remember that Wheel of Time Re-read blog?

The same blogger has also started A Read of Ice and Fire - she's still on Game of Thrones.

http://www.tor.com/features/series/a...f-ice-and-fire

I've enjoyed her re-read blog and all the comments, so when I'm able I'm probably going to follow this blog too.

Meanwhile, I just got myself sucked into reading the Wheel of Time - I'll have to pull myself away from it when the Dance With Dragon comes out in... :gasp: 5 days.

And then there's Jim Butcher's Ghost Story. Dammit, TOO MANY BOOKS TOO LITTLE TIME!!!

Richard Waveington 07-07-2011 08:22 PM

Disgusted with Samwell having his own chapters, what an awful character :(

Sansarya 07-07-2011 09:56 PM

Samwell is one of my favorite characters. I think he's the breakout star of the series.

Use spoiler tags, please, for the sake of those of us who haven't gotten to Dance yet.

Sansarya 07-13-2011 01:37 PM

I'm only up to the second "Reek" chapter...I'll wait till I'm done with the book until I look here again. :)

/waves at P2. Hi honey, just now got out of class. The movie was way longer than I expected...

Serious question, not trying to be snarky...

So, we couldn't talk about the books in the series thread, this thread was made for that reason. Now we are being asked to use spoiler tags?

Juana said she had questions...so she should put her questions behind spoiler tags, and we should answer them also behind tags?

Kinda sucks the fun out of "Discussions" about the books.

(Or did you mean just for the latest book?)

Lucifer Baphomet 07-13-2011 02:10 PM

I have an idea.

Lucifer Baphomet 07-13-2011 02:18 PM

OK

Here you go.

A full sub forum to discuss the series.

Do a thread for each book

Fuck spoilers.

Don't post to or read a thread on a book till you've finished that particular book.

How difficult is that?

I meant the latest one, but hey, my copy just arrived, so discuss away. ;)

Thanks to Lord Lucifer, we now have a SOIAF subforum. I have taken the liberty of starting five new threads there, one for each of the books. Enjoy.

Not an insult. That's been one of my favorite musicals for close to 30 years, and, to paraphrase Lucy Van Pelt, of all the Charlie Browns in the world, I'm the Charlie Brownest.
