So.. I have a new product for the ladies (so far) I will be releasing sometime soon - almost ready.. Prim fingernails - these will have all original textures and a built in AO to keep your hand still in case some poses make the fngers a bit quirky and wd interfere with the nails' placing. I can also offer a HUD to change out colors.
To the consumer, this means you wouldn't have to buy six pairs of nails just to match your outfit. It would markedly rase the price of the cost of the nails because essentially u get several pairs in one. It also dramatically raises my investment because a custom made HUD will run me several k L's.
So the question is- if you were in the market for prim nails - would you rather pay more for all the bells and whistles. Or would you rather just buy as many colors as you like?

I wouldn't buy them at all if they did not texture change.
Texture changes are more preferred than color changes, for me at least.

i would look and see what other people are charging and find a happy medium

Bri- fiigure i wd have one particular texture wth several available colors per HUD - like say a some lines or flowers then a variety of background colors per HUD.
Tya, another choice is of course to offer both options - this can get costly n prims too.
Thanks ladies :)

yes, but if you want to be competitive, you have to look at your pricing. I undercharge for my prims nails, even though i am intergrating my hud with the nails, the price will still be the same. Just rememeber, because there is an extra option it doesn't mean its worth more. People pay for quality, not the bells and whistles.
I am just giving you some friendly business advice.

I agree with Tya.
I make prim nails as well. They have 27 textures, including French Tip and lil gems on them optional, they also come with or without finger bands (which also texture change), and rings, and are menu driven.
I find that sooooo many people are using huds and hud space is so limited that i myself prefer to not get anymore huds these days because it forces me to choose what i need less.
I haven't set a price for mine, but i was thinking something inexpensive like $350 if i sell them. Nails are so expensive, people really charge a lot. I saw a set for like $1500 with texture changing and was gobsmacked which is why i made my own.
I may not sell them though... I do like having my own things.

See to me that does sound quite pricey- i would not buy nails for that much - some folks tell me my lashes are underpriced- but I find them acceptable and wd rather sell them affordable really. As for HUD space- u dont actually need to leave it on do u? I wouldn't - I wd wear it long enough to change the color and then take the thing off. Thank you both- and good to see there are other business folks in here- i wondered since the busines forum gets so little traffic.

I prefer a hud. In terms of hud space, I would just load the hud to set what I wanted, then lose the hud.

All the HUDS i use require permanent attachment.
I guess doing a hud would not be that difficult...and then i guess i can keep the fingerbands part of the nails and just make them rezzable along with nail tip gem sets.
Maybe a hud is the way to go.
I will think about it, if i ever decide to sell them (Translation = (IF PRINTESA DOES THE BOX ART AND STUFF).
I'd be lost without my printesa.

1500? That is greed plain and simple
HUDS are great to use for texture change and the changing the RGB tinting. its easier for the end user. With those type of huds, people only use it once in a while.

I wanted to add Bri- when i said that about too pricey I meant the $1500- $350 sound right for all the color changing stuff. I would proly charge more with thee ring and such included.

Oh the $1500L guy is "MStyle" creator "Mikee Mokeev".
He really pissed me off because i bought the wrong pack, and then realized the $1500L pack had most of the colors (4 out of 6) of the pack i purchased, so I IM'd Mikee about my misfortune and got the usual "too bad, so sad, bye bye".
So i went straight home, and made my finger nails, same length as his, and i also made finger bands and had my friend Vaelissa sculpt me the finger bands (Mikee makes Finger bans too, just not linked to the nails).
So thanks to Mikee Mokeev being too stingy to let me get over with 2 colors extra, he created a competition who just expanded her nail texture pack to 41 diff. texture colors and 18 finger band texture choices along with the extra's i mentioned before.
Bad business practices and bad attitudes toward your customers can create a hellafied superior product competitor in all of 5 days.
In fact, now that i feel all fired up again, I think i will drop him a box of my nails when they packaging is complete with a "Remember me" notecard with out chat history reminding him of his greed.
I didn't even want a refund. I just wanted a discount since i was going to be buying a REDUNDANT color set if i purchased his $1500L pack. (I had actually purchased 2 of his other nail packs at that for $600 each alread, so in my mind he is really trying to squeeze me for what he could get).
I don't mind paying high prices if i think it is worth it. I bought an 18k Dress in 2004, I paid 25k for a custom pony tail, and 10k for a nose chain. I would have gladly paid 1.5k for his nails, and though i did not expect him to oblige my request, i did not need the rudeness.
I just don't get the bad attitude so many retailers have these days.
Maybe it is a American v. Non-American customer service dichotomy?

I don't know but bad manners is just plain bad manners- rudeness, stupidity to one's customers- all of it- translates to less money. If for no other reason than greed, you would think people wd try to be nicer.
I swear, sometimes it makes me wonder what some people's parents taught them! My god- the crap you see and read everyday! Not just in our world but in the physical too- how some folks made it out of adolescence with such attitudes i don't know!

The thing about a HUD is you can use it to set things and then take it off until you want to change again.

What I ended up doing is- creating 'collections with a theme' - it does cost me more in time and uploads since i make a new texture for each set in the collecton, but I think it's abetter deal for the customer and you get 6 to 8 in a box - so I did not offer individual sets just the HUD to switch thru the textures.

More I think about this the more my vote changes this might be a toy i play with only once the HUD that is.

Sorry took me so long to get back Ramonna. What I ended up doing was releasing it with a HUD and instructions that say to take it off after you choose the color. I decided it was not worth it to me time wise to boxe up separately and wd eat up to many prims as well.
