View Full Version : The Mod Squad
I am a bit of an add on whore. What mods do you have that make you enjoy the game even more?
Some goodies for me are:
Ackiss Recipe List - will show where to get recipes, patterns that you are missing for those of us who treat professions like a baseball card collection
Auctioneer - I don't like how bulky it is, but do like that it organizes items on the AH from lowest to highest price and will show you what your competition is before you post an item.
Autoprofitx - vendor your gray items with one click
BankItems - shows you what's in your bank, your guild bank and your alts banks no matter what toon you are on
Bartender4 - for making your own UI
Carbonite - quest help for leveling, a punk list, quick selection of character from opposing factions with the detector and much more. The only thing I don't like is their map. I really liked Cartographer's maps but they no longer update their product.
Deadly Boss Mods or Big Wigs for raid/instance warning
Enchantrix - I just use it to see if an item has more value as enchanting material
Fishing Buddy - double click the water to cast = awesome
Gatherer - shows previous collected ores and herbs on the minimap
Lightheaded - side bar for the quest logs which accessing wowhead post for easy coordinates and tips from other players
MimiMapButtonFrame - remove all that clutter around your map
Postal - tons of stuff in your mailbox? This mod has tons of options for opening all at once, only opening AH sales etc
Quartz - a better casting bar
Range Display - you can only cast at 30 yards, hover over a mob and know how far he is away
Titan Panel - I like it for being able to glimpse and see my gold, how much time until I level, what % my gear is at and other things
WIM - whispering mod
There are others I have that are just for certain classes like Zhuntermod for my hunter, decursive for my druid, SHIT for my pally.
One thing I really miss since a recent patch borked it is my simpleminimap. I've not been able to find an update for that one on Ace or Curse.

I use:
Titanpanel--I like having all the information available on the screen. Bag space, money on main and all my alts, time played, real time, experience and XP/time to level.
Bagnon--it combines all my bags into one window, plus lets you close certain bags (like leatherworking bag) and only see what you want. Also shows you bags of all your alts and your bank spaces/bags. Search function for this is key.
Questhelper--I have donated to the current programmer for this add on, so I'm not uninstalling it (though it's been breaking a lot lately). It's pretty useful for the directionally challenged, like me. :)
Gearscore--this is fun, but I hardly remember to use it.
Grid--I have this for my healer spec on my shammy, but I hardly use it.
I'm going to definitely look into the Ackiss Recipe List add on. I have 140 of 160 available recipes for cooking, slowly buying up the rest if I find them on AH or at a vendor.

I downloaded grid but haven't put it in my addons folder. I heard that it is a pain in the ass to set up and just haven't been up to the tasks of seeing how much truth there was to that.
You will love the recipe list Sans. Once you install it you find it by just opening whichever profession you want to scan for recipes. There is a small scan button in the upper right, which once you click it opens up a side window with the recipe names, area to get them, whether they are horde, alliance or both and the cords.

I am currently running wow with 3 different configurations:
Bare UI to be used on my laptop when I get to raid heal: VuhDo for healing, Decursive, DBM, Bagnon, Postal and a very few extras.
A leveling configuration that is mainly based on the nUI set; I added to it DBM. Bagnon, cartographer, lightheaded, FuBar, Postal... etc (Vuhdo and Decursive for the priest and paladin)
A completely customized UI with Dominoes (bars and buttons), X-Perl, FuBar, Pratt for chatting, Auctioneer, and the rest that I have already mentioned.

Oooh the recipe list sounds awesome; that's the kind of thing Spennix is doing in her semi-retirement. :) That and soloing things like Scholo and BFD, hoping to get the Classic Dungeonmaster ach before the old world is turn apart by Cataclysm...
I think the only addon I'm using since the 3.3 patch is Deadly Boss Mods. Very sad that Cartographer is no longer maintained (I've heard that some of the modules of it still work, if you install it piecemeal, but I haven't had the energy/time to try that). Keep meaning to look into others; tx for the thread!

I wish WIM would be updated.
I use way to many mods to be mentioned here. But fo healers I really recommend Vuh-do unless grid and clique just make you wet.
What does Vuh-do do? I have healbot and really only use it as a oh shit button. Mostly I just have the tank on focus and select other people from the raid frames and hit my key bindings.
I want something like grid but less complicated that will put my raid frames into a compact, well grid, so I can select from there and hit my keybindings.
I read in the Grid faq that it was complicated and basically a pain in the ass to set up and never downloaded it, I figure if the modder is telling you his mod sucks then it probably does.

I have Grid and Clique on my 80 priest, I just click the grid box for the person needed healing with the mouse button for the heal (that's where Clique comes in). Easy. I hardly did anything with Grid other than install it. I suppose I might get better use of it if I tried... lol

Basically, VudHo allows you to set up raid frames and spells/macros/actions to perform on a mouse click.
I use it for my Resto spec and on my priest; it makes healing a breeze. I have spells configured for left and right click, +shift, +ctrl,, +alt, etc. I use a two button mouse that is why I need the modifier keys.
By using VudHo I save one step from selecting the toon and then casting the spell.

With Grid you just hover over the person's grid box with the mouse and hit your keybound heals. Each person's health bar is their grid box, so you know if someone's getting low and can hover their box and hit "Riptide" or "Chainheal". I lack subtlety though, so everyone gets Riptide + Chainheal if they're failing fast, or Riptide + Lesser Heal if they're going down slowly. I'm probably overhealing, but

Interesting enough, the mouseover command is available for macro creation. You can create macros that trigger depending on where the mouse is.
