I'm going into the 4th generation with mine. It took into the 3rd to finally get a couple of different ones than what I kept calling "another black cat".

Here is the typical "another black cat" lol:

This past week, I got a Siamese (Seal fur):

Also a Burmese (Blue) - which looks like all the other black cats, but with a chubbier face - and at least, it's genetically different, which is good for breeding.

I did also get 2 grayish ones from the 2nd generation, both with Genesis Diamond fur. They are both more or less identical to each other and look like this one:

I also the SL8B cat, which is basically a starter kitty in a "costume". She is who I used to initially breed all the others with, along with one of Ghosty's starter cats.

The rest of them, are all black with varying eye colors, whisker shape and colors, and tail shapes. All ears are the same.

I have 10 of them now but several are in inventory; only 6 are rezzed at the moment due to prim issues. I've been trying to pick and choose who to breed whom to now so that I can pass the most interesting genetics of the best of them.

Yes!

A replica of my RL cat. A male ginger American Shorthair. You know, white and kind of reddish. I guess it would be either cream/white or red/white American Shorthair Tabby on the Kittycats site. Closest eye color is Canary. Frisky tail. Either curious or mysterious ears would suit him.

I would probably permapet several of them if I was able to get one that resembles my Casper :D

From Elora's experiments it looks like black is dominant; did someone actually sit down and program these cats with dominant and recessive traits? Gregor Mendel is either turning in his grave or thinking "Damn, that's cool."

I suppose they must have some sort of kitty code that sorts out genetics. That red tabby fur is pretty dominant as well. It just depends on what cats you have and which ones you pair up.

It's apparently very complicated. Callie Cline of SL, who has been a leading fashion person, is one of the main people behind them, I don't know if she is the one that coded them or not.

I had been told it would take about 3 generations for the hidden traits to come out which is exactly what happened. It seems there is a method to the breeding but I haven't figured it out yet and I'm just not inclined to get too involved with the group (sadly, nobody has written it out in detail online yet - or maybe that's for a reason?). The people in the group seem to be fucking bonkers about these things, as if they were children or something. I can't relate.

On their webside, is the geneology of my kittens, so I can track who beget who and try and figure out what traits are being passed down or not. I'm no whiz at this but it does appear that the more each cat has of different traits (less unusual and basic fur, eyes, etc.) the more of a chance you'll wind up with a more rare type of feline.

They are also scripted very well. Very fluid movements, nicely cat-like. I didn't think I would like them as much as I do but I find them incredibly charming as far as virtual pets go.

But not so cute that I want to throw a birthday party for any of them or something stupid like that :p

I got your friend request while I was sitting on the train coming home - I was confused at first, good thing you mentioned who Gwynn was lol.


He's VERY cute! He "kind" of looks like him, but my Casper has more white on him. But, he's very handsome. I'm going to show him to Ghosty and see what he thinks, and next time I'm in world I'll come by and have a look in person (I'll probably be in sometime tomorrow I'm sure - I just got home a little while ago - went shopping in the City for a change after work and now I'm too pooped to do much of anything). I have a feeling finding one that matches completely might be difficult so we may have to compromise.

It depends on how many you have. I have one out now at Ghosty's place, that has had a tray of food for geez, well over a month now. I had bought a package of 5 trays for like $750k. So that's not very much to keep him fed at all. And he's not breeding.

But when you have a lot of them set to breed, omg, they go through food like crazy. A tray of food would disappear in like 2 days sometimes if I had a lot of cats out set to breed. So easily I was spending $750K a couple of times a month, probably more I'm sure.

Yes, you can set the cats not to breed, and eventually at a certain amount of days (120) they automatically can not. The problem is you kind of get the urge to breed them to see if you'll get something interesting out of them. It does become a bit addictive. Until you realize you're wasting money. So if you can make money off kittens (which is difficult from what I understand) you're shit out of luck.

Hence me taking them all up eventually. I admitted I was powerless to it lol.

As in real life 2 cats is more than enough :p Anything more and you're the crazy cat lady (or man).

I spend between 4 and 6k a month, on food, which is insane. I also pay rent for two stores to sell them at, but I share that with best friend who is also owner of out of control number of cats, although she has fewer than I do.

Sometimes I make enough from selling to cover the cost of the food etc, sometimes not, but it keeps me entertained. As hobbies go, it's not that expensive (that's what I'm telling myself).

Hello yes, I am the other half of the internet sensation that is Pixelcats (Midi's and mine small cat store)

I usually make more on cats than I spend, but I have been lucky in the cat lottery the few times I got starters (halloween kitty was hiding Cream & White 1). I used to have a breeding chart, but since I only have a few breeding lines now it's all in my head (I have about 20-26 cats usually).

It helps being able to split rent with Midi.

All in all Kittycats has been the most fun you can have with an excel chart for me.
