Ive searched around a couple forums, and everybody says different things.

What I am looking for is a headset that is comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

I am currently using a Logitech 350 usb.

It is ok but after about 30 minutes my ears hurt and my skull aches from the pressure put ontop of muh head.

Ive looked around and really like the ear bud style headsets but the ones I find have jacks and not usb connection.

I have also thought about getting a real good desk mic and just using a high quality ear bud. But nothing I can find is reasonably priced LOL.

So tell me forum. What do you recommend?

I have an older version of this one, but I have been happy with it. Reasonable price, comfy, and you know how it sounds :p Not sure what the audio quality is, as I just use it as a mic. It sits very comfy around my neck for this purpose. It is meant to go behind the head, and it isnt tight or anything when I put it over my ears.

Kita Ive looked at that a couple times.
I can slop my current around my neck, and it what I normally do.
My problem is its not comfortable after a hour or so.
And if I need to shave Im constantly wanting to stop and go shave LOL.
I want something that is comfortable and serves its purpose.
I guess Ill have to go check out the razer ones at best buy.
I wish I could find quality ear buds and a mic.

I'm using a Steelseries headset. It's not cheap but has been well worth the purchase, very comfortable with the ear cushions and the mic you just pull out as and when you need to use it.

Well- I want ones not for gaming but for comfortable convo - also , being a girl I admit vanity makes it so i don't want to look like a damn astronaut with the stupid things on -
so -
I have been looking at these http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=VoxLinc&x=0&y=0

But I ordered a set from the company not Amazon (long story, typo maybe had the pink set selling for $5.00 inc shipping) and maybe because of that they never shipped! I wd honestly buy the $65 ones if I already knew they wd sound good...

I have a Logitech ClearChat Style Headset and have been pretty happy with it. Price is right, and voice recordings sound decent.

Their USB headset is actually better, but I needed the analog one because for some reason I couldn't get the USB to play nicely with Shoutcast, so I returned it.

I don't think the behind-the-head band is as comfortable as the old fashioned kind that sits on top of the head, but it does look slightly less geeky.

Let me simply say that Logitech does not make comfortable headphones. Period. Look at the medusas again, see that padding at the top? That's the difference between a nice snug comfy earmuff feel and the a feeling like someone has wrapped your head in rebar.

Yes the padding adds more weight, but oh god does it make headphones comfortable.

At the moment I'm using a set of plantronics.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Plantronics+-+GameCom+777+Stereo+Headset+with+Dolby+Technology+-+Black/8978467.p?id=1218004380179&skuId=8978467&st=Plantronics&cp=1&lp=10

Specifically.

When I buy headphones I shoot for comfort first, I just plopped down 100 bucks on a set because one of our backup sets (mine busted) felt like I was wearing a steel vice around my noggin.

Big thick padding is a must or barring that there is a specific kind of strap that makes for good comfort (I'll post a pic), big fat over ear cups are a must, without these things headphones are nothing but head pain.

http://www.networkingaudiovideo.com/pictures/Pioneer_SE-DIR800C_WirelessHeadphones-thumb.jpg

Strappy = Comfort.

I realize this is counter intuitive, but in general the more meaty the headphones, the more comfortable they are going to be. And yes, you also get what you pay for in terms of sound quality (Medusas are fucking amazing, these plantronics are also nice, Sennheisers are also fuckin amazing, all expensive, all comfy).

Im not sure if its because there is no padding on the head or if the logitech is a bit "tight" but one of the problems Im having is after an hour or so my ears outright hurt.

Ill look at the medusa again. The place I bought my mouse from sells them and I think the ones I was looking at run about 90bucks plus shipping.

If you're looking for business grade, I suggest a Sennheiser (http://www.sennheisercommunications.com/comm/home_en.nsf/root/headsets_PCs_gaming). Plantronics have improved over the years, but how they stack up against the Sennheiser these days, I cannot speak to that. Logitech always "look" nice, but their actual components are not the best.

That's my two cents at any rate.

You want larger cups then, peep those plantronics I posted. Anything sitting on the ear or that scrunches the ear a lot when in it is uncomfy.

Im not sure. Its definitely more comfortable than the logitech but the headband pad fucks with my hair and absolutely drives me insane. Over all I think it will be better. Once I get use to the small amount of pressure put just below my ears I should be fine.
One more thing the mic is not on the right side lol Im use to having a mic on the right side and this headsets is on the left.

I use the Turtle Beach X41 wireless headset with Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound. It's $200 but well worth it even though I had to get a $20 accessory to get the mic to work with my PS3 and PC. I can wear it for hours with no problems.

Nope, we have 3 of these headsets, one of them for about a year (3 because the onboard sound went out on my pc, so I got a usb version of the same device, but the other headset works fine).

The mic finally broke to a point it would flop around.
I went to exchange them at BB, I bought the BT for them.
They only had one of them on the shelf and the package looked like somebody had opened it and then taped it shut.
So I picked up the razer carcharias they dont have the usb thingy mabob but sound real good. They are more comfortable sort than the plantronics ones.

I started to keep the usb thingy but figured they would have said something about it.
If this set breaks I will prolly stick with them. I like them.
eta
I couldnt get the damn thing to sound good on vent or using the other voip program I have.

Went to springfield to exchange them for a plantronics set.

FWIW - I bought a Turtle Beach X11 yesterday. It's well-reviewed and although I have only played three games of Modern Warfare 2 with them, I never wanted to take them off, and found myself missing them when I took then off to watch tv.

Jorus its the retractable mic part that is breaking.
The best buy and amazon reviews of it had numerous people complaining about that.
You must have got lucky and picked up the ones they used gorilla glue to glue the parts together with :D.

The Sound Blaster one I got from FB gets no use at all. The ear muffs are about the size of the inner part of the plantronics one. Over all sound was nice but the ear cups are the exact size of my ears therefore create a vacuum on my ears after a few minutes. Im keeping it as a back up.

Edav each time you post in this thread I have recently exchanged the damn plantronics headset. This time no best buy near me had one and they wanted to ship me a replacement. About 10 days to get to me. Instead I went and grabbed the razer headset. Figured I would give it a tray again. Only this time I still have the usb soundcard that came with the other one.

COmfort with it is about the same. Its definately not as tight as the plantronics headset which is nice. The earcups are smaller but not as small as the logitech one I have. I think orginally my problem was I didnt like the sound using my onboard sound card. The usb one for both the plantronics and logitech add a bit of processing to it. Plus with just using the front jacks it limits my sound outputs. I like having vent/voip on headset and games on the speakers when Im talking to people. My onboard audio doesnt support that. /shrug

Anywho if your looking for a good headset any of the ones Ive posted are good. I do sugest tho one with a usb sound card over the regular 3.5mm jacks. If you have a quality sound card then grab the razer one.

Meh Im not really that harsh on them. Just nromal wear and tear. The mic breaks in almost the exact same place on each one. And its being attributed to the fact the mic slides in and out. I got a email today from plantronics regarding it. I sent a email saying how I liked the product but had switched to razer because I was tired of replacing it every 3-4 months.

They are looking at a new design that will eliminate the telescoping mic.

From the Turtle Beach website:

The Turtle Beach PX5 is the most technologically-advanced headset ever designed for PS3 and XBOX 360 gaming, incorporating a programmable digital signal processor to allow independent customization of the chat, game and microphone signals. Custom presets stored in the Turtle Beach PX5 headset can be selected during specific parts of the game to emphasize sounds like footsteps or reloads that might otherwise be difficult to hear. It can even be programmed to disguise your voice or to enhance the voices of online players so you can hear them more clearly during intense parts of the game.

The Turtle Beach PX5 is also the first headset to incorporate dual radios—one for immersive, Dolby Digital surround sound game audio and another for chat on the PlayStation Network via Bluetooth. The Bluetooth feature also supports stereo audio streaming for listening to music while playing a game and can also be used to accept phone calls while playing the game.

Although optimized for PS3 and Xbox 360 gaming, the Turtle Beach PX5 is also perfect for watching movies and listening to music, with its impeccable audio performance, large, deep, fabric cushions, soft headband, and twist cup designed for resting the headset on your shoulders. The Turtle Beach PX5 marks the beginning of a new breed of wireless gaming headset that serves as the ultimate “secret weapon” in the arsenal of serious gamers seeking unmatched audio quality, sonic control and a competitive advantage.http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/ps3-gaming-headsets/ear-force-px5.aspx

I haven't tried it with games yet but it's a very good stereo Bluetooth headset and through my Samsung Vibrant I can play music in SRS 5.1 sound. It feels a bit different on my head but that might be due to the ear cups being oval instead of round and the headsets being new.
