I received this today:

************************************************** **

The NMC has been contracted by Linden Lab to host a virtual conference next week aimed at content creators, scripters, and developers in Second Life. Early registration rates ($99 for three days of events) close by end of the day Friday. If you are a serious creator of Second Life Content, this will be an important gathering, especially for some special announcements Tuesday by Linden Lab Chief Product Officer Tom Hale (T Linden).

In addition to a great slate of sessions (http://www.nmc.org/2010-slpro/program), there are three Content Creation Challenges (http://www.nmc.org/2010-slpro/challenges) where you not only have a chance to win top prizes of L$10,000, but also will be able to tap into the expertise of seasoned pros to get feedback on your work.

Look for full details and online registration at

I do not think it is appropriate for LL to ask it's paying customers to pay to hear announcements about changes. Seems quite an odd arrangement.

There should have been some scholarships available for premium accounts or something.

It's 100 bucks for 3 days of presentations. That's a fair price. I'm betting T's announcements will be published far and wide regardless if they're important.

I'm thinking paying tier, Xstreet commissions and upload charges should cover the cost Linden Lab incures when presenting anything to their paying customers. LL can give MM a month's island tier to compensate them for their contributions.

This is just an odd precedent to set. Residents pay another resident for preferential treatment from the service provider. I just know that there is a better way to carry out something like this.

The way I look at it, most everything they are offering I am able to get virtually talking to my talented SL friends. I'd pay for a RL event, but don't have much interest in this personally.

That is bull crap.
I do not want solicited by another company that Linden Labs has allowed.
The price is not bad as far as conventions in rl go, however this is not the point.
enough already
there is the SLCC that is there for things like this

I trhink MM should apply as a ommunity Partner for Linden Lab and offer to be the Content Creator Gateway and run events like this as part of that program. This way LL awards them with the Community Partners perks (free islands and advertising) and new (and old) creators wanting to create an income in Second Life have a definitive start place and Linden-sponsored support system.

Seems a little costly for what it is.

i got an invite for an inworld creators conference... yes in world, and LL wanted 50 bucks.

they considered you a business person/ creator, invite you and then ask you for 50 bucks.

i deleted the email.

over the last 7 years, i think my 12k usd i paid to LL for tier, umm should have been enough.
