From Joystiq:
After many galactic ages, Electronic Arts has finally announced a release date (http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20110924?sourceid=eag3106) for Star Wars: The Old Republic (http://joystiq.com/game/star-wars-the-old-republic), and it's not too far, far away. The long-awaited MMO will officially launch later this year on December 20 in North America and on December 22 in Europe.
In addition to the release date, the game's pricing structure has also been revealed. The subscription options should look very familiar to World of Warcraft vets. After the free month that comes with the game, plans start at $15 for a single month, $42 for three months or $78 for six months. Oh, and if you want early access, there's still time to pre-order, of course.
Thankfully, there's also still time to come up with an excuse for skipping out on your family's holiday plans.
Star War: The Old Republic Launching Dec. 20th, Starts at $15 a Month (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/24/star-wars-the-old-republic-launching-dec-20-starts-at-15-per/)
OK Kavik let your friends know so that they can join the Guild. Guilds can now align themselves with other Guilds as either allies or enemies.

Motherfucker!
Just 1/3/6 month plans... no Lifetime. :(
But YAY!
I thought it was coming out next year, this is awesome news!!
I'm sure I'll end up pre-ordering soon, myself.
Then I'll just have to re-create my character from beta and level him up again.
At least I'll know what I'm doing though! :)

Sweet.
Figures though... just when I know someone who's about to grab a VIP starter kit for City of Heroes.
...At least we'll have a couple months before SWTOR comes out. :)
I've been really missing being able to play since they closed down the beta testing.
(The one I was in anyway.)
The RPG element is pretty strong with this one AND the action is fun!
I'm sure I'll end up pre-ordering this week or something.
Plus, I want to be part of the uber-cool Cult of the Black Orchid!!

Damn it, you're right.
I just checked my email and sure enough, there's my invite to come back.
And here's my dumb ass having to re-install the whole thing. :/
Thanks for the heads up!!
(I wonder if there was a character wipe...)

They're still sending more out from what I gathered, you'll probably get it soon.
Well, if there was a wipe... that's fine by me. :D
With all the updates, it'll be nice to play through the new stuff.
Luckily, screenshots work now (YAY!) so I can take a picture of his features for when there's any other wipes. :)
ETA: Plus, it looks like the servers are down for most of today I think.
Which works for me since I'm re-installing this fucking behemoth.

Lifetime subs are not a good thing. They tend to indicate that a company is already starting to tank financially and needs a quick influx of capital just to get to launch.

Hmm.
Not a bad point.
I'll just have to be happy with the 6 month plan and save a few bucks that way. :)

It still takes a long time, but I think it's a lot shorter than it was the first time I had to install it.
In the past 14 hours I've gone from starting the installation to recreating my character to leveling til I'm just shy of lvl 12. :D

There are no plans to 'region lock' or 'IP block' players from the game. You may experience some latency issues if you're not playing in a launch territory.http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=417505

I got an email to join the beta yesterday.
Today I got an email telling me there had been a mistake.
There must have been as I wasn't in the beta in the first place. >.<
Awhile back someone hacked into their old db and old log-in stuff was compromised. I had an account for NWN.
This new email starts off with "This was due to an internal error and not the result of hacking or malware." and looks official but man Bioware is giving me a headache.

The one you got today was probably the one where they apologized for those mistakes. They are from Bioware though because they are mentioned in the official forums.

Coolio, Vivi! Something to keep in mind, though, is that guilds are locked until go-live, so nobody can even apply until the 20th.
Pre-Launch Guilds Are Locked
Today we are announcing that the Pre-Launch Guild Program for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ has come to an end. Guilds that have met the prerequisite of having four members redeem their Pre-Order Codes at our Code Redemption Center are now locked for transfer into the game in time for our December 20th launch.
If your guild has qualified for import, you can expect to receive an email at some time over the next several days. This email will give you further details on how to check the status of your guild as well as further details about how to join your guild once you’re in the game. Your email will also tell you which server your guild has been assigned to, so you will know which one to select when Early Game Access begins. While we will do everything we can to ensure that your Allies and Adversaries are on your server with you, we can’t necessarily guarantee that every guild will see their Allies and Adversaries on their server with them.
We want to thank each and every one of you who took part in the program, and we look forward to seeing you all in the game!

No doubt... Khem has "+15 Artifice Efficiency, +5 Research Efficiency", so it worked out well for me. :)
And I agree, they should do something with companions dancing... maybe not Khem Val though.
Unless he does the barely noticeable shuffle from one foot to the other type of dance that people do when they don't really want to dance.

I just got an E-mail that says the Early Access starts on the 13th not the 15th. http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/images/smilies/dance.gif This below is from the official SWTOR website:
Early Game Access* for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ is only a few days away! Starting December 13, 2011, The Old Republic will begin emailing invitations to start your Early Game Access. Invitations will be sent throughout the Early Game Access period offering rolling access to the game in the order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code, so be sure to check your email inbox!
To ensure that players can get into the game as quickly as possible when their Early Game Access begins, we are now allowing everyone who has redeemed a Pre-Order Code at our Code Redemption Center (http://www.swtor.com/preorder/code) to pre-load the game to their computer.
In order to download the game client before Early Game Access begins, you need have already logged into your account and redeemed your Pre-Order Code. Once you have done this, you can download the game client by clicking on “My Account (http://www.swtor.com/user/account)” in the upper-right of the window and then click “Pre-Order.” On your Pre-Order page, click the large button that says “Download Game Client” to begin download of the game!
If you participated in our recent Beta Testing Weekend between November 25th and 28th and still have the game client installed, you will be able to patch this client instead of re-installing by simply launching your client, logging in and allowing the download to complete. If you did not participate in the November 25th – 28th Beta Weekend, first uninstall the Game Testing Client and then re-install to ensure your game client will function correctly during Early Game Access.
Learn more (http://www.swtor.com/early-access) about how to get ready for Early Game Access!
If you haven’t pre-ordered Star Wars: The Old Republic yet, you still have time. Visit our Pre-Order Page (http://buy.swtor.com/us/), secure your copy of the game and redeem your Pre-Order Code at the Code Redemption Center (http://www.swtor.com/preorder/code) to pre-load the client and qualify for Early Game Access.
If you have any issues installing or patching the game client for The Old Republic, check visit the Customer Service Support section (http://www.swtor.com/support) for information and assistance.
*Customers who redeem their Pre-Order Code at the Code Redemption Center (http://www.swtor.com/preorder/code) prior to launch will be able to pre-load the Star Wars: The Old Republic Game Client before the official Game launch. Pre-loading the Game does not grant you access to the Game. Pre-Ordering the Game only allows you access to the Early Game Access period and your Color Crystal. Early Game Access may be up to 7 days. The length of your Early Game Access depends on the date and order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code. In order to continue playing the Game after the Early Game Access period, you must redeem your official Game Product Registration Code at the Code Redemption Center (http://www.swtor.com/preorder/code).Star Wars: The Old Republic | News, Updates, Developer Blogs (http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20111207)

I just found out that the Early Access was going to be five days long but they added the two extra days to ensure a smooth launch. Plus it allows them to better control how many people get in on each day of the Early Access. One way to see if you are able to log in is the launcher will have the "Play" button lit up. You will also receive the E-mail on the same day that you are eligible to log in.
They are also making sure that people who per-ordered get theirs will get it on the day of launch in the US and Canada they will be at retail stores on launch day. My guess is the stores probably already have or will have them soon. Also Early Access people won't get a "grace period" post launch in which those who are in Early Game Access will be able to continue to play the game. In order to continue playing past the Early Game Access period, you will need to enter a valid launch game code and payment method.
If you pre-ordered through Origin.com you get the code on 12/16. Supposedly if it was per-ordered from another retailer online the launch code will be sent through E-mail.

I got my invite this morning probably in the third wave of invites and was able to create a toon, join the Cult of the Black Orchid and get up to level two before having to go to work for a few hours. Kavik already had his in when I was in so I was the second one to join the guild. I'm about to log in for a bit so see you there and remember to "Smell the Hate!" :D

I keep checking my email, but nothing yet... probably because I didn't pre-order until September.
So I may not get in for another couple days.

From the SWTOR forums:
Hey everyone.
We absolutely understand you want to get in and play the game early. It's one of the reasons we expanded our Early Game Access from a maximum of five days to a maximum of seven days. However, there are a couple of important points to realize about today's opening salvo of invites, and the procedure in general for Early Game Access and launch.
First, Early Game Access and launch is not supposed to be a stress test. In our previous Beta Testing Weekends we got up to very large concurrent number of players and brought invites into the game at a very high rate. That was done to stress test every aspect of our systems and servers, and essentially to see if they broke. In some cases, they did, but that helped us improve for launch.
For us, launch isn't just about stuffing our servers with as many people as possible. As anyone who's been through a large MMO launch can tell you, that experience can be painful. Our aim with this launch was to ramp things up gradually, to spread our player population out amongst a variety of servers, to maintain all server types, and to keep queuing to a minimum (although we expect that to happen as we head towards December 20th). So far, all that has been successful for us on Day One.
The second thing to realize is scale. We invited more people to play Star Wars: The Old Republic today than many other MMO launches manage in their entire head-start process. As I mentioned earlier today, when we opened pre-orders we had a huge spike in numbers - far more than most MMOs capture at launch. That was the initial rush. After that, our pre-orders settled down.
What this means is that tomorrow, you'll effectively start to see the pre-order timeline expand. You'll see people who have pre-ordered later than July getting invites. The day after that, more people will be invited. We're actually planning to invite more tomorrow than today, and invite the same number again on Thursday - at which point we'll be into the original 'five days of Early Game Access'.
Last thing. Why aren't we continuing to send waves over time? Two main reasons - one, because we need to see that the servers are maintaining stability over time; adding a lot of players in a short period (in other words, stress testing) can cause stability issues.
Two, our plan is to continue to add servers - but carefully, and in response to demand. We need to monitor that demand and roll out servers accordingly. A long-term recipe for MMO failure is to add a lot of servers early on, and then when population decreases, have to close those servers and merge them together.
Our aim is for Star Wars: The Old Republic to be around for a long time to come. Today's just the first step in that - an early step, too - and we'll be running smoothly, with a stable population, before too long.P.S. I have a pending charge in the amount of the SWTOR CE plus shipping on my CC. :rockin:

I love everything they're doing.
It's smart and should help avoid crazy queue lines.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get in until Thursday, at the earliest.
I still want in NAO though. :D
I'd love to see some of those dumbfucks in the SWTOR forums get a clue.
People claiming it's failed already... *facepalm*
Anway, that's awesome about the numbers from today alone!!! :kick:
(I got the Standard Digital edition.)

(I got the Standard Digital edition.)They should be happy that, so far, things are going very smoothly. If they would have dumped all of them in on the first day and there was lag and long queues they would be going crazy over that. It wouldn't have bothered me if I wasn't on the first day since I wasn't really expected to be. My experience,so far, has been very good except for some reason my internet connection wants to act up but that is probably my IP's problem.

I tried looking for a picture of the t-shirt my wife made me buy recently, but I couldn't find one anywhere.
The point is, it says "VADER IS COMING! look busy." (With the head of Darth Vader for the "A" in "VADER".)
I made a pact with myself that I would wear it on the day I get into Early Access (and again on the 20th.)
I'm wearing it right now. :D
So... I'm off to re-create Frenn'Zi and get to smelling the hate! :kick:
