For the life me I don't know why they can't do what other software programs do.

New view and classic view. I have many programs that offer you a choice.

They put too much money into the abomination to go back on it now. They had to KNOW this would be received poorly considering how batshit insane people went over the silver viewer reskin a couple years ago. (Which I use religiously. Looks good in OS X.)

Looks good in OS X.)That carries a lot of similarities actually. They forced that Dazzle skinning on users as they force 2.0 now. Saying it improves your experience meaning it forces everyone to use what LL thinks is the best. Big FAIL that time and it was only implemented as an option after all.

Obviously LL did not learn a thing from that experience. SL 2.0 is so very similar to this Dazzle shit. Hopefully they rudder back before it is too late and make it an option again to use either the 1.x or 2.x UI. I have my doubts though. But if 87% of user response, even from the fangirlz/boyz in the blogorums, are not enough, then only god can help. And we all know he does not exist.

I certainly like the additional avatar layers, and the ability to truly alias items into outfits. But those could have been added to 1.XX, no need to mess everything up.

If they'd gone from the present data transfer method (UDP?) to some method that is more fault tolerant (TCP?), that would be worth the agony of their UI improvement, to get actual improvements, not just UI 'improvements,' that are not improvements that I can see.

87% against 2.0 in both polls now (I still don't get it why they opened 2).

The layers have already been backported. Fully working for 1.23 (Henri's Cool VL) and almost fully working for 1.22 (my Rainbow) with only partial alpha textures still reverting back, code differences are too big.
