Watch this clip, filmed in 1928 at the premiere of the Charlie Chaplin movie "The Circus":
As you watch, take notice of the 2nd person to come into frame. What's she doing with her left hand?

She's on a cell phone. In 1928.

Well, the first comment is
That's my grandmother. She called me the other day and said "Guess where I am?"
I said, "Behind a zebra with a saddle."
Then she paused, looked over and saw the Google Maps car.
so I guess that guy :)

Ice held to a tooth ache? Compress to a seeping wound? She seems to be grimacing in the brief moment we can see her face. Hiding her face because she is really a he, but they needed a female walk-on? Hiding her face because she's a spy or a police agent within the movie; Chaplin's Tramp was always in trouble with the police? Well, except when he was one, on Easy Street.
Hey, you have to improvise when you time-travel...

For the record, that's not part of the movie, it's an extra on the DVD, and it's a shot of the movie's premeire at Mann's Chinese Theater...that's just a random passerby.
I'm not so sure that's a grimace tho...it looks like her mouth is forming words.
