I'm working on Loremaster, among other things, with my main.

On the plus side, everything in kalimdor and the eastern kingdoms fall swiftly at my roguish feet, so quests go very quickly.

On the down side, there are SO MANY FREAKIN QUESTS!. I have 95 left in the Eastern Kingdoms and 200+/- in Kalimdor.

It only took me 2 or 3 months to get Loremaster of Northrend...the other continents take forever.

I convinced Don to go for the Loremaster achievement before the expansion. I read a article on a blog about how Cataclysm will change Azeroth forever and alot of quests will no longer be available or change.

I am leveling a baby shaman, and I'm leveling her against all recommendations, Elemental.

Why is elemental not recommended? I have a little shaman that I've been playing on and off, and levelled her as enhance 'til about 45 and that was quite painful, slow-going and I'd die all the time. Elemental, oth, is fun and easily survives 3 mobs at the same time. I don't have BoA gear for that char, but she's decked out mostly in dungeon blues, so it's not a gear issue.

I don't know. They say enhancement is faster especially after lvl 40 when you get dual wield. I have a lvl 80 paladin anything an enhancement shaman can do compared to a ret pally will be teh sux.

Elemental is easy as hell. I have the BoA chest, shoulders, both caster trinkets and the staff with +80 spell power enchant.

Every time I am on my shaman I say to Don. I who ever said enhancement was better for leveling then elemental is crazy.

The only downside is that before you get to outlands there is very very little caster leather or mail.

P.S. I still wear your signature flip flops I got as a newb to SL .

Once you have it installed and ready to go again, have Jourus back up your entire WoW folder to another drive or location on your home network. It never has to be installed; just up-to-date on patches. It'll run regardless. I've moved mine from drive to drive a few times.

Well, I had taken it off because I was having issues with it and he said that might help, since I just transferred everything from my old computer to the new one (now 2 yrs old). I just had not gotten around to re-installing it. I did save things such as the WTF folder and stuff. Ya, I'm tired. :lol:

Spennix update: after instancing in the fashionable Wymrest Tabard, and doing Accord dailies for some time, she finally got Exalted with them, only to notice that the Red Drake (which is really the whole idea) costs 1600g, and she only had like 300g after outfitting herself and various alts with a motorcycle and Mongeese and Crusader enchants an' all.

However, it's apparently really easy to make lots of gold these days when you're level 80, and after some pretty intense farming yesterday (including doing 25 dailies, which is rare for her), and lucking into some cheap titanium bars on the AH that could be made into expensive titansteel bars, she now has (when I checked AH mail while waiting for a work meeting to start) just over 1600g. Woot woot!

part of the reason I've been healing is it's a lot easier on my joints than tanking or dpsing. a lot of my frustration in wow right now comes down to not having anyone left on my server that i know and can run with. i think i'm just burned out and should take a break.

Paladin and Warrior are both a hair more frenetic.

Macros.

Macro Lacerate and Maul
Now Macro Swipe and Maul
Now macro Mangle and maul.

These are your 3 major buttons in the rotation.

The Fourth is Demo Roar, which isn't necessary, but if you have a weak healer... helps a bit.

Get yourself a decent timer, I liked TellMeWhen, it can be programmed to let you know wassup.

The wassups you want to know: You want to keep 5 stacks of lacerate on the target. You want to mangle whenever its up. You want to swipe when you can't mangle. So set the timer to track these.

Oh crap, macro FFF (Feral Faerie Fire) and Maul together as well. In fact macro every button to maul. Why not.

Open with FFF, mangle to capture a good lead, build 5 stacks of lacerate.

Now you are on what hunters call a "Priority rotation".

Priority 1:

Lacerate Stack maintained at 5. If lacerate is about to wear off ... Lacerate.

Priority 2: Feral Faerie Fire (this threats like crazy)

Priority 3: Mangle

Priority 4: Swipe

Additional if you want it: Demo Roar (I worked it into my rotation).

So basically you want to Lacerate before the timer runs out,

FFF whenever it is up and lacerate is fine.

Mangle when FFF is on cooldown and lacerate is fine.

Swipe when FFF and Mangle are on cooldown and lacerate is fine.

Don't sweat maul, if you macro'd it... it's all done. You should be pressing a button roughly every one second. It sounds complex, but once you have tanked say a heroic or two you will be set and know pretty much what you need to, the rotation is very simple ONCE YOU HAVE DONE IT. Till then it seems overly complex. If you can tank Heroic ToC (5 Man) you can pretty much tank Naxx, and Ulduar, and in fact may be overgeared for Naxx.

Be warned: Compared to a warrior DK or Paladin rotation druid is fucking boring.

Swipe is by far the best fucking "Grabber" in the game. When it comes to rounding up mobs, I'd rather have a druid on my team than anything else.

Now Ohshits:

Survival Instincts: Same as last stand. Blow it when you need a big pile of HP fast.

Feral Regen: If talented properly this boosts healing to an amazing degree.

Barkskin: 30% damage reduction (at least last time I played) Yeah this is kind of a big deal.

All of these are on short cooldowns. I know at the time I last played Druids were the only ones that could solo tank Mimiron without having to do a tank swap or receiving a ridiculous amount of overhealing. Mainly because they were the only class that could cycle through cooldowns fast enough to use them multiple times in the fight.

This guide kinda sucks, but I quit more than 3 months ago, and I stopped tanking on my druid right after ToC dropped. It should get you into heroics.

I can do druid and paladin, I've tanked 10 and 25 man ToC on both, and was started on Heroic ToC when I quit on the Pally, I understand some of the warrior mechanics having ran with some as offtanks in the past, but I'd be a poor teacher.

From my understanding it's the most challenging of the tank classes, and when I say challenging I mean "Fucking broke".

They have problems gathering, problems with AOE, threat is the lowest of all the tanks, and their HP pools are only fair to middlin, and their mitigation is outclassed by Paladins.

*Please note when I say "Fucking Broke" I mean laced with frustration. Druid tanking was laced with frustration when I first started, but I was able to both off and main tank with it. It got better with a few patches. All of the tanks were viable when I last played, some were just overcomplicated, while being underpowered at the same time (I'm really just describing Warrior again... drats)

** Also note that if you have a paladin, there is really no reason NOT to pick up a tanking set for it. Paladin Healing is just... well painful. I went Ret/Tank on my paladin and swapped my Druid over to Resto/Feral (Cat) and never looked back.

It takes a special person to tank as a Warrior. I, personally, can't stand it. Especially not after tanking on my Paladin. However, I have run enough dungeons with some Warrior tanks to know that not only can it be done, but it can be done well.

They do have issues picking up adds, though. It is frustrating. Extremely so; however, at the lower levels as you're working your way up, it is the perfect time to try it out.

Besides, it can't hurt. The Guild Bank will even pay for your re-specc'ing fees. Just hit me up in-game and I'll toss you some gold so you can try it out at no cost to you.

SO lastnight we go into a fresh run of ICC 25m.
We get to gunship and the RL puts it on heroic.

Ok so you see the targeting things on the ground? Well they knock you back when they hit. My placement for healing hte tank that goes over is on the edge, now normally I am more aware of things...but lastnight well. I was running over to the edge cause the tank moved to far in and I couldnt heal him. Just as I did this a rocket landed and knocked me off the boat. I tried to say in vent I had gotten knocked off but the chatter over rode me.

Well you can just fall down and it will put you back on the boat. So thats what happened I landed on the boat only to see the tank die. Which he says in vent..I dunno what happened I just died. My response "you ran out of hit points cause I was knocked off the boat and couldnt heal you fast enough."

At which point laughter erupted in vent. Then not even a minute later same thing minus the tank dieing, and one of the other people said dont run out of hit points Jimmy or you will die. At which point I spit beer all over the place.

So the new thing is when somebody dies, someone will ask "did you run out of hit points?"

lastnight after uludar nerd points run I was tweekin my ui. a guildies says in vent "damn mage is trying to camp me" and I asked her where she was.

In tanaris so I grab the CoT port in Dal and head her way.
The mage is like 3 levels above her and would wait for her to start fighting mobs and then attack her.

So I rolled up in holy spec and pve gear. She was almost dead when I used lay on hands. Then HoJ the mage and killed him. Since it was the fourth time he was trying it three of my other guildies came out to torture the guy.

When he rezzed he must have gotten a random dungeon que for zf cause he just disappeared. So I stuck around cause I figured some 80's would show up for some reason. About 10 minutes later another group of horde showed up and proceeded to attack the low level people questing.

So we rolled in and wiped them out. At this point my group got separated and the warrior was able to keep me locked with stuns and interrupts to kill me. I run back and while running back see our main tank that was there dying but he was able to stay alive. I rezz and proceed to start healing and the warrior came after me again. which I started kiting him. and my guildie proceeded to kick his ass. We all grouped back up at the zf entrance as that is where they was headed. I positioned myself on the wall so I couldn't get cc'ed by the warrior.

The group came back it was 3v4 our favor. The warrior kiting my people out of my LOS so I couldn't heal them. Once he would get close to dying he would charge people to get inside zf so he could heal up. Smart move but lame imo, Ill bring this back up in a bit. Well one of my guildies had to log and one of the other guildie came out. So it was back to 3v4 when the cow druid would show her face. Was funny the warrior would fight straight up but the druid would wait till people were almost dead to attack.

There was some confusion and my team ran out of my LOS so I ran over to heal them. My mistake as that's when the warrior focused me down. Three stuns and constant interrupts leads to a dead paladin. Plus prot warriors have this massive cleave ability that hits like four frieghtliners doing 90. So we all decide we are beat but want to get one last hoorah in. We were about to run out of zf and try to kill the paladin healer the warrior had and then get the warrior. When I said no lets all just hearth from here and Ill sneek out on my rogue and see how long they sit and wait for us.

So we all hearth to Dal and I log on my rogue. Run down to zf and far enough away stealth and walk up so I cant be seen on radar by a hunter or cat dr00d. I walk into the entrance of zf and there is 6 of em there waiting for us to run out. Now mind you this was atleast 10 minutes after we hearthed. I was going to go sap the paladin since he was off by himself and instead my macro goofed and I attacked him but I ran into zf and waited like another 10 minutes before I ran out. They were still there waiting on us.

I ended up dying as some freaking how I was seen by the goodamn lock sprinting away in stealth and far enough I lost targeting. The warrior of course charged me to stun me then shockwaved to stun me and at this point squishy rogue died. I hit evasion and dodge two hits and that massive cleave ability procced and he hit me for about 22k.

I ran back rezzed and kited the warrior hunter and lock away from the zf portal and logged out. I hoped on my hunter and started talkin shit to the warrior. In which he kept responding like a kid would with abbreviated words and then guess what? Accused me of being a 12 yr old kid. So I respond with, nice attempt to claim Im a kid. But your inability to spell your and fuck any other way than ur and fuk would indicate you are the child. But by accusing me of being a 12 yr old means your just a lazy adult trying to look cool.

We bickered back and forth. Then the warrior proceeded to try and talk shit about us running into zf...at which point I said you are the clown that did it first. SO stop trying to talk shit about a smart move to heal when you yourself used it. I talk some more shit and the guy puts me on ignore. That irked me so I logged on my low level trade chat troll and proceeded to finish the conversation. This is when I tell him we had logged like 30 minutes ago and I was just talkin shit to him to keep him there hopin we would walk out so he could look like a idiot to his guild.

Now this is the funniest part. He responds with lol i wont look like a idiot cause we are running our guildies low levels through zf...and Ive been inside this whole time. Right then my guild master saw the warrior alone and kicked his ass. I sent him a tell and said LOL I thought you was inside zf...I guess you are now a fool for falling for a trap. wowhead has a profiler thing.
you register download there plugin thingy mabob and it will get your info from the server next time you log in.

then you just let it upload to wowhead and it will list achievements quests and all kinds of stuff on your profile page.

There is an addon called "Everyquest" that list all existing quests. Using that one with the "track low level quests" should do the trick.

Yeah I did the ghost already. I know I have one quest in Blasted Lands left to do and its the one where you spend hours getting one rare thing to drop and i've been avoiding it. I don't think I've done any in Searing Gorge yet so I should go check that out.

I dropped that one. There are more than enough other quests you can do to get the achievement, no sense going nutty trying to get that annoying stone.

Yeah I am less than impressed with everyquest. I installed it last night but it is not getting all the completed quests from the server and is telling me I have quests where I know I don't. I think I'm going to uninstall it.

If you're using Everyquest, make sure to also upload Everyquest Quest Givers. I also used several of the blogs out there to locate things like random drops and repeatable quests. After slogging along for weeks, I was about to give up when by complete accident espied a quest giver on a cliff above Sun Rock Retreat. Had maybe the last 3 or 4 quests I needed to do the deed. I have to say, the tabard you get for the achievement is kind of anti-climactic... it's butt ugly!

A pal in my guild keeps challenging me to go for the Insane title. So far I've resisted giving any more of my mental health to this addiction.

Sigh. Yes we've been talking about going back to retail. We're currently playing on private servers. I pay for our WoW accounts, so I can feel better about myself by doing it, but private servers allowed me to continue to play even with little time.

Retail takes sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long to get anything done (in case you didn't gleen it I'm not one with loads of patience). Then Lich King came out and nerfed the locks (it looked really awesome but alas, it was a lie :fist:). I'm not sure if they've ironed it out or what.

I'm really wanting to get back into it for the next expansion, Demo locks are my thing so I've been doing some research on the PVP/PVE adventures of others to get some ideas for spec tuning. I'm quite fond of my TBC locks (demo/afflic and demo/dest). My demo/dest lock just cracked 3k HKs :woot:

Once I get settled into classes this fall, I just might get back to date and on the retail servers again.

Basically you spec for siphon life and soul link. You share HP with the voidwalker and you siphon health from opponent back to you.

A SL/SL lock and a resto druid partner were literally invincible, and in world pvp it wasn't unusual to see that pairing take on up to 5-10 people of different classes, you could slap 3-4 players DPSing the lock and it couldn't bash through the healing.

EDIT: To give you an idea of how powerful a SL/SL lock is when it comes to survivability... the Leotheras fight in SSC was often tanked by one for half of the fight.

Hmm. That's rather depressing I currently chew up hunter's and spit them out on the regular. Felguard vs any hunter pet is a no brainer and usually they don't have time to get any decent shots off because if they stand still for any length of time Gaant beats them in the face with his axe. :D

I prefer to play a caster, magic is my thing and I like to keep range on my vicitms, I mean targets. I tried Shaman but I couldn't get into it, too much micro management with totems and everyone pissing and moaning about this one vs that one then they argue and it's all downhill from there.

I am building a Boomkin to check them out but I stalled out at lvl 30 and got sidetracked with an ally rogue I'm working on. I like the rogue but I'm shitty at playing them. Druids are pretty cool because it's like the jack of all trades you can do a bit of anything.

Warriors are not my thing, I can't stand the patience required to be a healer and shadow priests are getting owned on the regular where I'm currently playing, but I like the concept. I like a challenge but I'm not into spending most of my day running back from the gy.

So much micro managing to keep this and that and blah blah blah and initially IMO mages were broke.

I am building a Boomkin to check them out but I stalled out at lvl 30 and got sidetracked with an ally rogue I'm working on. I like the rogue but I'm shitty at playing them. Druids are pretty cool because it's like the jack of all trades you can do a bit of anything. Druids are one of my least favorite classes..but feral and resto I tolerate boomkin can suck my nuts. I have grudge and will never get over it :P.

Warriors are not my thing, I can't stand the patience required to be a healer and shadow priests are getting owned on the regular where I'm currently playing, but I like the concept. I like a challenge but I'm not into spending most of my day running back from the gy.

Any class that has a fear that can be used on other players absolutely piss me off. I will never play a lock, warrior or priest. Now that said, spriests seem to just own if you get the macro down to 1 button dot and then keep people feared and mindflayed.

I can't find the original blue post anymore, but I did read today that with Cata they are going to try to implement higher level toons being able to lower their levels so you can play with your lowbie friends and not steal their XP.

P2, I have no reason to believe they had not intended it to be there originally. There are specific elements within the game world and its code that show it was being worked on at one time.

If they have no intention of ever finishing it and implementing it - these code and graphics artifacts need to be removed.

How so? I'll confess that I've never actually looked for such things, but I'm curious what you've seen in-game to reference such things?

I just want to see it. lol I can imagine that some of the spots in Org (upper level areas) or spots of similar styles in SMC might be them; same goes for Stormwind spots.

The geeky explorer in me just wants to scope the stuff out.

Kavik, the only spot I know of is a portal within Stormwind (It looks like an instance portal) that is blocked off by a portcullis. That was supposed to be the entrance to the Player/Guild Housing.

There was also a spell titled Build House that was left within the game code.

No problem Kavik. I myself had wondered what it was for myself ..... until I looked it up. -chuckles-

There was also a second part of the Stormwind Instance Dungeon "The Stockade" that was intended to be in the game as well. You can see it from Stormwind Keep - it's the tower in the middle of the canals area. The dungeon was to include some higher level enemies and some pretty good loot. It was known as "The Vault".

Sure that wasn't one of the multiple in city instances that got nixed? I know there was a stockade pt 2 that never got implemented.

WoW is a very static world, and compared to some of it's predecessor MMO's a very small one. I can't see guild housing ever catching on, except as an extended private bank.

The second half of the stockade was meant to be the tower you see in the canals. You can actually jump into the canals and go right up to it, but cannot get into the tower as it is sealed on all four sides by a portcullis.

The "instance portal" that was to be part of a currently unfinished housing system is placed right where one would expect another residential or commercial district of Stormwind to be.
