It's not their wet dream. It's their creation (http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2009/jul/15/games-evony-spam-internet).

Just as long as you don't fall into the trap of giving them money. Why anyone would pay real money to play an online game is beyond me.
Now shhhhh. I'm trying to decide whether to play WoW or SL this afternoon.
:lmao:

I honestly don't have time to play another MMO, and I've heard enough about Evony to put me off.
Personally I like the way Runes of Magic does it. Theres no monthly fee but there are things you can buy with real money as opposed to game gold. For example a permanent mount can be purchased for one character for roughly the equivalent of 1 month's subscription to WoW. There are other things too but that's the main one and so far the only thing I've bought. Everything that costs RL money is optional.

I have been in Evony for a month or so. It's free, so I don't expect much.
It's little more than a text based graphical version of the original Warcraft with some overtones of Sid Meyer's Civilization 2.
You have 3 screens. Town, City and Map.
There are no visible battles, all you get is a report. Higher level construction and technology can take days, even weeks.
It's an alright game though, because you don't need to glue yourself to the computer for hours on end. It's easy to login, set up your building queues, upgrade technologies and log out. However, if you are inclined to login often, you can attack resource valleys, NPC cities or flats for extra Prestige and medals, which let you to build more cities. The first 7 days online, offer you beginners protection from attack, allowing you to get a foothold on the map.
It's by no means stellar, but it is interesting, and the Alliances let you meet new friends etc, so there is a bit of community.

I'm an asshole on that game to anyone not in my alliance. The object is to build city's and fight other city's. Half the time I attack people they message me and threaten me. Then I attack again. =)
I'm in your Evony ads killin your dudes
